Butler Belden is a human gladiator, about the age of 50. Son of the martyred human leader Passeth Belden, he was enslaved after her arrest and execution when he was a teenager. He had a wife, Kora, another gladiator, but she was killed in a double-bill match, fighting alongside Halden - Butler consequently blames Halden for her death, even though in reality there was probably little he could have done about it. He is impatient, easily irritated, surly, drinks too much, and basically seems to hate everyone apart from his daughter Marrith.
