Sixth-month, 2197:

   * 1st: Belden attends an emergency meeting of the Ostraka. Falke pays a visit to Capt. Borja to discuss Josserand.
   * 2nd: Jenai gives birth to twin sons, whom they name Alexior and Velten. Boden discusses religion and his new powers with Reverend Mother Briaga. Falke and Kalman talk about many things, including babies, steam power, and the past.
   * 3rd: Kalman learns from his sister that the double wedding is being postponed. He soon learns from Loick that Katia brought charges against Davilas, but they were heard by the Patriarch, who dismissed them. Moreover, Davilas incited Loick to challenge him to a duel. Kalman volunteers to serve as Loick's second. At a rehearsal for the play, Pavo recognizes Pol Szeto as one of his fellow actors, and talks to him afterwards about Mar.
