Structure

The general structure of army units is as follows:

  • Battalion: Five companies, usually headed by a Lieutenant-Colonel or a Colonel, supported by multiple officers and NCOs. Approximately 1000 people.
  • Company: Four Platoons. Usually headed by a captain or a major, often supported by other officers and high-ranking NCOs such as Warrant Officers. Approximately 200 people.
  • Platoon: Four squads. Usually headed by a Lieutenant and supported by 3-4 NCOS (one Sargent, several corporals in charge of their platoons). Approximately 45 people.
  • Squad: 8-10 people including the squad leader, usually a corporal. Most squads operated as part of a platoon, though they could be deployed independently as smaller units for specialized work such as raiding.
