Spin upon the breeze
Come to rest your head and husk
Amid the homeward trees.
Sweet samara, falling down
Journey at its end
Lay your soles in autumn leaves
And sleep beside your friend.
Sweet samara, seedling-crown
Twirling with your twin
Spiral coursing groundward
You shed your paper-skin.
Sweet samara, golden brown
Sleep in winter's loam
Then in spring, emergent, find
Your ever-rooty home.
