The Stone Prince and the Iron Knight
When heroes wandered the land there was a Stone prince, much beloved of his knights. Twenty battles they fought, and twenty battles they won. And the knights were joyous, but the prince lay uneasy. For he saw a dark shadow cast by his sword, and said to himself, "No more shall I fight."
And he lay down his sword upon the ground, so no shadow would it cast. But the six other princes of the land heard of this, and they were enraged. They surrounded the castle of the good prince, and beset his knights, and many were slain, and in the end they were defeated. But still the prince would not lift his sword from the ground, saying, "No more shall I fight."
And so he was taken. The six princes sat in cruel judgement of the one, and said to him, "If you will not fight, you shall never join your ancestors." The prince stood tall and said once more, "No more shall I fight."
And so the six stood together, and with their power said, "As you are Stone, so shall you be made stone". And then they were gone. At this, his knights wept. But one knight looked upon the stone prince and said, "No more shall he fight, so for him must I fight."
And as his master was cast in stone, he was cast in iron. And so the Iron Knight stands next to his stone prince for all days.
