Summary
Kalarel explains that she is studying the rift. There is a lot of mistrust initially but we work out that she is siphoning power from the open rift to store it to use for a ritual battle that she needs to reclaim her birthright back in Thantopolis, as the last scion of her house. Closing the rift would let her harvest all she needs immediately and also solve the issue of the rift. The party agrees, warily, to assist her, after returning to talk to the Keegan and realizing that his comprehension of the situation is confused. At the end of her ritual, something appeared to go awry, and she was pulled into the portal by an unknown entity, and the party was blasted with necromantic energy, which dropped several party members. She also dropped the amulet before she disappeared.
