Introduction

<AshnabisGM> One alone stands alone. When two are joined as one, root and branches, hand and voice, husband and wife, they are stronger together than ever one alone could be.
<AshnabisGM> So we join two into one, not because it is right or wrong, but because it makes us strong. -- The Espali Annals

Daifan looks for Ufrim but is unable to find him

<AshnabisGM> Daifan, for the past several days, you have been trying, without success so far, to find the whereabouts of Ufrim. Hopefully, if he's willing, you can set up a meeting with him and Veznara so that you can discuss the vexing problem of Khozra Ula, the purported corpseborn saint who has been pestering your baby.
<AshnabisGM> But no luck so far. No one at the Mudbug has seen him in quite a while, although several of them acknowledge they don't go out of their way to seek him out, on an ordinary day.
<AshnabisGM> Pesme's rains will give way to Shosolda, soon enough, and you're starting to wonder whether something is amiss. Ufrim isn't the type to go wandering far afield.
<AshnabisGM> Where could he be? What will you do?
<Daifan> (sorry I ddn't realize that was an acual qustion - do I know where he lives?)
<AshnabisGM> You've never been there before but you can find out that he has a hut out on the outskirts of Banei.
* Daifan will go check it out
<AshnabisGM> You head over to his little hut in Banei - it's a modest place, with perhaps a hint or two of his Daligashi origins in the high roof and wide front step. But just really large enough for Ufrim himself.
<Daifan> (Any sign he's been here or not recently?)
<AshnabisGM> There is no sign outside that he's been here.
<Daifan> (in how long?)
* Daifan coudl ask a neighbr if they've seen him, too
<AshnabisGM> The neighbor says that they heard some commotion over there, maybe five or six days ago. But Ufrim keeps to himself.
<Daifan> :|
<Daifan> (can I see any sign of struggle or anything?)
<AshnabisGM> You don't see any such sign outside the house.
<Daifan> (what about inside?)
<AshnabisGM> Pushing the door open, you find the place in a state of disarray. Ufrim may be a bit crazy but you don't think he's this kind of crazy. The table is knocked over and everything appears to have been abandoned in great haste.
* Daifan will look aroudn adn see if there is any kind of hint as to who may be behind this, thoughvthey have a suspicion
<AshnabisGM> (make a Perception roll)
<Daifan> !roll 1d20+18
* @Lan-werk rolls for Daifan: [ 1d20+18 ] getting [ 13 ] which, after the modifier [ 18 ] totals [ 31 ].
<AshnabisGM> It seems like there were multiple people here, but other than that, no sign of who, or what they wanted.
<Daifan> (I have a Suspicion :p)

Daifan scries on Ufrim to try and locate him

* Daifan will go see her good friend Katenzhi ;)
* Katenzhi will be happy to help procure experimental magic drugs.
* Daifan can tell her that she is loking for someone who disappeared form their commuity, so depending on whatthey see, may need help tracking them down
* Katenzhi will help however she can.
<Daifan> !roll 1d20+10
* @Lan-werk rolls for Daifan: [ 1d20+10 ] getting [ 9 ] which, after the modifier [ 10 ] totals [ 19 ].
<AshnabisGM> The spell takes time, of course, and at first you are frustrated, thinking that it will give no response. But then cloudiness turns to clarity.
<AshnabisGM> You see Ufrim, haggard and exhausted, with bandages and bruises over his body, in a familiar but (perhaps) unexpected location, the abandoned temple of Sashni, where you first encountered evidence of that ancient sect, over a year ago. But the place looks overgrown and abandoned, full of vines and vegetation. You can barely even detect that Ufrim is there at first ... but he is surely
<AshnabisGM> there.
* Daifan growls and will tell kat that they need to go rescue this asshole, can we please get ppl together
* Katenzhi will help round up the usual suspects
* Jimba is always happy to help :)
<AshnabisGM> All right, you can gather up your compatriots at the land registry, and hope to convince them to accompany you.
* Daifan will make sure their healer's kit is well stocked
* Katenzhi will bring lots of fos and pale oracle
<AshnabisGM> (you will need to explain it to them, Daifan - some of them don't even know who Ufrim is. We do have time for that, at least.)

The group are gathered and Daifan explains the need to rescue Ufrim from the Sashnir cult

* Daifan sighs
<Daifan> thank you for coming
<Daifan> As I said, there is someone from my community who has gone missing - his name is Ufrim
<Daifan> I did a scryng and I know where he is lcoated - it is at that stupd persimmon temple >.>
<Llillilli> Who is he to you?
<Daifan> that is complicated.
* Daifan gestures vaguely
* Llillilli waits
<Veznara> Ufrim?
<Daifan> Yes
<Veznara> Isn't he the one... oh. Oh dear.
<Katenzhi> That place again.
<Jimba> The one what?
<Katenzhi> Fucking Persimmons.
<Daifan> He hs been looking for a corpseborn saint who had been communicatig with him...
<Jimba> Say what now?
<Daifan> That same saint spoke to me through Shira...
* Llillilli frowns
<Daifan> So she is connected to it too, and I worry that if they mean him harm, then perhaps they will mean her harm as well
<Jimba> Well fuck.
<Jimba> Let's head to the stupid persimmon temple, yeah?
<Junan> I'm in... what do you need
<Daifan> The people who ru that cult, the same onesKat told us about.... they have ther own secret saint, and they want to somehow take this one saint and give their saint his power. I don't knwo what that means.
<Jimba> Is that a thing that can happen?
<Daifan> and yes, it seems they took him from his hose, and have brought him to that temple
<Daifan> maybe they need to communicate with the other saint, except he can't do it anyone, only Shira can
<Daifan> and I don't know, Jimba, but they think it can
<Katenzhi> So we wreck shop and leave no two stones on top of each other? Or we try to be subtle? Dai, how do you want to play it?
<Daifan> ahh.
<Jimba> So...rescue mission, right? Anchors aweigh and so forth.
<Daifan> I thin we should go and see and then decide
* Jimba nods.
<Daifan> so, subtl to start
* Katenzhi nods
<Daifan> we know these people are dangerous
<Daifan> on the other hand, if we can make them stop... maybe they will stop kidnapping and killing peopel in the future.
<Katenzhi> I really wanted you to say "Wreck shop".
<Katenzhi> They killed Bivizmi.
<Daifan> we may
<Daifan> I know
<Daifan> I don't want them to kill anyone else
<Veznara> What about the saint?
<Daifan> which one?
<Veznara> The one who also needed to be rescued. They may also be there?
<Daifan> that woudl be convenient. It is possible, and if so, then we can grab him too
<Katenzhi> What about their saint?
<Daifan> ¬.¬
<Daifan> There are several options
<Daifan> she's dangerous
<Katenzhi> So are we.
<Veznara> You're not thinking of taking that one too?!?
<Jimba> So...wreck...shop?
<Daifan> and she can comunicate with her descendants, so probably just dumbping her in the swamp woudl't be effective
<Daifan> I was going to say gve her to the Voice
<Llillilli> Can it be destroyed?
<Daifan> I don't know
<Daifan> She's already dead
<Llillilli> If the body is destroyed does that do it?
* Llillilli looks at Veznara
<Veznara> Saints have been lost, in the past. But I don't know of any case where anyone actively *tried
* to destroy a saint. They have powerful means of defending themselves.
<Veznara> In this case, it would also provoke open warfare between the Sashnir and the colony, surely!
<Veznara> Let's just focus on rescuing Ufrim and his saint.
<Llillilli> Oh well.
<Veznara> Once they're both taken back to safety, perhaps the Sashnir will decide it isn't worth trying again.
<Daifan> mmhmm
<Katenzhi> I wouldn't bet on it.
<Katenzhi> They're damn persistent
<Jimba> They don't seem like the type to give up easily.
<Daifan> no, but if they need to do... whatver they are tryingm to maintai heir saint, maybe it will be helpful to disrupt it
<Veznara> Once Ufrim and Ula Khozra are back, they can be guarded, better than they were before.
<AshnabisGM> All right, you spend a few hours getting supplies ready, getting the Menagerie outfitted, letting loved ones know, and making whatever preparations you need for your travels. Then it's onto the boat and off up the Kaskos.

They reach the temple, which appears to be abandoned and overgrown

<AshnabisGM> Even though it's been only a year since you last visited this area, the Sestapor has a way of changing everything, disorienting all but the most capable sailors who would navigate the Kaskos and Lake Tsidul.
<AshnabisGM> But Jimba is no mean sailor, and with several sets of good eyes aboard the Menagerie, you find the spot where you debarked last time, just a short walk through the swamp to the abandoned temple site.
<AshnabisGM> (all right, any preparations / anything you need to do before heading from the lakeshore off towards the temple?
* Katenzhi is keeping a careful watch on the surroundings as they go
* Jimba is doing likewise.
* Junan will get someone to cast GMW on his bow
<Junan> (or do it himself)
* Katenzhi can
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 7 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 24 ].
<Junan> (how long a walk to the temple?)
* Junan will cast longstrider on himself
<Junan> !roll 1d20+11
* @Lan-werk rolls for Junan: [ 1d20+11 ] getting [ 5 ] which, after the modifier [ 11 ] totals [ 16 ].
<AshnabisGM> (it's not a long walk at all - really just maybe 10-15 minutes through the swamp at most?)
<Junan> (can I get heroism as well then?)
<Jimba> (If we're concerned about needing magic weapons, can I get GMW on my machete as well?)
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 16 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 33 ].
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 15 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 32 ].
<Katenzhi> (Yes to both)
<Daifan> (I'm also looking at warding spells, sec)
<Veznara> (I'll just stock up on fos... I am open for spell suggestions)
<Katenzhi> (Ditto to Vesnara)
<AshnabisGM> (ok you guys all done buffing? or still looking?)
<Junan> (im done)
<Katenzhi> (I'm good unless anyone has suggestions)
<Jimba> (I'm good with just the one spell.)
<AshnabisGM> All right, you set out into the swamp in the same direction as last time.
<Jimba> (Should we be rolling Stealth?)
<AshnabisGM> After a few minutes, you see the stone walls of the abandoned temple, ranging in height from waist-high to over twice your height, perhaps thirty paces long and half as wide, oriented in a north-south direction.
<AshnabisGM> (you are welcome to roll Stealth as you approach)
<Llillilli> !roll 1d20+24
* @Lan-werk rolls for Llillilli: [ 1d20+24 ] getting [ 19 ] which, after the modifier [ 24 ] totals [ 43 ].
<Jimba> !roll 1d20+18
* @Lan-werk rolls for Jimba: [ 1d20+18 ] getting [ 10 ] which, after the modifier [ 18 ] totals [ 28 ].
<Veznara> (I think I should use magic here... any suggestions for useful Stealth spells?)
<Junan> !roll 1d20+6
* @Lan-werk rolls for Junan: [ 1d20+6 ] getting [ 3 ] which, after the modifier [ 6 ] totals [ 9 ].
<Jimba> (Maybe I didn't need to leave Washteppo behind after all. :P )
<Katenzhi> (Yeah, I'm about as subtle as Peewee Herman so a spell would help)
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+3
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+3 ] getting [ 3 ] which, after the modifier [ 3 ] totals [ 6 ].
<Katenzhi> (Yeah...)
<Veznara> (Invisibility sphere or something?)
<Daifan> !roll 1d20+13
* @Lan-werk rolls for Daifan: [ 1d20+13 ] getting [ 17 ] which, after the modifier [ 13 ] totals [ 30 ].
<AshnabisGM> The limestone is covered in mosses but is otherwise relatively intact in most places, although, as you remember, no trace survives of what must have been the wooden roof of the building.
<AshnabisGM> But the place looks far more decrepit than you recall. When you were last here, the temple was clean and well-kept, but now it is far more overrun with vegetation. Thick mosses and vines crisscross the front half of the temple making passage by foot in the building challenging.
<AshnabisGM> There has clearly been flooding here; there are water stains high up on the walls, and although the water level has receded from that point, much of the soil is mucky.
<AshnabisGM> And, of course, just to the west of the temple is that first grove of gnarled persimmon trees, in full bloom. Their white and yellow flowers hang down as bells, swaying in the soft breeze. But their smell is off - just a little too sickly-sweet, and the grove, too, is overgrown.
<AshnabisGM> You see no sign of anyone.
* Veznara scans for signs of spiritual activity
<Jimba> [q] Any magic or anything?
<Daifan> (what about just good old tracking - that's survival, right?)
<Veznara> !roll 1d20+18
* @Lan-werk rolls for Veznara: [ 1d20+18 ] getting [ 6 ] which, after the modifier [ 18 ] totals [ 24 ].
* Katenzhi will cast detect magic.
<Jimba> !roll 1d20+16
* @Lan-werk rolls for Jimba: [ 1d20+16 ] getting [ 20 ] which, after the modifier [ 16 ] totals [ 36 ].
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 20 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 37 ].
<Jimba> (for Survival)
<Llillilli> !roll 1d20+21
* @Lan-werk rolls for Llillilli: [ 1d20+21 ] getting [ 3 ] which, after the modifier [ 21 ] totals [ 24 ].
<Llillilli> (for survival, meh_
<Daifan> !roll 1d20+16
* @Lan-werk rolls for Daifan: [ 1d20+16 ] getting [ 5 ] which, after the modifier [ 16 ] totals [ 21 ].
<Daifan> (also meh)
<AshnabisGM> Katenzhi, there are numerous powerful magical auras in the area.
<Katenzhi> (Do any seem particularly powerful?)
<Daifan> I wonder if this is an illusion
* Daifan gestures to the overgrown vines
<Katenzhi> I suppose it could be. There's a lot of powerful magic here...
<Veznara> [q] Can we try to contact Ufrim?
<AshnabisGM> Katenzhi, you don't perceive any specific sources from which these auras are coming. You don't see anybody or anything here.
<Katenzhi> (What kinds of magic?)
* Daifan considers
<AshnabisGM> (hmm, let's say ... enchantment, transmutation, illusion, and necromancy)
<Daifan> it would take some time
<Katenzhi> I could try to dispel some of the magic, but I honestly don't know what would happen.
<Daifan> is in jjst on ghe whle building?
<Daifan> or maybe on the ... little carving thing
<Katenzhi> It's everywhere... and yet, no specifically anywhere
<Daifan> hmm
<Katenzhi> As Veznara said, maybe we could try to send Ufrim a message?
<Daifan> okay
<Daifan> we are at the sashnir temple, where are you and what is going on?
<Katenzhi> ok.
<Daifan> we have more words
<Katenzhi> Not sure we need more than that.
<Daifan> we shoudl withdraw to cast this

Katenzhi casts True Seeing and reveals the illusion over the temple

<Katenzhi> Let me try true seeing first. Then we can withdraw
* Daifan nods
<Daifan> okay
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 17 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 34 ].
<AshnabisGM> (that would be on yourself, then? you can do yourself or any target)
<Katenzhi> (Yeah, me for now)
<AshnabisGM> All right, Katenzhi ...
<AshnabisGM> The terrain, the ground, and your surroundings shift and shimmer around you, and the scene of abandonment and overgrowth gives way to something quite different.
<AshnabisGM> The seemingly desolate temple is revealed to be something quite otherwise. The ground is clear of vegetation and the temple is in roughly the state of repair as in your last visit - still in ruins, but in active use.
<AshnabisGM> At the far end of the temple stand several individuals. One of them, Ufrim, you recognize. The others, five men, Aummesh by the looks of them, are unfamiliar to you.
<AshnabisGM> Amidst them are two plain wooden chairs, each of which has a most unusual occupant. Beside each chair is a great copper vessel, engraved with fine script.
<Katenzhi> Shit...
<AshnabisGM> To your right, there sits a woman - really, no more than a girl, perhaps fourteen or so. She is adorned in fine linens, into which persimmon flowers have been embroidered.
<Daifan> what?
<AshnabisGM> To your left, a man, young, clean-shaven - perhaps twenty or twenty-five? He is dressed in a plain white dashi that is ill-fitting on him. He, too, is dead, to all appearances.
<AshnabisGM> It occurs to you that few enough ever have the opportunity to see a single saint, an ula, and that here, unless you are greatly mistaken, there are not one but two, sitting in the temple.
<AshnabisGM> Ufrim is holding an alembic full of some sort of liquid. One of the elders is standing before a great set of scales resting on a tripod, each pan containing some fine powder.
<AshnabisGM> As for the others, you can only surmise they are members of the Maiden's Voice - the Sashnirs.
<Katenzhi> It's all an illusion...
* Katenzhi will cast a quickened true seeing on Daifan
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 19 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 36 ].
<AshnabisGM> All right, Daifan, you see the same thing, of course.
<Katenzhi> They're all there. Doing a ritual. I assume it's the transference
<Daifan> reveal it t the others
<Daifan> now
<Katenzhi> Working on it...
* Katenzhi will start handing out quickened true seeings like "Good job" stickers in first grade.
<AshnabisGM> As you begin to do so, the veil drops entirely.
<Katenzhi> Oh fuck...
<AshnabisGM> You can all see the scene in front of you - Sashni, her followers, Ufrim, and this other figure, presumably Khozra Ula.

Entering the temple, they engage with the priests and stoneguards

<AshnabisNarrator> okay I have the temple map up and you guys are positioned at the upper right, but you can put yourselves wherever you want to approach from. the south end of the temple is semi-submerged in water.
<Llillilli> hm
<AshnabisNarrator> at least the last time you were here, it wasn't extremely deep. maybe waist-deep or so at the deepest.
<Llillilli> I'm cool with coming from the water >.>
<Llillilli> should I charge that guy on the bottom left?
<Daifan> sure :D
<AshnabisGM> You can do that because of your water movement power - there's too much water for anyone else to charge through the standing water other than Llillilli
<Llillilli> yasss :>
<Jimba> Is it difficult terrain?
<AshnabisGM> it's not - the vegetation isn't actually there. But the water is ... well, it's water.
<Llillilli> rolling 1d20+21 (13)+21=34
<AshnabisGM> yuuup
<Llillilli> I will wither him
<Llillilli> rolling 3d6+9 (5+4+3)+9=21
<AshnabisGM> ok, he is surely unimpressed. Daifan.
<Daifan> how deep is the ater?
<Daifan> having see her go through it
<AshnabisGM> yeah it's not chest deep but it's more than just a few inches. Let's say like, 18 inches? maybe more in places, it's hard to say, but you're not just dashing through it
<AshnabisNarrator> let's just say it's difficult terrain then
<AshnabisGM> yup
<AshnabisNarrator> so we have some kind of rules :p
<AshnabisNarrator> so basically, movement x2
<Daifan> What is ufrim's reaction at the moment
<AshnabisGM> Ufrim seems alarmed but uncertain what to do.
<Daifan> I'll just fortune my peeps. Llillilli is too far tho. and I will tell him to get out of there
<AshnabisGM> ok everyone else has Fortune then. The guy at right, who is mailed and carrying a hammer, moves forward to stand in the way of anyone who would come towards the altar. Now Ufrim Ufrim gestures in the direction of the humans around him.
<Daifan> (Was that misfortune?)
<AshnabisGM> Daifan, it's hard to say from this distance but you think maybe, yes)
<Daifan> (cool)
<AshnabisGM> Next, Katenzhi.
<Katenzhi> ok
<Katenzhi> I will lead off with Mass Icy Prison on all of the bad guys at the altar.
<Katenzhi> I assume there is enough water around for that to be feasible
<AshnabisGM> yes there is certainly enough water. it's definitely within range ... you do know that's a 9th level spell though right?
<Katenzhi> I do
<AshnabisGM> great!
<AshnabisNarrator> you probably at least need to move where you can see them?
<Veznara> Hey, with Kat's luck this can't possibly go wrong! :D
<Katenzhi> Also... why not, I'll trigger my intentional surge on it just for kicks
<Veznara> Wheeee!! :D
<Katenzhi> rolling 1d20+17 (20)+17=37
<Katenzhi> Booyakasha!
<Jimba> Oh damn
<AshnabisGM> well that would be a success
<Katenzhi> rolling 1d100 (60)=60
<AshnabisGM> where are you standing Kat?
<Katenzhi> I'll move to there for line of sight. So the shatter doesn't do much, I guess, but that's fine.
<AshnabisGM> ok, your surge shatters the ... water?
<Katenzhi> Yeah it just gives an awesome ripple effect of power!
<AshnabisGM> who are you targeting then?
<Katenzhi> Everyone at the front except Ufrim and the good saint.
<AshnabisGM> ok rolling some saves
<Katenzhi> k k
<AshnabisGM> what's the save DC on this? 24? 25? what's your Int these days?
<Katenzhi> 24
<AshnabisGM> so ... 26 DC, dear christing crap
<Katenzhi> Oh, no, the save is 24
<AshnabisGM> ok thanks rolling 1d20+12 (20)+12=32
<Katenzhi> ...well shucks.
<Jimba> It's a twenty kind of day
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+9 (13)+9=22
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+10 (15)+10=25
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+5 (6)+5=11
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+8 (1)+8=9
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (20)+2=22
<AshnabisNarrator> hey Kat if you had been closer to the statue you could have shattered it ;)
<AshnabisNarrator> that would have been nicely dramatic
<Katenzhi> I mean, I can be! There :3
<AshnabisNarrator> I like that :)
<AshnabisGM> ok let's say that happened. boom, you blew up sashni, you bastard ... well, her statue
<Katenzhi> heee
<AshnabisNarrator> Kat steps in, blows up their statue, and catches a bunch of them in a spell
<AshnabisGM> anyway, many of these sashnirs are trapped in ice and starting on your action next round they will take damage
<Katenzhi> Yay! I helped!
<AshnabisGM> next is Bakkus, who is trapped. Aradeg is next, the one next to Lllillilli, also trapped
<Llillilli> lol :V
<AshnabisGM> I am understanding this right, Tuck, they need to make a DC 27 Strength check to break out?
<Katenzhi> yyyyup
<Llillilli> how long does this last if they don't?
<AshnabisGM> 1 minute / level lol
<Katenzhi> 12 minutes
<Llillilli> haha nice, basically forever then
<AshnabisGM> Ragamen is next, he casts a spell
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+12 (8)+12=20
<AshnabisGM> anyway, Ragamen (who was the only mobile person who saved) casts his spell
<AshnabisGM> The ice around the whole area of the altar melts away
<AshnabisGM> the two at front are still trapped but the ones up near the altar are all freed as the ice melts away. next, Junan
<Daifan> is the powder still there after that?
<Junan> (who do I shoot? and what is the fortune bonus?)
<AshnabisGM> who is up to you. The fortune bonus is +3
<Llillilli> pick an old guy, any old guy
<Junan> that one I guess
<Junan> rolling 1d20+20 (9)+20=29
<AshnabisGM> sorry i didn't see which one you pointed at
<Junan> rolling 1d20+20 (13)+20=33
<AshnabisNarrator> Ragamen
<Daifan> pick the one not in ice :p
<Junan> rolling 1d20+15 (10)+15=25
<AshnabisNarrator> well now 3 of them are not in ice, thanks to the one who was not in ice.
<AshnabisGM> those all hit
<Veznara> Get the caster first, yes.
<Junan> those were all 3 less, sorry
<Llillilli> I doubt he's the only caster
<AshnabisGM> they still all hit
<Junan> rolling 1d8+9 (8)+9=17
<Junan> rolling 1d8+9 (3)+9=12
<Junan> rolling 1d8+9 (5)+9=14
<Junan> rolling 1d8+9 (4)+9=13
<Junan> first shot had 2 arrows
<Veznara> So, 56 then. :O
<Junan> yes 56
<AshnabisGM> old dude seems unimpressed. next, Jimba
<Jimba> Just double move to there
<Jimba> And say, "I don't suppose you'd care to talk this out like reasonable people?"
<Jimba> (In Aummesh)
<AshnabisGM> lolololol josh
<Veznara> Can I advance to beside Daifan?
<AshnabisGM> yup
<Veznara> OK, I will call upon the Ancestors to Hallow all my friends within 30' to give them the +4 bonus to saves. (Sorry, ,Llillilli. :/ )
<Llillilli> it is what it is
<Jimba> (But she's your best friend!)
<AshnabisGM> All right, Khozra takes no evident action.
<Llillilli> did we skip hte old man on 7?
<AshnabisGM> oh yeah, old dude on 7. ok, he's going to use Spirit Shield on himself (Veznara, you would recognize that)
<Katenzhi> I'm gonna call him ra-ra-rasputin
<AshnabisGM> anyway, he is not coming up to be zapped by you people. Lastly, Sashni ...We will turn back to IRC for a moment.

Sashni sends them into a vision of the past

<AshnabisGM> The temple around you dissolves into nothingness, as if all that gives it Coherence fizzles into wisps, then specks. Then the fragments of fragments reconstitute themselves, and you find yourself somewhere very different indeed.
<AshnabisGM> You find yourselves in the swamp still, but greatly changed. You are standing at the edge of a swampy lake, perhaps like Lake Tsidul, but much wider. Along the beach sit several wooden docks with small hide and wooden riverboats moored there.
<AshnabisGM> And around you is not merely a temple, but an entire village, mostly of buildings on wooden stilts with thatched roofs. These are not quite the Aummesh locals' buildings you are familiar with, but there is perhaps a family resemblance.
<AshnabisGM> But still familiar amidst the scene is the Voice temple, made of stone, but now in pristine condition, with a high wooden roof. A moment's reflection suggests that this is not merely like the temple by the persimmon grove - it is one and the same, changed by time, to be sure, but identical.
<AshnabisGM> It has a single entrance towards the beach, unusually for a Voice temple, which normally has at least two.
<AshnabisGM> A tall, heavyset fellow in black robes and long dark braids stands in the lintel of the temple, its saglikom facing outward into the broad central plaza of the village. He smiles at the villagers, then heads into the holy building.
<AshnabisGM> Dozens of villagers are moving about, carrying water, collecting vegetables, stretching hides across long frames, and so on. One of them, a girl of perhaps fourteen, dark-skinned, with long black curly hair, is strikingly familiar. She looks at you for a moment, then turns away to enter the temple after the priest.
<AshnabisGM> Along the lakeside, out of the corner of your eye, you see some motion. A stout rowed boat, pulled by a sextet of mailed warriors, pulls swiftly towards the short. They come ashore as if possessed of great purpose, carrying hammers, long knives, and torches, moving in unison into the village.
<AshnabisGM> You recognize that they are stoneguards, dressed in an old Omban fashion. Quite a lot like your own Iron Knight, Buhin. Strikingly, each bears the same face - not Buhin's, but rather, the face of the young man in the chair, in the other world. The face of Khozra Ula.
<AshnabisGM> They advance on the temple, and the people of the village begin to scream and scatter.
<AshnabisGM> What do you do?
<Jimba> Head to block the temple entrance.
<Katenzhi> Jimba, it's an illusion!
<Jimba> Maybe!
<Llillilli> Like the fire, before...
* Jimba keeps an eye on the stoneguards.
<Jimba> This is a better vantage point in either case.
* Katenzhi will head after him.
* Llillilli looks to Daifan.
* Daifan just looks cranky
<Junan> (we're in the same place right? Didnt move, at least as far as I can tell?)
* Llillilli looks back to Jimba X(
<Daifan> Cut it out, saint
* Llillilli does as well.
<Llillilli> JImba, WAIT.
<Jimba> (We look like we've moved)
<AshnabisGM> You are not exactly in the same place you were - if you were, you'd be inside the temple building, which is the big one to the right.
<Jimba> (Like, we were inside the temple and werent bunched up)
<Jimba> (Yeah)
<AshnabisGM> You are in, or appear to be in, the same general locale ... maybe? in the past?
<AshnabisGM> In a dream ...?
<Jimba> (To the Stoneguards, in Aummesh) You guys looking for something?
<AshnabisGM> The stoneguards are rushing towards the temple - they don't seem interested in staying to chat with you, Jimba.
<AshnabisNarrator> this map is large you'll probably want to have it at like 30% or something
<Jimba> (I can get to there in one round of double movement)
<Llillilli> who are these mans
<AshnabisNarrator> rando villagers, they are probably running away
<AshnabisNarrator> Llillilli is up first
<Llillilli> I'll ready an action to move with Daifan when they go.
<AshnabisNarrator> Daifan's turn then
<Llillilli> and like smash anyone who tries to bother them :v
<Daifan> is going dwn the ladder part of my move?
<AshnabisNarrator> sure, it's just a short little ladder, we'll say moving up or down it takes 2 movement (like it's in 1 square but moving through it costs 2)
<Daifan> did anyone respond to Jimba or react to us at all?
<AshnabisGM> The people around are scared and are mostly panicking, although they can definitely see you / notice you.
<Daifan> what about the dudes he addressed directly
<AshnabisGM> The stoneguards seem intent on the temple and either don't understand Jimba or don't react to him.
<Daifan> I'm just gong to double move a little closer
<AshnabisNarrator> Katenzhi is next, then
<Katenzhi> I'm going to activate my zone of confusion, 50% miss chance.
<Daifan> ugh I am going to assume there is no way to magic out of this scenario if I'm seeing it with the true seeig still
<AshnabisNarrator> then it's the stoneguards
<AshnabisGM> The stoneguards are moving forward in formation headed directly for the temple. They see you, clearly, but are not interested in engaging.
<AshnabisNarrator> Junan's turn

  • Junan not knowing exactly what is going on will double move to get a better view

<Junan> do we try and stop them?
<Daifan> why?
<AshnabisNarrator> Jimba's turn
<Katenzhi> [w]Ancestors damn it, Jimba...
<Jimba> I'll move to here to block the door and take the Total Defense action.
* Daifan sighs
<AshnabisGM> okie dokie, that's fine
<AshnabisNarrator> Veznara's turn
<Katenzhi> He just has to be noble.
<Jimba> I will also say, loudly, "Okay, I don't know what's going on, but I feel like someone is trying to show us something, but it would help if they'd explain it!"
<Llillilli> internal facepalm
<Veznara> I'll Hallow everybody for the 20% miss chance, and say in Ombesh "Stoneguard Khozra... why are you all here? (Hey, we're in it already, right? :P )
<Jimba> (There's no reason this has to end in violence. :P )
<Katenzhi> (I mean, I'm pretty sure it already did)
<AshnabisGM> One of them - the blue one marked - says in archaic Ombesh, 'We're coming for the lost child - he's in here, Holy Hand'
<Jimba> (It started in violence, but we can break the cycle. ;) )
<Katenzhi> (They killed Biv. I want to break more than their cycles)
<Jimba> (I mean, these specific people didn't. In this past vision or whatever)
<AshnabisGM> ok, we're back around to the top
<AshnabisNarrator> Llillilli's turn
<AshnabisGM> Llillilli
<Jimba> (Julie and Steve, can we understand the archaic Ombesh?)
<Llillilli> I'm just going to move up for now
<AshnabisGM> Yes, you can - it's like the old timey way Lentus talks
<Jimba> (Okau, cool :) )
<Llillilli> I'm not in their way I just want to be handy if they attack Jimba
<AshnabisNarrator> Daifan's turn
<Daifan> Is stoneshape n the allowed spells list?
<AshnabisGM> yes I think so
<Daifan> I'd liek to just make a new door here
<AshnabisNarrator> a little corpseborn door for a little corpseborn :)
<Daifan> I hear these things are supposed to have side entrances anyway :p
<AshnabisGM> ok make your roll
<Daifan> rolling 1d20+10 (14)+10=24
<AshnabisGM> ok, nice little budoor for nice little budal
<Jimba> (hee)
<Daifan> cool, what can I see inside atm?
<AshnabisGM> sec
<Daifan> kk

<AshnabisGM> Daifan, inside the temple, you see a structure that looks (of course) rather like the one you are familiar with from its ruined state. But in place of the statue of the woman / Sashni, there is instead, a stone ossuary. It is in a very old style, made of marble, with carved leaves and flowers around the sides, and on the top, on each corner of the top slab, is carved a small fruit in
<AshnabisGM> marble, each with four leaves atop it.
<Daifan> no people in here though?
<AshnabisGM> Yes, there are several people in here - villagers. You did see both the priest who you saw initially, and Sashni herself, come in here, before the stoneguards arrived. They are presumably among them.
<AshnabisGM> The stoneguard at the lead speaks:
<Stoneguard> Stand aside!
<Jimba> You lose nothing if you just explain what's going on. Please!

<Katenzhi> hmmm, I guess just waiting there for now.
<Veznara> "Wait!" (To the Stoneguards)
<AshnabisNarrator> stoneguards' turn
<AshnabisGM> the stoneguards command you to stand aside - are you complying or are they coming through you, Jimba?
<Jimba> They're gonna have to come through.
<AshnabisGM> aight
<Jimba> (Eep!)
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+10 (11)+10=21
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+10 (7)+10=17
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+10 (19)+10=29
<AshnabisGM> I presume only the 29 hits?
<Jimba> My AC with Total Defense is 30 :)
<Veznara> (Don't forget, 50% miss chance and then 20% miss chance!)
<AshnabisGM> no shit 30
<Katenzhi> (20% miss chance, I mistyped earlier)
<Veznara> (Ah, sorry.)
<AshnabisGM> apparently it doesn't matter cause these guys all missed
<Jimba> Yeah, I replace the bonus from Dodge with the +4 from total defense, and I moved. So, yeah, 30.
<Llillilli> well then
<AshnabisNarrator> Ok, if the stoneguards are done, it's Junan's turn
<Llillilli> I mean, only so many of them can attack you
<Jimba> (Because total defense is also a Dodge bonus)
<Junan> (do I stick up for Jimba?... Like Im not sure what to do in this crazy scene?)
<Jimba> (I mean, I'm managing for now :P Jimba can bob and weave pretty good.)
<Junan> "there must be a way we can discuss this without resorting to violence immediately. Please let us take some time!"

  • Junan will use Calm on the Stoneguards

<Llillilli> so what's their save on that?
<Junan> DC 22
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (18)+2=20
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (9)+2 =11
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (4)+2=6
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (17)+2=19
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (8)+2=10
<AshnabisGM> rolling 1d20+2 (13)+2=15
<AshnabisGM> top notch failing, guys
<Jimba> (hee)
<Katenzhi> (LOLOLOL)

Inside the vision, they speak with Sashni

* Stoneguard is moved by Junan's calming voice.
<Stoneguard> We need you to understand. Rushultagri, the lost child, is being kept within. Let us retrieve the lost child and we'll leave the village unharmed!
<Katenzhi> Why do you need the child?
* Llillilli is going to slip around the side to see where Daifan went
<Junan> And if they are yours to retrieve, why are they here?
<Stoneguard> He is Zunuga's own son. The Ancestor of the First Mother.
<Stoneguard> Our purpose here is righteous and we shall not be dissuaded.
<Veznara> They wish to protect the child. I understand. But, noble Stoneguards, I am sure those within also feel they are protecting the child.
<Veznara> I am sure the Holy Prophetess would not wish them harmed. Let us discuss the matter with them.
<Junan> Yes, those in the temple, please come forth, there should be away to resolve this
<Veznara> If She commended the child to their care, should that not be respected?
<Stoneguard> They do not speak our tongue, and do not share our ways.
<Veznara> And yet, they are people. The Prophetess' message was for all humans, surely.
<Junan> I am a skilled linguist, if you allow me I can bridge the gap
<Veznara> This can be a joyous occasion; let us not mar it with violence.
* Jimba nods.
<Jimba> Please.
<Veznara> (I think I'll Hallow myself for a competence bonus if Diplomacy is involved, here...)
<Stoneguard> The Osnabi are not our friends - do not pretend otherwise.
<AshnabisGM> As you are conversing with the leader of the Stoneguards, Sashni comes out of the building. Immediately, the stoneguards all freeze in place.
<Jimba> What does that have to do with the care of the-
<Junan> They need not be enemies either... the world is full of enough dangers
<Daifan> (how does this impact what's hapening inside - I assume I just see her walk out of the throng?)
<AshnabisGM> Daifan - all of the villagers inside have also stopped moving.
<Sashni> You would reason with them. To plead with them?
<Katenzhi> It's his thing.
* Sashni moves with a lithe grace past Jimba, and out to the stoneguards, cupping one on the cheek.
<Veznara> Yes. They are not evil - or do not see themelves as such.
<Daifan> I will walk through the temple to he front then
<Veznara> Few people truly think of themselves as evil.
* Jimba watches Sashni closely.
<Jimba> Isn't it better to at least try?
* Llillilli is with Daifan
<Veznara> They think they are doing a good thing - acting to protect the lost child of the Prophetess Zunuga.
<Sashni> That is so. But what are good and evil but illusions? Tales we tell, of ourselves and of others.
<Jimba> That's usually the sort of thing someone says right before they do something terrible.
<Veznara> I think they are real... but it is not always easy to tell which is which.
* Sashni waves her hand at the scene around you, at the villagers.
<Sashni> These are my people, as once we were, and perhaps shall be again. The Ruzuldaari of the Olodzoi. Away from judgement, away from Empire. Until we were not.
<Daifan> Why does it even matter This isn't real. If something like it happened, it is already done.
<Sashni> These men came, they took ... everything. Almost.
<Jimba> Almost?
<Sashni> I am still here, to remember. The burden of sainthood was placed upon me by these men, seeking to find meaning in their own lives through other people's pain. For them, the promise of Ruzuldaar justified it all. That their own priests betrayed them is fitting.
<Sashni> They deserve everything that happened to them. To be alone, betrayed, forgotten, in death.
<Veznara> The promise of Ruzuldaar - is that your name for the Rushultagri?
* Sashni nods.
<Sashni> He is inside, the great Ancestor of our lineage, of our tribe.
<Veznara> And you are his people?
<Veznara> Will you tell us how he came to be here? Did his mother send him to you?
<Veznara> Or rather, her followers?
<Daifan> Ugh
<Sashni> Yes, long ago. Long before my birth, so it is told. He never knew her.
<Veznara> Of course. Of course.
<Sashni> We cared for him, revered him. And they took him away.
<Veznara> And Khozra... he was one of those who did this.
<Sashni> Indeed. He and all the soldiers who came to this land.
<Sashni> He will be unmissed. His essence will serve to join with mine, two into one, and in it, I shall become stronger in our unity. Is that not what you teach? The body binary, an illusory twoness given way to a greater Coherence?
<Daifan> hardly
<Veznara> But he can serve you better if you do not!
<Veznara> He was a child of the dead.
* Llillilli makes a grossed out face.
<Veznara> And now he is, like you, a saint.
<Sashni> He will never serve me. Why would he?
<Jimba> Wait. Did he do *this* specifically?
<Daifan> no!
<Jimba> I mean, there aren't actually six of him.
<Daifan> He was Budal, he was certaily not a stonneguard :p
<Sashni> What does it matter if it was him, or another like him?
<Daifan> None of this matters
<Jimba> Because punishing someone for what someone *like* them did is...stupid.
<Daifan> you can't undo the past
<Sashni> I am not punishing him. I am freeing him.
<Jimba> As you would want to be freed?
<Daifan> He's not very keen on it
<Jimba> Against your will?
* Daifan says, deadpan
<Veznara> The Stoneguards were indeed punished for their actions here, with betrayal.
<Sashni> I am not here to argue with you. You are, in fact, in no position to argue.
<Jimba> Why are you here?
<Jimba> Why are *we* here?
* Jimba takes a step closer to her.
<Sashni> You are here because you stand in my way. And those who stand in my way often regret it.
* Llillilli tenses
<Sashni> I do not seek to be your enemy.
<Katenzhi> You killed my friend.
<Jimba> Nor I yours, but perhaps I can see the wisdom of your stance.
<Veznara> But Khozra can serve a greater purpose!
<Jimba> Perhaps people can be condemned for what those like them have done.
<Jimba> And your people killed Bivizmi.
* Jimba stabs her.
<AshnabisGM> You find yourself unable to stab her, Jimba.
<Jimba> (Well, he tried :P )
<Sashni> This is my world. I make the rules.
<Daifan> ugh
* Jimba sighs.
<Jimba> Kat, fry her.
<Veznara> NO!
<Sashni> Your friend - she is an invader. Come to find meaning, just as these stoneguards were, only in Source, not in ancestors.
<Katenzhi> I don't think that will work here either.
<Veznara> No violence!
<Veznara> Khozra is a Corpseborn Saint!
<Jimba> Yeah, Vez, and this crazy saint is going to eat him!
<Sashni> And thus none will miss him when he is gone.
<Veznara> But if more people know he exists, that will reveal a great truth!
<Sashni> In taking him into me, I protect myself against all you who would create a new Empire.
<Sashni> Do not protest that it is not so, for I see many things in men's eyes, the ones who would violate me, and the ones who would violate this land.
* Jimba laughs.
<Sashni> You would seek meaning out of Khozra - but it is not your meaning to have, not yours to make.
<Jimba> You think *we* want a new empire?
<Jimba> This lot?
<Katenzhi> And all that excuses the horrible shit you and your people have done?
<Jimba> Lady, you really are insane.
<Sashni> I am not interested in your judgement. But I will make you a ... deal.
<Katenzhi> Fuck you.
<Veznara> Kat!
<Katenzhi> What?
<Jimba> We have absolutely no reason to believe anything you say at this point.
<Veznara> Let us at least listen!
<Sashni> Allow me to complete my work here. Your friend, Ufrim, he will be released, unharmed. And you will never be bothered by me again.
<Jimba> Veznara, she is a *liar*, blinded by her prejudice and hate.
<Sashni> We merely mean to be left alone.
<Daifan> you absolutely have no power to guarantee that
<Veznara> And what of Khozra?
<Jimba> You know we can't guarantee you'd be left alone anyway.
<Katenzhi> You mean to kill anyone who doesn't leave you alone.
<Katenzhi> Even if they don't know they're bothering you
<Jimba> You'll just kill the next group that stumbles upon you.
<Jimba> And the one after that, and so on. And their blood would be on our hands if we allowed it.
<Sashni> What choice do you have?
<Jimba> We'll figure it out.
<Katenzhi> There's always a choice.
<Jimba> Either way, fuck you.
<Daifan> if we didn't have the power to stop you, you wouldn't be fucking around with us now and wasting time.
* Jimba sighs.
<AshnabisGM> A blink of an eye, and the village dissolves around you, and you are back in the temple.

Failing to reason with her, they emerge from the vision to find the ritual nearly complete

<Daifan> (I just want to know if it looks like they're done the thing :p)
<AshnabisNarrator> (thing is still happening)
<Daifan> (okay)
<AshnabisNarrator> When you wake from your vision, you are lying on the ground, under the watchful eyes of the two stoneguards. The ritual seems to be reaching some kind of climax. Ufrim holds a knife of some kind of strange crystalline material, as if he is going to stab Khozra. He looks upset and seems to be struggling to resist, but perhaps is operating under some kind of magic compulsion.
<Daifan> "Kat, don't let him move"
<AshnabisGM> Daifan, Veznara, Katenzhi, please all make a Constitution check
<Katenzhi> rolling 1d20+4 (11)+4=15
<Daifan> what kind of save is it?
<AshnabisNarrator> it's just a con check
<AshnabisGM> so roll 1d20 plus your con bonus
<Veznara> rolling 1d20+1 (1)+1=2
<AshnabisGM> womp ... womp
<Llillilli> ruh roh
<Veznara> Ugh. Can I use Inspired to re-roll that? :P
<Daifan> rolling 1d20+1 (11)+1=12 (I have condition immunity now ftr)
<AshnabisNarrator> yes you can reroll it Veznara
<Veznara> rolling 1d20+1 (14)+1=15
<AshnabisNarrator> Okay - you wake dripping with water, but fortunately it seems someone dragged you out to prevent you from drowning.
<Jimba> (Whew)
<AshnabisGM> The beardy stoneguard says 'stay where you are, if you know what's good for you.'
<Llillilli> (clearly, we do not)
<Daifan> (are we prone?)
<AshnabisGM> yes, you were basically all unconscious. so on the plus side, they didn't just stab you to death while you were out
<Jimba> (Well, that was nice of them, I guess. So, we still try to fuck them up, right?)
<Daifan> (I had asked if melting the water washed the powder on it away but I never got an answer.
<AshnabisNarrator> Okay - you are prone and under guard, but you can still try to take action. We'll resume init from the top, which means Llillilli first.
<Llillilli> I just want to get up for now, is that a move?
<AshnabisNarrator> Okay.
<AshnabisGM> yup, a move
<Llillilli> k
<AshnabisNarrator> anything else, or just standing?
<Llillilli> can I ready an action to attack if they step into my threatened square uh, threateningly?
<AshnabisNarrator> sure
<Llillilli> then that
<AshnabisNarrator> Daifan, your turn. The powder is still there, if you want to try and get rid of it.
<Daifan> I will drink some fos and cast hold person on Ufraim (err, hold monster)
<AshnabisNarrator> (did you see my answer about the powder? if you want to try gust of wind or something instead - just want to make sure you know your options)
<Daifan> (sec)
<AshnabisNarrator> but you can try your plan too, either is fine! I just wanted you to know I did answer your question :)
<Daifan> (ha ha ha I can;t drink enough fos in a round to try and cast hold person. so gust of wind it is ;)
<AshnabisNarrator> okay
<Daifan> (err, hold monster he is too high level for hold person)
<AshnabisNarrator> okay, roll to cast
<Daifan> rolling 1d20+10 (9)+10=19

Their ritual interrupted, the Sashnir cultists escape with their saint, but leave Khozra behind

<AshnabisNarrator> Daifan, your gust of wind spell blows the powder on the altar's scales, scattering it everywhere.
<AshnabisNarrator> The stoneguards move first as if they are going to attack you for the affront but they are called to halt by one of the priests.
<AshnabisNarrator> Instead of attacking, they withdraw back to the altar, circling their saint, and then teleport away. Ufrim staggers and throws the knife aside, falling to his knees.
<Daifan> (Did they take Khozra?)
* Ufrim looks like he's bruised and exhausted, possibly injured.
* Daifan stands
* Daifan will go over to him
<AshnabisNarrator> Khozra remains there seated, unmoving as always.
<Daifan> I'm sorry that took so long
<Jimba> Are you all right?
<Ufrim> You need to keep him safe... I could still be a danger to him, I don't know ... they made me... I tried to resist for days but they kept trying to compel me...
* Jimba looks at Khozra.
<Jimba> Is...he all right?
<Daifan> pfft
<Daifan> he was supposed to be your problem :p
* Daifan chides, looking over Ufrim for wounds
* Ufrim does have some injuries - it looks to you like they probably did some torture, breaking fingers and ribs and so on, that he could still function with but would hurt a lot.
* Veznara approaches
* Katenzhi sits down on the muddy stones and leans back against the wall and sighs.
<Veznara> So. This... is Khozra.
<Jimba> Is he, like, still in there, Veznara?
* Daifan will do what they can as basic first aid, though obbviously he'll need longer term care
* Khozra - or you assume? a voice, anyway - speaks inside your minds. "Thank you for saving me."
<Veznara> ...yes.
<Jimba> Oh thank...whoever, I guess.
<Veznara> The Ancestors.
<Daifan> hah
* Veznara says automatically.
<Daifan> you are welcome
<Jimba> Ufrim, do you think you can walk?
<Ufrim> I think so....
<Jimba> I can go get Washteppo if you need to ride.
<Ufrim> The knife - we can't just leave it. it's something special. they'll come back for it if they can.
* Ufrim points in the direction of where he threw it.
* Veznara looks, scoping for spiritual energy...
<Daifan> you didn't have to toss is so dramatically then
<Veznara> !roll 1d20+18
* @Lan-werk rolls for Veznara: [ 1d20+18 ] getting [ 4 ] which, after the modifier [ 18 ] totals [ 22 ].
<AshnabisNarrator> You can locate the knife and make a hasty retreat with Ufrim and Khozra back to the boat.
<AshnabisNarrator> since we want to wrap up there ;)
<Katenzhi> You guys go ahead. I need to do something
<Jimba> (Heh, cool)
<AshnabisNarrator> (oh Kat is doing something, that's cool :)
<AshnabisNarrator> (not trying to cut you off!)
<Daifan> please, sink that place >.>
* Veznara frowns to herself, worried about what this "something" may be, but doesn't say anything.
* Katenzhi will head back to the persimmon grove, pour out her flask on one of the trees, and set it on fire.
* Llillilli looks unsettled
<Daifan> (I *guess* we can take Khozra :p)
<AshnabisNarrator> (I mean, Ufrim isn't going without him, I don't think)
* Veznara sighs
<Veznara> Ufrim, once you're settled, I hope you and your charge will explain some things to us.
<Veznara> I have... many questions.
<Katenzhi> On the way back, Kat will cast earthquake on the ruins, just for good measure.
<Katenzhi> roll 1d20+17
<Katenzhi> !roll 1d20+17
* @Lan-werk rolls for Katenzhi: [ 1d20+17 ] getting [ 11 ] which, after the modifier [ 17 ] totals [ 28 ].
<AshnabisGM> OK, that should succeed.
<AshnabisNarrator> The ground shudders and the remains of the temple sink further into the swampy ground, until almost nothing is left standing.
<Jimba> Good riddance.
<AshnabisNarrator> YOu can make your getaway, then.
