Unit Types

(incomplete!)

  • Infantry - Soldiers armed with rifles, machine guns, and short range alchemical explosives (grenades): the most common unit.
  • Artillery - Things what go boom! All companies would contain an artillery support unit
  • Mixed Division - Mixed unit incorporating infantry with sorcerers, usually companies or platoons divided into specialized squads.
  • Magical Support - By the end of the war, most of these units were dispersed into mixed divisions.
  • Chasseurs - Specialized Infantry raiding units, usually organized at the squad level
  • Warforged - There were two companies of warforged put into service, under the command of human officers
  • Shadar-kai - One company of shadar-kai soldiers (who were either already citizens or served in return for citizenship) was fielded. Initially under the command of human officers, who were gradually phased out as more shadar-kai proved themselves worthy of command. Known colloquially as "The Blackbloods"
  • Other specialized units for scouting, alchemical warfare, intelligence, communications, etc... though often a platoon would have a few individuals specializing in these rather than a fully dedicated unit.
