Record of Gambits
The Record of Gambits was a series of letters written by the envoy and intellectual Alago Murati (661-730) in the city of Ardukh in northern Khutu in 719. Alago was an advisor and political emissary of a major noble lineage in Ardukh and for a time, had advised Eluli Ula Himself. Though purportedly fictional, the Record of Gambits clearly drew from Alago's experiences and work throughout Khutu and beyond, covering issues of political intrigue, strategy, and scandals of the Khutuan nobility. Murati's writings, despite the controversy associated with them, were devoured by the political and intellectual elites throughout Khutu and beyond, into Omba and Taizi. In 724 the Record was banned entirely in Omba, where it was seen as compromising the authority of the Senate, even though Murati had never spent significant time in Omba. Copies of the Record were made and disseminated rapidly. It continues to be read and used by those aspiring to power even today.
