Urdoche

Urdoche is the highly ornate carving and engraving practice on ivory, slate, and metal practiced in the Omban successor states. Urdoche is considered one of the highest arts that can be mastered, and is regarded as taking decades to learn properly. Proportion and direction have deeply encoded meanings within the urdoche tradition. While carving has been practiced since time immemorial, the first records of urdoche as an art form date from around 425 IE. Exceptional urdoche carvings from the fifth and sixth centuries are priceless treasures. A form of urdoche used only on tombs has a highly distinctive structure from ordinary ornamental urdoche, and is mainly learned by Voices.
