Session
- Session date: 2020-04-26
Laris's meeting
* Korivan can bring Stormeye to meet with other leadrs and get filled in on what's happening after that raid
<YOAW_Narrator> Kraaz will bring Sajun and another leader from the captured orcs, Toroga.
* Laris will have people meet in his tent, assuming there's room.
<YOAW_Narrator> (I imagine it's pretty spacious.)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Like the command tents from HBO's Rome is what I'm thinking.)
<Laris> (cool)
* Kraaz will help himself to whatever food might be available.
* Laris has various maps of the area laid out (and also, yes, snax ;)
* Rufus_Metillius is going over the maps with Severina, frowning.
* Korivan munches on some snax idly
<Rufus_Metillius> We'll have to see them ourselves to judge, but I think we can hold these extra trails without too much force committed to it.
<Laris> Perhaps those more familiar with the local terrain can advise?
* Laris looks to the orcs
* NPC3 is now known as Stormeye
<Stormeye> Do you need them held indefinitely, or just long enough for more warriors to arrive?
<Laris> For our part, more warriors aren't arriving here, unless something unexpected changes. If you mean for more of your warriors, then we would welcome their aid, but our goal here isn't to stop them forever.
<Laris> And to do what we can to diminish their strength here before they go through.
<Kraaz> I think what he means is, do they need to hold the trails by themselves until we abandon this site, or do we want to just put enough warriors to hold them long enough for reinforcements from here to arrive as needed?
* Stormeye nods.
<Laris> I think we can reinforce them from here if needed.
* Laris looks to Rufus and Severina to see what they say, though.
* Rufus_Metillius is now known as Severina
* Severina nods.
<Severina> That makes sense. Keep the majority of our forces concentrated here, where they're going to have to hit.
<Severina> Honestly, the best bet would be to put some of our troops on those trails, and keep the Stormeye and others used to this terrain as our quick response force for reinforcement. Our troops are more experienced at holding a position, and the mountain tribes will move fastest to assist.
* Laris nods
<Laris> That makes sense.
* Severina is now known as Rufus_Metillius
<Rufus_Metillius> Do we have any idea what we're likely to face?
* Korivan nods absently, thinking about other mountain allies and whether there will be time to seek them, or if he iss needed for other things...
<Rufus_Metillius> Are they going to come at us with everything?
<Laris> I don't know.
<Laris> I'm not sure if they know the other pass is blocked, for instance.
<Laris> They could split their force to try going that way, only to find it isn't accessible.
<Rufus_Metillius> What a boon that would be.
<Rufus_Metillius> (to Korivan) How're we doing with the local spirits?
<Korivan> The Strom should be... statisfied. The Mountain still waits.... on its ally @_@
<Korivan> Ahgrath Stonesleeper
* Stormeye is now known as Toroga
<Toroga> You're seeking Ahgrath?
* Rufus_Metillius is now known as Stormeye
<Korivan> Yes.
* Korivan turns his attenion to this new orc
<Toroga> She doesn't like to involve herself in surface troubles.
* Korivan nods
<Korivan> These surface troubles.... may not care what she wants @_@
* Toroga nods.
<Toroga> You know where she is, then?
<Korivan> no.
* Korivan frowns
<Korivan> Do you? @_@
<Toroga> I can find her.
<Toroga> She...was of our clan.
<Korivan> what is she now?
<Toroga> The Mountain's.
<Korivan> yes.....
* Korivan nods
<Korivan> The Mountain demands I seek her.... in order to show us its favour @_@
* Toroga nods.
<Korivan> If you take me to her.... we will have its strength, as well as he sorm, to crush our enemies here
<Toroga> I can take you to her. I can't promise anything beyond that.
<Korivan> that is all I require @_@
<Korivan> (the storm that shoudl be, above. I cna't even see my own typos today :p)
<Stormeye> Best be careful there, brother. The Stonesleeper's not so nice like me.
* Stormeye grins.
<Korivan> What is she like, then @_@
* Toroga frowns at Stormeye.
<Toroga> She's not...of this world any longer.
<Toroga> More on the other side than most shaman.
<Stormeye> Batshit crazy is what she is.
<Toroga> Says a raider and thief.
* Korivan shrugs
<Korivan> I am.... familiar, with such things.
<Korivan> all of them @_@
* Stormeye smirks.
* Toroga nods.
<Toroga> As I said, I can only take you to her.
<Korivan> it will serve. I am prepared.
<Kraaz> Off again, then.
* Kraaz claps Korivan on the back.
* Korivan nods
<Korivan> The Booyagh know thier roles @_@
<Kraaz> What of the rest of us? We don't all have to sit around holding our parts while the imperials march, right?
<Laris> I know you asked about raiding.
<Laris> I wanted to ask others what they thought - if there would be better uses for your strength, for instance.
* Stormeye is now known as Severina
<Severina> Raiding is also scouting. The more we know, the better we can prepare.
* Toroga is now known as Montano
<Montano> We're better out there, on the plains, than cooped up here behind this wall.
* Laris nods
<Laris> I'm prepared to permit it at least until they send their forces against us.
<Kraaz> Those trails work just as well for us as they do for them.
<Kraaz> We can harry whatever camp they make.
* Laris nods
<Laris> Are there any other factors we need to consider? Is there a chance they may try to breech the blocked pass for instance?
<Korivan> magic @_@
<Korivan> They will used what prisoners they still hold.... as fuel for their bargains
* Laris nods
<Laris> Some of our latest rescues are magic-workers. Maybe they can better speak to what they know of the capabilities of our opponents.
<Korivan> you should ask.... May. Sahhiru. Her Turathi mages. they will know more.
<Laris> Yes, but that takes two days, minimum. We can ask the orc casters now.
* Korivan nods
* Montano is now known as Toroga
<Toroga> They've killed many of my people, and raised them to fight.
* Laris nods
* Severina is now known as Ferko
<Ferko> It's worse than that, I'm afraid.
* Ferko says, stepping in through the tent entrance.
<Ferko> My apologies, Lugal, that was more dramatic than necessary, but I only just arrived.
* Korivan turns his gaze to him
<Laris> Go ahead.
* Laris says to Ferko.
* Ferko steps up to the table.
<Ferko> It's not undead they're raising, not specifically.
<Ferko> They're binding demons to the bodies of the slain.
* Toroga is now known as Rufus_Metillius
<Rufus_Metillius> Come again?
<Ferko> Demons. They're summoning them into corpses to fight for them.
<Ferko> And they seem to have managed control of them, somehow.
<Korivan> Demons?
<Korivan> hmmmmm...
<Korivan> This smells of the Maazikai @_@
<Korivan> their remnants.... fled this way
<Laris> Magus Auspex and I have discussed whether we can try to seize control of those raised troops. I don't know if it will work, under these circumstances though.
<Rufus_Metillius> It's unlikely.
* Korivan grumbles and turns his attentions to the ancestors to see what *they
* think
<Ferko> They do have some traditional undead, but these demonic ones are getting more numerous.
<Ferko> They're clearly preparing for invasion, and have been.
<YOAW_Narrator> The ancestors mutter and argue amongst themselves, as usual, but you make out one recurring word: "Orcus."
<Korivan> TThey have made some pact with Orcus @_@
<Korivan> I see now..... why our patrolns... have allied for this @_@
* Korivan says to Laris
<Rufus_Metillius> What? Are they that desperate? That idiotic?
<Korivan> (patrons)
* Laris nods
<Ferko> So it would seem.
<Korivan> Send word of this to the City.
<Laris> We will.
* Korivan nods
<Rufus_Metillius> That's...insanity.
* Rufus_Metillius is now known as Severina
<Severina> It's blasphemy.
* Severina usually has a soldier's casual relationship to religion, so this is a bit of a statement coming from her.
<Korivan> yes.
<Korivan> It will not stand @_@
<Laris> What is the best way to destroy these type of troops?
* Severina is now known as Sajun
<Sajun> We tried wards, but nothing seemed to stop them.
* Sajun is now known as Toroga
* Toroga nods.
* Toroga is now known as Rufus_Metillius
<Rufus_Metillius> We might still be able to affect their physical bodies.
<Rufus_Metillius> And there are some old rituals...I'd need to talk to Dianthea, actually.
<Rufus_Metillius> And maybe Fata Merula.
<Korivan> I will... consult @_@
<Laris> all right.
<Korivan> I have.... some thoughts @_@
* Rufus_Metillius nods.
<Rufus_Metillius> We should head to the city, then. We can coordinate with Siru Mamitu.
<Korivan> I will confer wth my apprentices before I go to see Agrath Stormsleeper
* Laris nods
<Laris> Very well. Is there more to add here? Otherwise we should get underway - time is of the essence here.
* Ferko nods.
<Ferko> I'll accompany the magi back to Nesu Abamatu.
<Ferko> I do have more detailed notes for you, though, Lugal, which I will leave in your care.
<Laris> Thank you.
May meets with Gladius
<YOAW_Narrator> (Are you just asking for him to come to you when available?)
<May> (Going to him. I don't want to presume.)
<YOAW_Narrator> (He's probably at the castle right now. He's been back and forth a lot.)
* May will try to catch him when he's there then
<YOAW_Narrator> (Quarters or a common area? Not that it really matters, just curious.)
<May> (I'll go to his quarters)
* May will knock on the door to Gladius' quarters.
* Gladius answers the door.
<May> Lord Gladius? Do you have a moment?
<Gladius> Siru Mamitu, please come in.
* May will nod and enter.
<May> Thank you.
<Gladius> To what do I owe this honor?
<May> I was hoping to seek your advice.
<Gladius> Of course. What counsel do you seek?
<May> Do you know of Lady Morelos?
<Gladius> Of the Gloaming Court? I know of her, but I don't believe I've had the pleasure.
<May> She has become a... factor... in the coming conflict. I don't know what her motives are or what role she will play. Would it be within the spirit of our agreement to ask what you know of her?
<Gladius> Of course.
<Gladius> She's an old power, but most of the fae lords are.
<Gladius> If I remember correctly, she has largely refrained from court affairs, keeping her own counsel and staying to her own lands. Unusual for one of her people.
<May> She seems to value her independence.
<May> I can relate
<Gladius> I believe she's known to consort with dev...with your people's gods.
* Gladius nods.
* May nods.
<May> She has acted as a sort of... intermediary for the imperials. Helping them communicate their wishes to us. I just don't know why. Maybe she just hopes we will destroy each other.
<Gladius> That would fit a fae mindset, I believe.
<May> Hmmm
<Gladius> Have you dealt with her before?
<May> Yes. She's been in contact with one of my advisors through his dreams. She sent a sort of... gift to me. As with most fae gifts it wasvery much a double-edged sword.
<Gladius> Might I inquire as to the nature of this gift?
* Induriel (~Mibbit@mtrlpq4396w-70-53-212-89.dsl.bell.ca) has joined #gnomeland
<May> It is... quite powerful. And very dangerous. And best kept a secret for now. More than that I'm afraid I cannot say.
* Gladius nods.
<Gladius> Gifts from the fae are usually a test of sorts.
<May> A test?
<Gladius> A choice of paths, as it were.
<Gladius> A measure of worth.
* May nods.
<Gladius> And the fae themselves often act as intermediaries.
<Gladius> I'm sorry, I feel I am speaking in generalities.
<May> No, it's inevitable. I'm sorry I can't give you more specific information as well.
<Gladius> I might be able to give you better advice with time.
<May> Time is one thing we may not have right now.
* Gladius nods.
<Gladius> As you say.
<May> I know that you have said you will not fight with us, and I respect that. But do you have any other advice? Do you know of any way I could avoid this war? Or failing that... end it quickly?
<Gladius> On the contrary, Siru, I said I would not fight offensively for you. If you are attacked, you may count me among your defenders.
<Gladius> As to avoiding the war...you could of course acquiesce, but that would be a mistake.
<Gladius> Beyond that, this conflict seems inevitable.
* May sighs.
<May> So everyone and everything seems to be telling me.
<Gladius> As to ending it quickly, you lack the resources to do so, I fear.
<Gladius> Lugal Corvis's strategy is sound.
<Gladius> It is not glamorous, but it is the most efficient use of your resources.
* May nods.
<May> I know. But those resources include people. Anything I can do to save them their blood I would do.
<May> War might be necessary. It might even be just. But it should never be made lightly.
<Gladius> I do not think any of you have entered into this lightly, though I also don't believe you've been given a choice.
<Gladius> Beyond what is more valuable: the lives of some of your people, or the entirety of what you have accomplished here.
<May> What have I accomplished? There will always be new "Empires". There will always be tyrants. Will I fight them all?
<Gladius> If you do not think it worthwhile, why not bend the knee?
* May sighs and looks out the window at the city.
<May> That's what I keep asking myself.
<May> Would they be better off as part of this new "Empire"?
<Gladius> And your answer?
<May> I don't know. But at least I'm trying to improve. Living in the past is no way to move forward. I just hope I'm leading them the right way.
* Gladius steps next to May at the window.
<Gladius> That, of itself, makes you a worthier leader than this upstart 'Emperor.'
<Gladius> If they ruled here when my daughter and I came, they would have killed us on sight.
<May> They would have tried.
* May smirks.
* Gladius smiles.
<Gladius> I appreciate your assessment of my abilities, but 10,000 men is more than even I can best.
<Gladius> How many people would have suffered in that battle? Or if Kepeskmirriv had followed me to the city and found me dead?
<Gladius> I doubt she would have left the city alone.
<May> Who's talking about you? I bet Meghan could have taken at least 10,000 men.
* May smiles.
<May> But you're right.
<May> We need to stop them.
<May> They will not take this city.
<Gladius> Mamitu...you've built something important here, I think. I've heard you speak of what you want this city to be, and I think the world desperately needs that vision.
* Gladius nods.
<Gladius> No, they will not.
<May> Thank you.
<May> For everything.
<Gladius> You're quite welcome. It's the least I could do to repay my debt.
<May> If you help us get rid of these idiots, I think you can consider that debt cleared. I don't like having people in my debt anyway. I'd rather have friends.
<Gladius> Debt or no, you have my friendship.
* May smiles.
May and Induriel visit Lanwa in a dream
* Induriel goes in search of May for news...
* May will let Induriel know about the ritual she found and they can set it up together.
* Induriel participates, nodding as May puts various components in place
<Induriel> Well, I think we are ready. Shall we begin?
<May> Yes.
* May will start the ritual.
<YOAW_Narrator> The ritual includes the usual circle, and a truly staggering amount of hallucinogenic incense, but eventually you succumb to sleep and find your spirits unmoored from the physical realm.
<YOAW_Narrator> You rise from your bodies, through the keep, above the city, pulled towards a point of light to the northwest. Your consciousnesses rush along. Soon, you are in a clearing near the river, elves camped around you. In front of you sits Lanwa of the Rucina, staring into the green flames of her campfire.
* Gladius is now known as Lanwa
<May> Greetings.
* Lanwa looks up.
<May> I'm a quick learner.
<YOAW_Narrator> If she is surprised to see you, it doesn't register on her face.
* Lanwa smiles.
* Induriel nods respectfully
<Lanwa> Greetings, Mamitu. So I see.
<Lanwa> Who's your friend?
<May> This is my friend and advisor, Induriel Antalanon, of Aethrennar.
* Lanwa nods to Induriel.
<May> I hope we are not intruding.
<Lanwa> Of course not. I believe we're almost within your lands, in any case.
* May nods.
<Lanwa> Greetings, Induriel Antalanon.
<Lanwa> What brings you both here tonight?
<Induriel> Greetings, Lanwa of the Rucina.
<May> We were hoping to ask your advice. And maybe some help.
<Lanwa> Both are freely given. How may I aid you?
<Induriel> It concerns one who is also most adept at manipulating the dream world - Lady Morelos.
<May> Do you know of her?
<Lanwa> Ah, Dreamweaver herself. What of her?
<May> She's been in contact with us. With Induriel specifically.
<Lanwa> An honor to you, I'm sure.
* Induriel grimaces
<Induriel> Alas, the first time she summoned me, it was to express her displeasure.
<Induriel> Fortunately, I have since been able to placate her.
<Lanwa> And you survived? Impressive.
<May> I'm not sure who's side she's on in the coming fight, if any. She contacted us on behalf of our enemy. It worries me.
<Induriel> She has been... involved.
<Lanwa> Hmm. That *is
* interesting.
<Induriel> More recently, she arranged a meeting between myself and Lord Damasuhu.
<Lanwa> Do you have any idea why?
<Induriel> She acted as facilitator and moderator - well, that last was not particularly needed - at Damasuhu's request.
<Induriel> It appears she has something of a relationship with his master - enough to fulfill such a request, at least.
<Induriel> We believe she is also concerned about coming events, and how they may affect her and hers.
<Lanwa> Who is his master?
<Induriel> The claimant Emperor.
<Lanwa> She has a relationship with this emperor?
<Induriel> Forgive me, I speak ambiguously. Damasuhu serves the claimant Emperor in this world; in the mystic world, he serves another, the Huntsman.
<Lanwa> Ahhh.
<Induriel> It is the latter to whom she bid him give her regards.
<Lanwa> Yes, that would do it.
<Lanwa> The Huntsman is kin and court to Lady Morelos.
<May> I was told she mostly does not involve herself in the court.
<May> It must have been significant request.
<Lanwa> Better for us she isn't, if the Hunstman has taken the imperial side?
<Lanwa> (No question mark, sorry)
<May> Who is the huntsman? I can guess some from the name, but do you know anything about him?
<Induriel> That... we do not know. It appears that Lord Damasuhu has a pact with the Huntsman, but does that indicate that he serves the Emperor at the Huntsman's order?
* Lanwa nods.
<Induriel> Not necessarily, I should think. Or at least hope.
<Induriel> Does the Huntsman normally interest himself in such affairs?
<Lanwa> He is a great warrior lord of the Gloaming Court, son of Lolth herself.
<Lanwa> Not as such. He takes sport where he may find it.
<Induriel> I suppose he enjoys conflict and chaos...
* Lanwa nods.
<Lanwa> Battle and blood.
<Induriel> That would go far toward explaining Lord Damasuhu's... unfortunate intransigence, when I suggested patience to him.
<Lanwa> The Wild Hunt is never idle.
<May> He's pushing us into this conflict then. For his own amusement.
* Lanwa nods and shrugs.
<Lanwa> Likely.
<Induriel> The Huntsman does not care about the causes of the conflict, though. Only that there *be
* a conflict?
<Lanwa> I'm sure he seeks to gain from it, as well. The Huntsman may have little interest in material wealth or power, but his warlocks are mortals, like any other.
* Lanwa nods.
<Induriel> Well. I had hoped to divert him to conflict *elsewhere*, but I suppose this is the nearest at hand.
<Induriel> In any case: it is not so much about him that we have come to consult you, but about Lady Morelos.
<Lanwa> Yes.
<Induriel> She seems to be positioned as a neutral, at the moment. It is perhaps good that she does not, as yet, actively take her kinsman's part.
<Induriel> Is it possible, do you suppose, that she could be persuaded to actively take ours?
<Lanwa> In what manner?
<Induriel> If that is possible without offending the Huntsman, of course. I am not sure how she could help... perhaps only indirectly.
<May> We have little we could give her that she wants except perhaps to be left alone.
<Induriel> When I asked her directly, she said that she did not consider herself directly involved.
<Induriel> As yet.
* Lanwa smirks.
<Lanwa> And you took her word?
<Induriel> But that she might become so, depending on how events evolved.
<Induriel> I wouldn't presume to contradict her to her face. :/
<Induriel> I am a diplomat now, you see.
* Eyllia (vess@CPEbc4dfb296af3-CMbc4dfb296af0.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com) Quit (Ping timeout: 378 seconds)
<Induriel> In any case: although I have seen more of the Lady of late than I ever expected to, I am sure you have more knowledge and experience where she is concerned.
<May> I have no real experience with the fae courts. Do you have any advice on how we should deal with her? Would it be worthwhile to try to contact her?
<Lanwa> What would you offer her if you did?
<Lanwa> The fae do nothing without reciprocity.
* May considers this.
<Induriel> What would appeal to her most?
<Lanwa> Service.
<Lanwa> My people have an understanding with the Lady. Perhaps we will need to further that relationship.
<May> How so?
<Lanwa> I wonder, perhaps, in bringing this Damasuhu to your attention, she was not providing an answer.
<Induriel> Her relationship with her kinsman is not the most comfortable one, perhaps?
<Induriel> He is, after all, famously.. not comforting. :/
<Lanwa> Perhaps.
<Lanwa> I believe what she wants is a warlock.
* Induriel raises an eyebrow at that
<Induriel> Oh, my.
<May> ...huh.
<Lanwa> A servant, and ambassador in the mortal world.
<May> That is... not something I had ever considered.
<Induriel> In the person of Mamitu, here? Or myself, since it seems she has already been at some pains to cultivate me...
<Lanwa> I'm not sure, but if you are the one she came to, perhaps?
<Lanwa> I would gladly accompany you to speak to her.
<Induriel> I am already in the service of Queen Alcarinel, of course. But I don't know whether that means she considers me off-limits, or would take extra delight in poaching me from her.
<Lanwa> The latter, I'm sure.
<Induriel> Yes. I do not doubt it. :/
<May> Can you not serve both? The way Damasuhu serves both a material and a fae master?
<Induriel> If that is what she wants... well, I suppose it would depend on the exact terms of any Pact you or I concluded with her.
<May> It's not for me to decide. I would'n't ask you to do something like this for me.
<Induriel> Well, this is something to explore, at least. I am sure I would be grateful for any further advice you can offer on the matter, Lanwa.
<Induriel> Especially if it will keep you and yours from having to "deepen" your own relationship with her, as you said.
* Lanwa nods.
<Lanwa> My counsel and aid are yours.
<Induriel> In the meantime, we must scour the library for any information on Pacts the Lady may have established in the past... if they are recorded anywhere.
* May nods.
<Induriel> If this is what she wants, we must also find out what aid she can offer that would be worth the price.
<May> That, at least is something I'm familiar with.
<Lanwa> I will consult with my people for stories of her past servants.
<May> Thank you, Lanwa. You've given us a lot to think about. I look forward to seeing you in person.
* Lanwa smiles.
<Lanwa> And I you, Mamitu. We should be in your city if a few days time.
* Induriel bows
* May smiles.
<Induriel> I look forward to meeting you in person, Lanwa of the Rucina.
* Lanwa will stand and bow to Induriel.
<Lanwa> Until then, Induriel Antalanon.
Eyllia tries to make friends with Sannas
<YOAW_Narrator> After securing the new quom, most of the fleet has been returned to their normal duties, but the Emerald Drake and the Wyrm's Suspire are still on station for the moment while Eyricia coordinates with her quom counterparts. More than anything, this has been a few days of anxious boredom for the Drake's crew, so they're happy for any break, including a boat ferrying over what appears to be one of the quom captains.
* Eyllia will also be happy to be gone from here
* Eyllia will go see who the new arrival is
<Sannas> Permission to come aboard?
* Sannas , the wuomish captain, calls up in accented Primordial.
<Eyllia> You may board
* Eyllia responds in Primordial
* Sannas climbs aboard.
<Sannas> Captain D'Azzure?
<Eyllia> That is me. And you are?
<Sannas> Sannas, of the Chalach Priory.
<Sannas> I was told you would have more information about what you've been facing from our wayward brethren.
* Eyllia nods
<Eyllia> The Drake as encountered them
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> I have heard.
<Sannas> Did you happen to notice any distinguishing features of them or their ship
<Sannas> ?
* Eyllia pauses, trying to recall, and will then discribe the ships as best she can remember
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> Kysyk Fane.
<Sannas> A particularly foul heresy.
<Sannas> You captured a few, is that right?
<Eyllia> we did. They were very resigned after they were abandoned to us.
<Eyllia> It took some coaxing just to get them to speak
<Eyllia> they provided very little useful information
<Sannas> They have a nihilistic sense fo their duty to our goddess. Once they were of no use to their leaders, their lives meant nothing to them.
<Sannas> My superiors should be able to help your people predict and prevent their raids.
<Eyllia> good
<Eyllia> they used strange magics in combat... the likes we had not seen before.
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> I could say the same of you. We are strangers here.
<Sannas> I'm told the Kysyk are not your people's only concern at the moment, though.
* Eyllia shakes her head no
<Eyllia> We are selves are relatively new arrivals to these waters and our new allies are in danger
<Eyllia> The Kysyk are too much of a danger to ignore, so we came here instead.
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> That's understandable. I hope we can continue to prove our benign intentions.
<Sannas> I've been learning a bit about your people these past few days. It seems we share a history as planar refugees.
* Eyllia looks at Sannas. Is she nervous, relaxed?
<Sannas> (Roll Awareness?)
<Eyllia> (empathy apply?)
<Sannas> (Sure)
<Eyllia> !roll 5d6
* Korivan rolls for Eyllia: [ 5d6 ] getting [ 3 3 6 6 2 ] for a total of [ 20 ].
<Eyllia> (18+6 is 24)
* Sannas seems a bit awkward, perhaps, but like she's trying.
<Eyllia> I do regret how our people came together. If you would like, we could retire to my cabin for a drink and continue this discussion.
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> Please.
* Eyllia will lead her on
<Eyllia> how is it that your people are so split in outlooks?
<Sannas> We fragmented as much as our goddess over the years. Some, like the Kysyk, fell into despair. We Chalach kept the faith, though of course I am far from unbiased.
<Sannas> Your people seem quite close-knit, despite internal differences.
<Eyllia> We've had some hard times in the past. The only way we've survived and rebuilt was by uniting and combining our differences into a better whole
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> Like this vessel? She's a fine ship. Built for speed much more than our temple-ships.
<Sannas> Patrol?
* Eyllia will get some cups and rum out once they arrive at the cabin
<Eyllia> Yeah, she's more for scouting and patrol. Also good for first impressions.
* Sannas smiles.
<Sannas> I can see why that would be.
<Sannas> Can you tell me any more about this other enemy? We'd like to stay, if possible, and any aid we can offer we will.
<Eyllia> Jumping in with both feet to change things. I appreciate that.
<Sannas> I am perhaps for eager than my elders, but I am a sailor and soldier. I prefer to act.
<Eyllia> I'll explain briefly, since I myself don't know all the history...
<Eyllia> The old empire that ruled the mainland fell apart... the why, I don't know all the details
* Sannas nods.
<Eyllia> A group is trying to re-establish thier version of it, and laying claim to lands that were once part of it.
<Sannas> Including these lands, then/
<Sannas> ?
<Eyllia> I dont imagine specifically these islands... some are newly to this plane... but they are close to Nēšu Abamātu
<Eyllia> where our allies dwell.
* Sannas nods.
<Sannas> What led your people to settle here?
<Eyllia> We've been wandering for a while.
<Eyllia> To grow and prosper we need to settle somewhere.
<Eyllia> This area seemed to be good.
<Sannas> Seemed to be?
* Eyllia sips her drink
<Eyllia> Nēšu Abamātu is in danger from the enemies on the land, and we have been beset with raids at sea.
<Sannas> Why not move on, then?
<Sannas> If it proved an untenable situation.
<Eyllia> With your people's help, hopefully the sea raids can be reduced
<Eyllia> thats one less problem
<Eyllia> and I've secured us lumber for new ships, so if we can manage to keep Nēšu Abamātu safe, we'll come out stronger in the end.
* Sannas smiles.
<Sannas> Sounds like a fine place we've found ourselves, however unfortunate the introduction.
<Eyllia> Its an opportunity if you're willing to embrace it.
<Eyllia> I know Māmītu Lalû will accept you if you prove a true ally
<Sannas> She's the leader of the city?
* Eyllia nods
<Eyllia> I am anxious to get back once things are settled here
<Sannas> Certainly you'll be released to go soon.
<Eyllia> And what about you, what will you be doing in the near future?
<Sannas> I suppose we will see. We don't have patrol ships like yours, but we might be able to protect specific points.
* Eyllia nods
<Eyllia> Where does your heart lie? A whole world to explore is a big temptation.
* Sannas smiles.
<Sannas> It lies with my people.
<Sannas> Though this new sea calls.
<Eyllia> I hope you are lucky enough like myself to be able to achieve both
<Sannas> Here's to that.
* Sannas will raise her cup.
* Eyllia will raise her up as well
