<Narrator> As a side note, did you guys have a thought of what you wanted to do tonight? Scouting around town, headed somewhere specific?
<Arlo> possibly scouting. I mostly was interested in gameplanning
<Arlo> I wanted to discuss the possibility of forming a makeshift adventurers guild to organize tasks and missions and stuff
<Narrator> Well, we can get started on that if people want to. That's not really going to take rolls, I wouldn't think.
<Narrator> Does Arlo have a house in/near town?
<Narrator> Rent a room, etc?
<Arlo> I pictured an apartment above or attached to the morgue or a cottage in the grave-yard
<Narrator> Graveyard cottage works.
<Narrator> Alicia, presumably Nuru was staying at an inn when the bubble happened?
<Nuru> YEah
<Narrator> Well, if we're just discussing things, we can do that if folks want.
<Narrator> I imagine there's a town meeting when the bubble comes down.
<Arlo> so we are starting at a meeting right after the bubble came down?
<Narrator> I'm thinking they'll send a couple folks to gather people right after the bubble comes down.
<Narrator> Okay, so, as soon as the bubble goes down, it's obvious something is still wrong. Fields that begin in the bubble abruptly end into untilled wilderness. A copse of trees stands where there was open pasture before the bubble.
<Narrator> Messengers say that Mayor Coldbrew is calling everyone to a town meeting at the local temple.
- Captain Luasmuark and her town guards are trying to keep order as best they can.*
<Arlo> the first thing Arlo would do is ask the captain if she needs any help
<Captain Luasmuark> Well, I'm not against it. We're going to have to deputize if things get any rowdier.
<Captain Luasmuark> Try to keep people calm, and in the temple if you can. We don't know what's out there right now, and we don't need people running off and getting lost or hurt.
<Mayor Coldbrew> Everyone, please try to stay calm!
- Kiavan Riuvu is doing a better job than the mayor. It seems like a lot of the town leaders are having a bit of a meeting of their own near the temple sanctuary.*
- Kiavan Riuvu is the town's main priest, for the record (he's on the town thread)*
<Narrator> Nuru would probably at least have met Captain Luasmuark by this point. Up to you whether she knows anyone else.
<Narrator> (Scott, is Arlo perchance trained in Intimidate?)
<Arlo> (yes)
<Narrator> (Why don't you go ahead and roll me an Intimidate check.)
<Narrator> (Alicia, anything in particular Nuru would be doing right now?)
<Nuru> (Sitting and watching people. Assessing the situation.)
<Arlo> (14)
<Narrator> Arlo makes for a fairly imposing presence, and you can tell several folks have thought better than to try to get past you out the door.
<Narrator> After a some cajoling, and a fair bit of argument, the town leaders manage to convince everyone to remain in town for the time being, at least not without letting them know. They invite anyone interested in providing assistance to stick around and discuss further plans.
<Narrator> (I take it y'all are staying?)
- Muriel stomps over to a bench and claims a seat *
9>43 PM
<Mayor Coldbrew> We need to alert the capital. Surely someone noticed a huge dome of light over the village.
<Nuru> (Nuru will stay sitting)
<Captain Luasmuark> We don't know if it's there. Or if we are. Things are still wrong out there.
Kiavan Riuvu> We have to take some action, Makuama. People won't sit still for long.
<Captain Luasmuark> I know. But we need to be organized about it.
<Captain Luasmuark> We can't just let people run around like chickens with their heads cut off.
<Captain Luasmuark> We should send scouts.
<Captain Luasmuark> I can deputize people, or Jeddas can call them reeves or whatever.
- Muriel snorts softly *
<Muriel> No amount of deputizing and reevesing is going to stop people panicking.
<Mayor Coldbrew> Hey, now, *I'll* be the one deputizing or reeving or whatever needs doing.
<Mayor Coldbrew> What's that now?
Kiavan Riuvu> You're not wrong...Muriel, right?
Kiavan Riuvu> But they've agreed to stay here where we can keep track and keep them safe, for now.
Kiavan Riuvu> The only thing that's going to help is information.
<Nuru> Do we even have any of that? Has anyone actually investigated?
Kiavan Riuvu> I think Captain Luasmuark's idea is the right one, unless anyone has other ideas?
<Captain Luasmuark> We know things beyond where the dome was are different than they were before the dome happened.
<Captain Luasmuark> That's about all we know.
<Captain Luasmuark> Also, obviously, it's night time, and the dome went up in the middle of the day.
<Captain Luasmuark> So time has obviously passed.
<Captain Luasmuark> Discounting some theories I heard...
- Captain_Luasmuark says mostly under her breath. *
- Nuru hears her and raises an eyebrow. *
- Mayor_Coldbrew straightens. *
<Captain Luasmuark> Rivergard is only 20 miles to the northeast. The capital is further, but the river makes the trip easy. Glenvost is six miles towards the capital by land. Those would be my first thoughts for sending people out.
<Muriel> Hmm. I've an old friend in Rivergard I wouldn't mind catching up with. I guess I could go.
<Nuru> You should take someone with you.
- Captain_Luasmuark looks a little skeptical. *
<Muriel> Rupert will come with me. *pats a large pocket on her skirt, a faint ribbiting sound comes out*
<Captain Luasmuark> Anyone else care to go?
<Nuru> Not to disrespect the amphibian, but I think I'll tag along.
<Captain Luasmuark> Anyone else?
<Captain Luasmuark> Two can travel light, but we also want you both home safe.
9>58 PM
Dudram> I can go.
- Dudram speaks up from near the back. He's a hobgoblin dressed in simple, but nice, traveler's garb. *
- Dudram sizes up his presumptive companions, nodding at Nuru and looking skeptically at Muriel. *
<Muriel> What time are we heading out, then? Dawn?
<Nuru> Seems appropriate.
Dudram> I'm fine in the dark, but if you want to wait, we can.
Dudram> Time is kind of an issue, though. Like people said, panic will set in again at some point.
<Nuru> I'm fine with going now, as well.
<Muriel> Well, I suppose if you don't mind an old lady stinking a bit, I won't mind the lot of you
<Narrator> (ftr, everybody, including Arlo if he's going, have low-light or darkvision)
<Narrator> (Also, you can change it, but Muriel is like 24)
<Muriel> (she talks shit)
<Muriel> (also, how long a trip is that, in days?)
<Narrator> (heh, legit)
<Narrator> (Sorry, 20, but she does have gray hair already)
<Narrator> (You could make Rivergard in a day.)
<Narrator> (By about dusk tomorrow, if you make decent time)
<Narrator> (Maybe a little before)
<Muriel> (are we going all the way to the capital, or just Rivergard?)
<Narrator> (Rivergard is away from the capital)
<Muriel> (ah, ok)
<Narrator> (The capital is northwest of you, Rivergard is a fort/small town northeast)
<Captain Luasmuark> Okay, we just need to know what's going on. Don't do anything dangerous. Run if you find any trouble. All right?
<Nuru> Sure thing, cap'n.
- Captain_Luasmuark raises an eyebrow at that, but nods. *
- Captain_Luasmuark will organize some supplies for you. *
<Narrator> (You'll have a little time to get together whatever equipment and such you have.)
- Muriel slips on what looks like a baby bjorn *
Dudram> What in the gods' names is that?
<Muriel> Well you don't expect him to walk the entire way, do you?
<Muriel> His feet aren't build for ships
Dudram> Best we go by land, don't you think?
Dudram> A ship, upstream, in the dark...doesn't seem like a good idea.
<Muriel> *she rustles her pocket, and a feathery birdlike... lizardlike... thing pops out*
Dudram> Please tell me you're a caster of some kind.
- Muriel settled her dinosaur into the baby bjorn *
<Narrator> (Alicia, Nuru would have been traveling pretty light, right?)
<Nuru> (At this moment, she hasn't stolen anything, so yes.)
<Muriel> (she gonna end up with the baby bjorn)
<Narrator> (heh)
<Narrator> (Well, no response from Scott on irc or facebook. Do y'all want to go ahead and head out, and we can say he's with you later if he's supposed to be?)
<Muriel> (works for me)
<Narrator> Okay, so, you can set out towards Rivergard, in the middle of the night.
<Muriel> (this is a fantastic idea!)
<Narrator> Muriel, you're reasonably familiar with the area, and nothing is looking familiar. You're fairly certain you're seeing plants, full grown trees, even, that did not grow anywhere around here when the bubble happened.
<Muriel> The shit is this
<Narrator> The landforms seem to be basically the same, however. The river follows the same basic course, hills are where they're supposed to be.
Dudram> What?
<Muriel> Someone recarpeted the house, as it were
Muriel The bones are the same, but all the covering is different
Muriel Look at that, that's water elm, we don't get that this far south
<Nuru> Huh.
<Narrator> (Side note, for reference, we are in the southern hemisphere of this world)
Dudram> That's strange. Any idea what it means?
<Muriel> Not yet, not yet.
Muriel Right now I'm mostly hoping we're still on the same [name of planet]
<Nuru> (Bob)
<Narrator> (Golarion, presumably)
- Dudram nods. *
<Muriel> (what, now you're the king of bob?)
<Narrator> (hee)
<Narrator> As you make your way towards Rivergard, things get a little more surreal. There seems little if any sign of habitation, with none of the small outlying farmsteads that should dot this area.
<Muriel> I don't like this. They can't have gotten rid of them all. Even if they burnt the town, there'd still be old posts and things standing.
<Narrator> Coming upon an area Muriel is sure she remembers as having one of the little outposts, you spot a few figures seemingly stumbling through a grouping of stone piles.
- Muriel starts waving her arms and hollering at the folks on the shore*
<Narrator> (We were walking, remember?)
<Narrator> The figures turn almost as one, and start stumbling towards you.
- Nuru grabs one of Muriel's arms and whispers "A little discretion, ef?"
<Muriel> (I thought we were on a boat at night)
<Narrator> (Dudram was against that idea. And this is early afternoon at this point, sorry.)
<Narrator> (Up to y'all. Boat or no boat?)
<Nuru> (no boat)
<Muriel> (boatless it is, then)
<Narrator> As they move a little closer, it's easy to see all three of them are skeletons, small strips of what was once clothing or skin clinging to their forms.
Dudram> Fuuuuuck...
<Nuru> Well. That's not normal.
Dudram> They're not fast. We could probably go around.
<Nuru> I'm all for that.
<Muriel> Sounds like a plan
<Narrator> The skeletons will stumble towards you, but you can give them a wide berth and maintain your distance. After a while, you no longer see them behind you.
<Narrator> (Technically, Muriel can cast Pass Without Trace once per day, but right now it would only affect herself.)
<Muriel> (And Rupert)
<Narrator> (Heh, yes)
<Narrator> Even with the slight detour, you make good time, coming within sight of Rivergard Keep just before dusk. Immediately, it's obvious something is wrong, as the hamlet surrounding the castle looks mostly deteriorated. A few walls still stand, but maybe one building still has a roof. The Keep itself looks mostly none the worse for wear, perched overlooking the river to the south.
<Narrator> (Oh, Alicia isn't in #wcpathfindergame_ooc . Zari's coworker is there, so she's headed home. Alicia, do you want to call it for now as it's just you, then?)
<Nuru> (Yeah, sounds good)
<Narrator> (Okay, cool. I'll mark this on the game calendar, and we can figure out when to pick back up.)
<Narrator> Also, we'll get folks actually statted out. >)
