Firrin and paiza do some wedding planning, and settle on having the ceremony at Therma Alba. Raveni brings Norn in to meet his grandfahther - they wind up walking out on the nasty old man. Later, everyone meets up at Fritz's place to meet his brother in law, Nik, and Firrin and Paiza invite their friends to be part of the wedding.

Firrin and Paiza plan the wedding

<Firrin> (Where is Paiza staying? Could we potentially meet there?)
* Kennesaw is now known as Paiza
<Paiza> (I think we've established her family has a season home in Highmark)
<Firrin> (Oh right, I think I have picked her up from there)
* Molgrin is now known as Valar_Laurinor
<Paiza> (I don't know if I named it, but now I'm thinking The Hypogaeum, and it's mostly built into the mountain.)
<Lan-PC> (I'm lazy what does that mean :V)
<Paiza> (It just means "below ground", also "crypt" )
<Paiza> (But in Latin (Thantopolitan) it sounds fancy :P )
<Firrin> (hee yes. This is *the
* Hypogaeum ;)
* Firrin will come to be received at The Hypogaeum, then, a bit nervous despite how well things have been going
* Paiza will be waiting for Firrin in the nicely appointed if somewhat small parlor. The portion of the house aboveground is not large, but does have a nice view of the city out its many windows. A living servant (or one who can pass) will greet Firrin and usher him inside.
* Paiza is sitting well away from the windows.
<Firrin> Good morning
* Firrin rtries not to gawk too obviously
* Paiza smiles.
* Firrin will come over and take her hands in greeting
<Paiza> Good morning Firrin. Would you like some refreshments? Tea or something to nibble on, perhaps?
<Firrin> oh, tea would be nice, thank you
<Paiza> Gaius, if you would be so kind?
* Paiza is now known as Narrator
<Narrator> The servant nods and retreats.

* Firrin will sit
<Paiza> How are you? I know we have a fair bit to plan, but I don't want it to be too overwhelming.
<Firrin> I am nervous but, I'm looking forward to it too.
<Firrin> The whole.... process, for the most part, has gone much better than I'd ever dared to hope, so, I imagine this part can't be so bad
<Firrin> you?
<Paiza> Honestly, I'm hoping I can lean on your better eye for some of these things.
<Paiza> I plan to do my part, of course, but I imagine my tastes are still a bit...old-fashioned.
<Firrin> As long as whatever we wind up with is still to your liking, them I'm happy.
* Paiza smiles.
<Paiza> Well, I suppose we should start with location?
* Firrin nods
<Firrin> in that I will defer to you. I don't hve any strong opinions, or even great familiarity with what venues might be available, or appropriate...
<Firrin> Temples, I suppose?
* Paiza nods.
* Firrin says, sounding uncertain
<Paiza> They're not the only option, though, of course.
<Paiza> But I was also thinking more broadly.
<Firrin> oh?
<Firrin> Oh.
<Paiza> Having it here in Highmark sends a nice message, though I'm sure my family would prefer Thantopolis. That's a bit of the problem, really. Perhaps a third option, splitting the difference somehow?
<Firrin> Hmmm....
<Firrin> As long as its somewhere that isn't too inaccessible...
<Paiza> For your mother?
<Firrin> yes. She will insist on going, if she can.
<Firrin> I'd prefer somewhere not too taxing, if that's possible...
<Paiza> Well of course she's coming. It would be terrible to exclude her.
<Paiza> Hmm. Are you familiar with Therma Alba?
<Firrin> I think Fritz mentioned it?
* Paiza nods.
<Firrin> A health resort?
<Paiza> Yes, that's right.
<Paiza> Some people even honeymoon there, the pools are lovely.
<Paiza> They would have everything to make your mother comfortable while we were there.
<Firrin> Oh, that would be very good, I think...
* Firrin does sounds a little worried though
<Paiza> Fritz's brother-in-law is the heir, and my family has long ties to the Amathalises.
<Paiza> You don't like it? We can find somewhere else, of course.
<Firrin> No, it sounds perfect!
<Firrin> I just, I know my father will balk at something so expensive, and He'll probably embarrass everyone but also, if it *is* very expensive... I wanted to ask Mol to stand with me....
<Paiza> I had assumed Mol would be with you, yes. And your father can rest assured my family will pay for everything.
* Firrin takes a deep breath but resists the easy :)
<Firrin> alright.
<Firrin> I do think it sounds very nice. I just wish I had more to contribute than... ideas.
<Paiza> Well, what sort of thing would you like to contribute?
<Firrin> well, any sort of means of my own. It's.. well, it is what it is.
<Paiza> What if you got the rings?
<Paiza> That's a pretty important part. :)
<Firrin> alright.
<Paiza> I don't want you to feel bad about this. :/
<Paiza> Rather, I don't want to make you feel bad.
<Paiza> I feel like I'm saying this incorrectly.
<Firrin> I don't, not really. I want to marry you, and build a strong partnership, and I believe we can, and be happy in our own way, and that's what's most important
<Paiza> But...?
<Firrin> I do just wish that, if I can't come into this on ... an even material footing, then I should at least aim to bring fewer other complications than I have....
<Firrin> I know we've a;ready talked through these things.
<Firrin> But it's difficult to wrap my head around everything and not feel like I'm out of place, or tricking you, or something else I should feel guilty of, when we are really making these kinds of plans
* Paiza gives Firrin a sympathetic look.
<Paiza> Is there anything I can do to allay that feeling?
<Paiza> I mean, I think we may be entering this marriage quite a bit more, hmm, honestly and aware than most.
<Paiza> Which is a good thing, to clarify.
<Firrin> I think I just have to push through these feelings. It is a relief to know that... I can say these things. Yes.
<Firrin> So, Therma Alba.
<Paiza> I can't promise never to be upset or anything, but I think it best for both of us if we can always be honest with each other.
* Firrin nods
<Paiza> All right, Therma Alba it is.
<Firrin> I don't think anyone can promise never to be upset, I don't think I would trust someone who did.
* Paiza nods.
* Firrin clears his throat
<Firrin> How large a wedding party?
<Paiza> Well, I was thinking my cousin Aurelia, and my friend Octavia. I was considering perhaps some of the friends we've made this season, Saiya, Galatea, Mitula perhaps...
<Paiza> What were you thinking?
<Firrin> Other than Mol... Raveni, Norn, Fritz, hmmm....
<Firrin> maybe Euphrastus, if the place would be accommodating?
<Firrin> I suppose if it is outside it wouldn't be an issue
<Paiza> I'm sure there's somewhere at Therma Alba that can accommodate him.
<Firrin> alright then, if we are looking for five, those would be mine.
<Firrin> if they all agree
* Paiza nods.
<Firrin> I think the last of the major questions then is.... when?
<Firrin> I suppose that might be partly dependent on the capacity of the Venue
<Firrin> or availability, rather
<Paiza> Well, sooner is better for my family, but we don't *have
* to rush.
<Firrin> Sooner is fine.
* Firrin replies quickly
<Firrin> both on account of my mother, but also.... honestly the sooner I am out of my father's house, the better >.>
<Firrin> we can see what the venue can accommodate - I can ask Fritz, perhaps, unless you have a closer connection there
<Paiza> It couldn't hurt to make inquiries from either direction, I think.
* Firrin nods
<Firrin> then on to the more fun details, i think :)
<Paiza> Oh?
* Paiza says with a smile.
<Firrin> Are there any traditions I shod be aware of, from your family? and do you have any thoughts for your dress? In the general sense...
<Paiza> Well, my family will want me in something more traditional, but I was hoping you could help me find something more modern and fashionable?
* Firrin nods eagerly
<Firrin> what does 'traditional' look like?
<Paiza> Basically a nice toga. >.>
<Paiza> A bit fancier than that, and I know there's some revival styles, but I would like to look at least a bit more like a Highmarker, I think?
* Firrin nods, thinking
<Firrin> I can find some kind of compromise I think..... what colours?
<Paiza> I'm truly not great with this sort of thing. What would go well with my coloring, do you think?
* Firrin smiles
<Firrin> Bold or soft?
<Paiza> Soft, I think?
<Firrin> white, a light grey, or a light yellow or gold, maybe... Pink?
<Firrin> maybe the right shade of purple, hmmmm
<Paiza> Pink could be fun. :)
* Firrin smiles at that
<Firrin> So I'm told
<Paiza> o.O
<Firrin> <- is pink
<Paiza> (Yeah, I know)
<Firrin> I have some ideas

Raveni reluctantly brings Norn in to meet his grandfather

* Norn smiles contentedly on the ride back.
<Norn> I hope I'm not too presumptuous in thinking that was a satisfactory outing. :)
* Raveni is definitely wondering if he can get away with more kissing before they arrive.
<Raveni> Apart from a certain interruption, I agree. I don't think I'm going to be able to look Trev in the eye for a while though.

<Norn> Oddly, I think he can be trusted to keep *other

<Raveni> I'm fairly certain that he doesn't run in the same circles as my grandfather at least, that's the important thing.
<Norn> If he did, would you want to know?
* Raveni looks vaguely nauseous at the idea.
* Norn reaches for Raveni's hand to give it a reassuring squeeze.
<Norn> I'm sure you're right.
<Raveni> Oh gods, I hope so.
* Norn chuckles.
<Raveni> However, I must insist that you make it up to me for putting that image into my head.
<Norn> What did you have in mind?
* Raveni grins mischievously.
<Raveni> You'll find out.
* Raveni glances out of the carriage window.
<Raveni> It looks as though we're about to arrive. Would... would you perhaps like to come in for a little while?
<Norn> I'd be honored.
* Fritz is now known as Mshauri
* Raveni gets out of the carriage and offers a hand to Norn.
* Norn takes the offered assistance with a smile.
* Mshauri is lying down outside on the steps
<Raveni> I'll make us some tea, if that's to your liking.
<Norn> That sounds nice.
<Norn> Hello Mshauri.
<Raveni> Oh, hello Mshauri. What are you doing out here?
* Mshauri looks around
<Mshauri> Waiting >.>
<Raveni> For me?
<Mshauri> The Old Lord wants to meet your Guest >.>
<Norn> Ah.
<Raveni> Well, fuck.
* Norn casts a surprised glance towards Raveni at that.
<Norn> How bad is this?
<Raveni> What are your feelings on running away and never returning to Highmark?
<Mshauri> I'll go with you, and keep quiet. because of course I can't talk

<Raveni> I appreciate it, my friend.
<Mshauri> and Valacirca is like Waay better than that Halfing guy I got hm all worried about so it'll be fine!
<Norn> (to Raveni) I'm willing to run if that's what you want, but I think it might be best all around if we face the music as it were.
<Raveni> (to Mshauri)...you what?
<Raveni> (to Norn) You're probably right. Still, I can dream.
<Mshauri> yeah what do you think he was so pissed about? GOtta set the bar low so when you bring in someone else it'll go more smooth, see
* Mshauri waggles his floppy ears
<Mshauri> Schemes
<Norn> Not a bad plan, really.
* Raveni pinches the bridge of his nose and lets out a sigh.
<Norn> A good feint, then come in for the real blow.
<Raveni> It's certainly not the worst plan he's ever come up with at least. (to Mshauri) I thought we talked about you making schemes without telling me.
<Mshauri> hey I've been cooking this oen for a while now. Let's see how it pans out >:3
* Paiza chuckles.
<Paiza> (ww)
* Norn chuckles.
<Raveni> If this backfires, you owe me one.
<Raveni> Come along, let’s face the music.
* Valar_Laurinor will have a servant request that you come to his study as soon as you reach the door, presumably.
* Mshauri will slink along on raveni's other side
* Raveni checks their outfit nervously as they walk, making sure everything is laying properly.
* Norn will walk along with a studiously calm expression.
* Valar_Laurinor is seated in a large armchair, reading, but will glance up when you come in, looking at you over the top of his glasses.
<Valar_Laurinor> Ah, grandchild. I see you have brought your ... guest with you.
* Valar_Laurinor speaks with a cool and detached tone
* Norn will wait to be introduced before speaking.
<Raveni> (with a small bow) Grandfather, may I introduce Cano Valacirca?
* Valar_Laurinor gives Norn a look over that is clearly both disapproving and disappointed.
* Raveni unlike in other stressful situations that they have been in, there is no sign of Raveni's feline features other than his dragonmark.
<Valar_Laurinor> I see.
<Norn> An honor to make your acquaintance, Valar Laurinor.
* Norn bows precisely.
* Valar_Laurinor makes the most minimal nod he can, basically an acknowledgement but only barely
<Raveni> Is there something you wished of me, grandfather?
<Valar_Laurinor> I had hoped you might account for your behaviour this afternoon.
* Raveni clenches his hands behind his back.
<Raveni> We went to a gallery of historical artifacts and have only just returned, my lord.
<Valar_Laurinor> Is that so?
* Norn nods.
* Raveni is speaking in a near-monotone with a blank face. There is no sign of his distress beyond his hands, out of sight of his grandfather.
<Raveni> It is, grandfather.
<Valar_Laurinor> How educational.
<Valar_Laurinor> You do recall the purpose of your season here, do you not?
<Raveni> To make an acceptable match, grandfather.
<Valar_Laurinor> Indeed.
<Valar_Laurinor> And what steps have you taken to fulfill this intention?
* Norn will look at Raveni for a moment with a questioning look.
<Raveni> I have cultivated a group of acquaintances of acceptable social station and have been spending time with one whom I have expressed interest, sir.
* Valar_Laurinor glances at Norn, again, rather dismissively.
* Raveni glances at Norn out of the corner of his eye and then resumes staring at a point just over his grandfather's shoulder. His hands are clenched so tightly together that the bones practically creak.
<Valar_Laurinor> Surely I have made it abundantly clear to you that this type of ... interest... will not bear fruit.
<Norn> I don't mean to offend, my lord, but in what way?
<Raveni> You have, sir, but--
* Raveni looks a little shaken by Norn's question.
<Valar_Laurinor> A union that will produce offspring is necessary.
<Norn> Should Raveni do me the great honor of choosing me as a partner, I assure you, offspring would very much be a possibility.
<Norn> (to Raveni) Not to get ahead of ourselves, or to speak for you.
* Valar_Laurinor frowns
* Raveni gives Norn an incredibly brief, tense smile.
<Raveni> What he says is true, grandfather.
<Valar_Laurinor> By some sort of abnormal, scandalous, or costly means, I take it?
<Norn> I'm not sure what you mean by the former two, but clearly the latter should be little issue for families as grand as ours, Valar.
* Valar_Laurinor makes a disgruntled hmph
<Valar_Laurinor> Wasteful! Shameful! Disgraceful!
* Norn raises an eyebrow.
<Norn> Yes, I would agree that your display here is those things, my lord.
<Valar_Laurinor> How. DARE. You speak to me in such a manner!
* Raveni gives Norn a wide-eyed, slightly horrified look.
* Mshauri leaaaans against Raveni but will also give Norn the stink eye
<Norn> We both speak with the full honor of our houses, Valar.
<Norn> And Raveni has represented yours well throughout the time I have known them.
* Valar_Laurinor sputters indignantly
<Valar_Laurinor> Grandchild, if this individual truly is your choice, you have certainly chosen poorly!
* Valar_Laurinor manages to get out eventually
* Raveni clenches his teeth.
<Raveni> (to Valar) Do. NOT. Speak to him like that.
<Valar_Laurinor> I would have expected better of you.
<Raveni> While I expected exactly this kind of vile behaviour from you.
* Valar_Laurinor looks shocked
<Raveni> If you wish to berate me, fine. Do not speak to him like that or I will cease to be so accommodating, grandfather.
* Raveni looks truly angry for the first time in his grandfather's presence.
<Valar_Laurinor> Oh?
* Valar_Laurinor gives a brief, cold laugh.
<Valar_Laurinor> And what will you do?
<Norn> What will *you
* do, my lord?
<Raveni> You should not forget that you need me. I can always walk away and leave you heir-less once more. I'm done letting you hold my mother's wellbeing over me, especially at the cost of someone I care about greatly.
* Norn reaches for Raveni's hand.
<Valar_Laurinor> You will remove yourselves from my presence, if this is how disrespectfully you choose to treat your grandfather.
<Norn> As you wish, my lord. Your hospitality has been most illuminating.
<Norn> Raveni?
<Raveni> We shall leave, and give you the time to consider just how badly off you will be if you disown me. It should be a familiar situation to you - you were there once before when you disowned my father, after all.
<Raveni> Good day, Valar.
* Raveni takes Norn's hand and walks out, head high.
* Norn will walk out with Raveni.
<Norn> (once out of earshot) Are you alright? I know I escalated things in there...
<Raveni> (breathing fast) I need to get out of here
* Norn nods, and will take Raveni back out to the carriage.
* Raveni As they enter the carriage, Raveni gestures to Mshauri to join them with shaking hands.
* Mshauri will go with
<Mshauri> oooooof
* Raveni notices that their hands are bleeding in a couple of places from their own nails and just stares blankly at them.
* Mshauri will sit on Raveni's feet
* Norn takes Raveni's hands in his, taking out a handkerchief to dab at the blood.
<Norn> It will be all right, I promise.
* Mshauri starts to say someehign, but will keep his mouth shut and just lay on Raveni's feet
<Raveni> (Quietly) I know, I just. I can’t believe I was so scared of him for so long when it just left me so quickly. I couldn’t stand to hear him talk about you like that
<Norn> Likewise. I'm so sorry he's treated you like that.
<Norn> You should never have had to deal with that.
<Raveni> Thank you for not running away, screaming. I wouldn’t have blamed you if you had.
<Norn> I've faced worse, I promise, and would happily do so for you.
* Raveni leans into Norn’s side and tips his head to gently rest it against his.
* Norn puts his arms around Raveni.
<Mshauri> >.> don't get too carried away I'm still right here >.>

Liralu asks his friends to be part of the wedding :3

* Fritz will invite folks to come to his place for an afternoon tea then :3

* Nik is not offended if you call it your place ;)

* Saiya will certainly be there :3
* Fritz will definitely be excited to introduce Nik and Saiya

* Fritz introduces the pretty human woman :V
* Nik is definitely (to appearances) a human woman with long very pale hair, wearing some kind of caftan type style thing.
<Nik> It's lovely to meet you all, I'm so glad this house hasn't been just sitting empty and sad while we've been away :3
<Fritz> no, not at all!
<Raveni> It’s nice to meet you too!
<Saiya> Your robe is so pretty, did you get it in Ahkas?
<Nik> Oh, yes, I did :D the local styles there are so comfortable to relax in - and very forgiving ;)
<Fritz> I still can't imagine Monty in anything like that
<Nik> Well, he would never wear it out, but around the house... he's come to appreciate the benefits ;)
* Fritz decides not to think about that too hard. "ha ha, right!"
<Firrin> I am glad everyone could come as well...
<Firrin> As You all know, Paiza and I have been engaged, and we've started seriously planning recently.
<Firrin> And, I don't want to pressure anyone unduly so we can certainly talk about things more privately, but everyone here has been a good friend, and we had hoped you might agree to be in our party....
* Firrin smiles shyly at Nik
<Firrin> It will be at Therma Alba on [date].
* Nik grins
<Nik> It's a lovely place for a wedding, I promise :D

<Nik> Lady Paiza, my parents would have it no other way - the friendship between our families is long-standing, even by our standards :)
<Fritz> I think it will be a wonderful time
<Saiya> ooh, of course I'd be thrilled to be in the party :D

<Norn> It would be an honor.
<Firrin> Oh, thank you all.
* Firrin looks to Saiya
<Firrin> and you'll be happy to know we're going with pinks for the bride's colours ;)
* Saiya claps her hands delightedly
<Saiya> My favourite :D And it will look very splendid on you, I'm sure, Paiza!
<Paiza> Thank you; I'm leaning on Firrin's talent with designs and coloring.
<Nik> Everyone should also remember to bring something suitable for bathing, so you can take full advantage of the springs :)
<Paiza> Oh, yes, it's so lovely there.
<Nik> of course bathing nude is also fine, but I know some people prefer to have a bathing costume ;)
* Saiya looks both intrigued and delighted at that
* Norn is now known as Galatea
* Galatea makes a momentarily terrified look at that thought.
* Fritz probably blushes a little
* Firrin gives a little :)
<Firrin> well, as ling as everyone is comfortable :)
* Raveni dreamily gazes at Norn before catching himself.
* Norn grins.
<Fritz> it should be, well, a less harrowing kind of excitement than our trip to Simmerwater.
<Fritz> but still exciting!
<Paiza> I should hope so.

<Paiza> Yes, though there will likely be enough of those.
<Nik> Probably no demons either!

* Raveni looks both intrigued and concerned.
<Fritz> ha ha well hopefully no one has any vengeful relatives willing to make deals with enemies of Nerath :D
<Raveni> ...Asking for a friend, what kind of vengeful warrants that, exactly?
<Firrin> I would hope none :o
<Fritz> ha ha, right?
<Fritz> I mean, forget I said that :x
* Fritz says, trying not to look at Nik
* Nik just smiles placidly
<Nik> I'm sure everything will be just lovely
<Galatea> Family drama. Won't be an issue, I'm sure.
<Saiya> Will there be a lot of guests? is it a big event? :D
* Saiya asks Firrin and Paiza
* Firrin looks to Paiza to answer that, since she. Actually has family
<Paiza> As many as we can accommodate, and that won't put the Amalthalises out.
<Paiza> I have a lot of family to invite, and of course we'll need to fill Firrin's side as well. :)
<Nik> Oh, they're used to it :) and your family mostly don't... take up many resources, if you will.
* Nik says with a smile
* Paiza nods.

<Molgrin> My mom would honestly be a little mad if you didn't invite her, but I mean... if you want, I can expand it to my siblings and aunts and uncles and cousins if you want, however many you feel you can accommodate :)
<Paiza> The more the merrier. :)

<Saiya> But my most important question is: are we to all have matching outfits? will we go to the dressmaker together? :D

<Nik> I was going to say, I wonder if I should get a dress? but I suppose robes suit anybody - or any body :D
<Raveni> I wouldn't say no to a dress if they're on offer?

<Norn> I think I'll stick with a suit, but I'm open to anything.
<Firrin> but, for balance, are you okay to stand on my side?

<Raveni> I'll stand wherever you'll have me.
* Raveni smiles happily and slips a hand into Norn's.
* Nik smiles a little wistfully
