Hester is one of Martan Olivier and Ysabeau Chanuier's daughters. Older siblings include Justen and Mercy, Jess andRémi Olivier; younger siblings include Gabriela Olivier, Theo Olivier, and Ysabel Olivier.
Hester moved to Val des Fentes in the Duchy of Greywatch as a young adult, where she works in mountain rescue, among other things. She is a ranger.
