===Leonara and Yadda Discuss Her Future Prospects===
+
===Thurston and Mikethelas Give Their Blessings to the Marriage===

 +
Lamont: will receive his guests as they arrive, having tried to arrange for Nik and his parents to arrive before his uncle

Leonora: has invited Yadda over for breakfast at our Inglenook apartments.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: and Falmar will arrive at the appointed time, dressed in Highmark fashions.

Yadda: will arrive promptly at the appointed time.
+
Nik: will arrive a bit early, also dressed in a new suit of Highmark style, with his hair in a braid.

Leonora: Yadda, dear, how good to see you!
+
Lamont: (Is Nik coming with them?)

Leonora: embraces you warmly.
+
Nik: (probably yes? I assume that would be easiest.)

Yadda: will hug Leonora gently.
+
Lamont: Please come, be welcome in my home

Yadda: Very well, thank you, aunt. Although, I must confess it has been somewhat less exciting since we returned from the spa.
+
Lamont: says, trying not to me 100 million nerves

Leonora: Well, I would hope so!  Therma Alba is not normally such vigorous exercise.
+
Nik: smiles reassuringly

Yadda: Well, I don't know if | would want to do it again, but it was interesting to actually put some of my training to use for once.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: Thank you, Lord Stillmarch, you honor us with the invitation.

Leonora: I know that the Amathalis family was very grateful for all our help in the defense of the baths.
+
Falmar Amathalis: I hope you've been settling in well?

Yadda: I am sorry that their resort became the place of such an incident. Was anything ever found about the cause of the violence?
+
Lamont: yes, I've been working to make  it a more comfortable space

Leonora: Well, a little more, yes.  It appears that the demons and cultists knew some of the high-value targets who would be there.  It was not random, in other words.
+
Lamont: can entertain people in the parlour while waiting for Thurston :x

Leonora: But more than that ... well, there is an investigation ongoing.  I should not say too much more.
+
Nik: I think it's looking wonderful 🙂

Yadda: I understand.
+
Lamont: is trying to be his most proper, also, but smiles warmly at Nik

Leonora: So ... the season is almost done.  And I would not be doing my duty if I did not guide you along the way from time to time.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: smiles at Nik's comment.

Leonora: I'm presuming that you have not secretly been arranging your own marriage behind the scenes?
+
Lamont: I'm glad to hear you think so, I would like it to be a welcoming place for you in particular

Leonora: says in what you hope is a joking tone.
+
Falmar Amathalis: Are you planning to keep the apartment, my lord?

Yadda: smiles.
+
Lamont: If not this one, then one like it, unless it's owner decides he would be happy to part with it more permanently

Yadda: No, I can't say that I have, but it has been more interesting of a season than I had thought at first.
+
Nik: It is a good location in Highmark, and of course one needs to have a place here, even if it's not one's primary residence.

Leonora: Well, as you know, bringing you here this year wasn't about making a match.  I think it's been a tremendous success, really.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: nods.

Leonora: Now, I imagine your grandfather would not have been opposed to a union this year. So my first piece of advice to you is that we should come up with something that sounds vaguely promising for next year, without committing ourselves to anything.    For the old man, you understand.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: That's what I was curious about. I know there are...things set in motion, but ultimately you'd be taking up in Griffin's Crest, wouldn't you?

Yadda: Hmm, did you have something in mind?
+
Lamont: Ultimately, I suppose.  It has been my family's home here for several generations...

Leonora: Well, I wanted to ask you.  It could be as simple as, you met some female friends who have eligible brothers.
+
Thurston Allard: is announced and swoops in with an unnatural looking smile on his face

Leonora: You don't want to say anything about some man who might actually be betrothed in the next months.  That would suggest to Hruggek that we failed.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: will wait for his host to speak to the new arrival first.

Yadda: I see... I think.
+
Lamont: Thank you for joining us, Uncle.

Yadda: So nothing too specific, then.
+
Thurston Allard: I am delighted to be here for this. Your suitor seems to have done you well

Leonora: Right.  I can have Nerea make you a list.  She's very good at that.
+
Lamont: Thank you.

Yadda: nods.
+
Lamont: I would like to introduce you to his grace, the curiate Therma Alba, and his lady wife, and of course, their son, lord Evenor.  Curiate, Lady, Nik, This is my uncle, MisterThurston Allard.

Leonora: Just names of families where you met one member at an event here.
+
Nik: Good evening, Mr. Allard, and thank you for joining us.

Leonora: She may bombard you with detail, but the family won't care about all that too much.
+
Falmar Amathalis: A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Allard.

Leonora: What they want to hear is that goblin races are treated with respect and dignity, and that you personally are as well, at the season.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: Well said, my dear.

Leonora: If they hear otherwise... well, I don't need to explain how that would be bad.
+
Lamont: Please, won't you all join me in the dining room.

Yadda: Well, that shouldn't be too hard. Everyone has been most welcoming.
+
Thurston Allard: will bow or whatever the appropriate greeting is for a Curiate, though Lamont can definitely feel the momentary spike of murderous rage at being introduced merely as 'mister'

Yadda: More so than I expected, honestly
+
A delight to meet you all, I'm sure.  Let's hope my nephew's kitchen staff have done him proud.

Leonora: I don't know for certain whether I'll be here next year.  I may, or I may be back in Nachtur.
+
Nik: Thank you.

Yadda: Will I be expected to come back... alone?
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: will escort his wife to the dining room.

Yadda: If you are not here, that is.
+
Nik: will accompany Lamont

Leonora: Most certainly not!  You would have an attendant, at least.
+
Thurston Allard: will follow the rest

Yadda: nods.
+
Lamont: can escort everyone in, offering Nik his arm, and seat Nik as well, indicating where everyone is to be sat, with himself at the head of the table

Leonora: I have every confidence in you, dear.  When your grandfather started out in the streets of Highmark, he faced endless challenges.  These are different, but it is what Wengals do.
+
Nik: This looks lovely 🙂

Leonora: And someday, perhaps you will be helping my son or daughter as they come out for their first season.
+
Falmar Amathalis: Yes, a splendid supper, Lord Stillmarch.

Yadda: smiles at that.
+
Lamont: has probably fussed over the planning for this so much :x

Yadda: I still don't know about making this place my home, but I suppose another season wouldn't kill me.
+
Lamont: thank you, I hope everything is to your liking

Leonora: The season doesn't kill people. Demons do.
+
Thurston Allard: looks the whole room over critically, then nods It does look well.

Yadda: sighs.
+
Lamont: 's servants will bring out the various courses

Yadda: Demons I can handle.
+
Lamont: I'm glad to hear you say so

Yadda: Social events are a higher level encounter, so to speak.
+
Lamont: has NOT been a petty bitch and served up a bunch of stuff he kows his uncle dislikes >.>)

Yadda: I assume my friends Grega and Loriel will be pestering me for details on my time here when I get back. At least I have some good stories to tell them.
+
Thurston Allard: I admit, I had some concerns when you insisted on setting up your household from scratch, there are so many unscrupulous 'servants' looking for positions. But I can admit when I am wrong

Leonora: Perhaps one of them will join you next year.
+
Lamont: I am fortunate that Marchioness Lowmont was able to provide me some references

Leonora: That could be wonderful, especially if they're less attractive than you.
+
Falmar Amathalis: I think it's nice you're able to provide more opportunities for employment.

Leonora: says, deadpan.
+
Lamont: nods

Yadda: laughs.
+
Thurston Allard: nods a touch condescendingly Life is easier with family connections, certainly. I'm glad you two are still on good terms.

Yadda: I suppose that depends on one's tastes.
+
Lamont: hold his breath briefly before repying 'It has been good to reconnect.'

Yadda: But perhaps I can arrange it when I'm home.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: I hope Marchioness Lowmont is doing well. She's been quite helpful.

Yadda: speaking of which.... I don't suppose you've heard anything about whether Leid Vilyawen has made a match this season?
+
Lamont: She is, yes but quite busy. I was grateful she was able to make time for me.

Leonora: I haven't ... but I would be surprised if they did. Why?
+
Thurston Allard: I imagine she would be, yes.

Yadda: shrugs.
+
Lamont: nods

Yadda: Just pondering my plan of attack for next season.
+
Thurston Allard: eats quietly and politely

Leonora: That's the attitude.  It is a military operation, and the stakes are potentially even greater.
+
Lamont: will try and keep conversation moving and make sure to engage everyone, though as much as he is being very formal he can't/won't hide his fondness for Nik

Yadda: Well, the best defense is a good offense, I suppose.
+
Falmar Amathalis: will do her best to keep up the conversation.

Leonora: Speaking of which, it will behoove you to keep abreast of the latest fashions.  Were you happy with your dressmaker this year?  We can find another.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: is more reserved than usual, but doing his best.

Yadda: They were serviceable, but I did have to go back a few times to have them let out in the shoulders. And the one I wore to the spa obviously did not survive well at all. Perhaps in the future I should make sure to have them made with room for a weapon of some sort and more room to move. Just in case.
+
Lamont: respects Mikethelas's intent to not do a countermurder at this awkward dinner

Leonora: laughs.
+
Nik: will be on his most upbeat and cheerful behaviour, trying to keep things from getting too silent or awkward as well.

Leonora: Well, your grandfather and uncle would approve of that, certainly.
+
Lamont: So, as you are all aware, one of the reasons for this dinner was to discuss formalizing my engagement with Nikession.

Leonora: Although there is some value in ... conformity, I suppose you would say ... it is also important to highlight your own values and personality.
+
Falmar Amathalis: smiles.

Leonora: After all, a marriage entered into under false pretenses is hardly likely to survive.
+
Lamont: looks to Nik with a fond but nervous smile, before looking around at the adults, landing finally on Thurston

Yadda: That's the strange part. It seems like there is so much deception around all of this. All the pageantry and social fascades. It's like everyone has collectively decided to make it as difficult on each other as possible when the goal should be to get to know one another honestly.
+
Thurston Allard: smiles indulgently

Leonora: nods.
+
Yes, I suppose we might as well address the matter at hand.

Leonora: Honesty is in short supply among the elite of Highmark, I'm afraid.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: watches Thurston.

Leonora: That's unlikely to change.
+
Nik: smiles back, a bit nervous as well, but trying to be reassuring

Yadda: Mmmm...
+
Thurston Allard: You are quite young, and your beaux even younger by the standards of his people. You've also both  had a lot of upheval recently,  up to and including near death experiences, which do not always make for lasting matches. But I cannot deny that you two are well suited personally and politically. I would have to insist on a longer engagement to give you two time to be certain, but you have my blessing if the Curiate approves.

Yadda: Well, I suppose I'll have to manage. Thank you and uncle Magga for helping me navigate this. I really do appreciate it.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: makes a moment of looking to his wife before answering, though clearly he's already prepared.

Leonora: Magga's been glad to have you here.   If only because it's made me so happy to be here for you as well.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: We think you're both very well-suited, and I'm sure you will make a wonderful husband for our son. We couldn't be prouder to have you as part of our family.

Yadda: smiles
+
Lamont: Thank you.  I appreciate your kindness in saying so.

Yadda: gives her aunt another hug
+
Lamont: says to Mikethelas, and then turns to his uncle

 +
Nik: smiles, nudging Lamont's foot under the table in excitement

===Lavinia and Katherina Go Wedding Shopping===
+
Lamont: And thank you also for your permission, though I assure you, there is no question as to our certainty.

Lavinia: will recruitKatherina for a shopping trip and borrow the carriage from their mother for the purpose.
+
Lamont: smiles back at Nik

Katherina: Are we shopping for your engagement party?  Annoncement?  Portaits?  Looking for wedding ideas?  What's the goal? :D
+
Nik: Yes, thank you.

Lavinia: Oh, all of them at once, I suppose! We don't have a lot of time honestly. I don't know what we were thinking asking for a midsummer wedding!
+
Thurston Allard: Humor a cautious old man, then. I almost married once, to someone I had thought sure of. Had I acted on those false certainties, it likely would have been a disaster

Lavinia: It sounded like a good idea at the time!
+
Lamont: I have no question as to our future happiness together, let alone our suitability

Katherina: oh no, see, now we can make sue everything is nicely themes running up to your dress reveal ^-^
+
Lamont: BUt of course, I understand your hesitation.

Lavinia: Well, I need a dress first!
+
Lamont: manages to say not compltely cooly to his uncle

Katherina: yes but that's what i mean!  I we find smethign I klike then you can put little hints of whats to come inthe other ensembles, like colours or lace or prints or what have you :D  What colour dress do you want for your wedding?  have you discussed it with mother?
+
Mikethelas Amathalis:

Lavinia: Well, white is traditional, but... it's so boooring. I think I want something more colorful. Mother has left the details to me for the most part. I think she's just happy to have me engaged again.
+
I have no question as to our future happiness together, let alone our suitability

Katherina: Well your groom is very red - so something that would look pretty with that?
+
@Lamont - jump

Katherina: Do you think it could be arranged for him to show some of his tattoos?  Hmmmm
+
I don't think there's anything to worry about. You've been a good friend to Nikession, and he is, if he'll forgive his father saying so, completely smitten.

Katherina: your guests need to be appropriately jealous ;)
+
Falmar Amathalis: swats Mik's arm affectionately.

Lavinia: Ooooh... If I know Gueiris, he could probably be persuaded.
+
Nik: blushes

Lavinia: He is quite daring
+
Falmar Amathalis: You'll embarrass him, dear.

Katherina: oh yes I was thinking more of mother.  And you, I'm so glad you woudl even consider it!  :D
+
Lamont: blushes slightly also, looking to Nik

Lavinia: Hmmm... I suppose I wouldn't have considered it a few months ago, would I?
+
Lamont: It is quite a mutual feeling

Katherina: No! And I'm so happy!  Tis has done you so much good - you are thinking about what you want and what makes you happy instead of just accepting whatever mother and everyone else says. Even at the beginning of the season you just just resigned to everything, and now I hardly feel I need to worry about you at all :3
+
Nik: Well, I am! It's quite true.

Lavinia: laughs.
+
Lamont: offers Nik his hand

Katherina: have you decided where you will live?  Wil you be staying in Highmark?
+
Falmar Amathalis: smiles at them fondly.

Lavinia: Surely I haven't changed that much have I? I suppose nearly being eaten has a way of focusing ones attention.
+
Nik: takes it

Lavinia: We want to travel. Gueiris will be moving around with his position and I will go with him. At least for now. Eventually we will settle down somewhere, but we're not really sure yet. It's really quite freeing.
+
Josh: (Psst, it's early summer right now in-game 😉 )

Lavinia: And don't worry about me, Kitty. I'm more worried about you being left alone with mother!
+
Josh: (Shall we say Autumn, maybe?)

Katherina: laughs
+
Chitara: (Yep, sorry)

Katherina: I think you should worry for mother being left alone with me ;)
+
Thurston Allard: Perhaps a late autumn wedding then, as a compromise? A few months is not so long to wait

Lavinia: I can do both.
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: looks to Lamont and Nik.

Katherina: You've always been the well behaved one.
+
Lamont: IN principle, that is agreeable.  However, the war office may have other plans.

Lavinia: Well, I won't argue with that, although you have always been the more fun one 😉
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: There has been escalation in the south.

Lavinia: Have I ever told you how much I admire you Kitty? You've always had a bravery and a lightheartedness that I could never really match.
+
Lamont: nods

Lavinia: But then, you've never killed a demon, so I suppose now we're even.
+
Lamont: Indeed.

Katherina: well, I never had a chance!  And to my credit I also didn't kill an Aethrenari prince, which I think shows quite a bit of uncharacteristic restraint. So perhaps we're falling into balance ^-^
+
Mikethelas Amathalis: Well, I've given up the idea that I have much control over this, so, if you'd prefer to have things settled before any deployment, you have our blessing.

Lavinia: laughs
+
Nik: I suppose if it must be later, that's fine, but of course I would rather prefer sooner...

Lavinia: I think they call that growing up.
+
Lamont: just looks to see if Thurston will cave on this or not

Katherina: Yuck!  Dull.  ;)
+
Thurston Allard: genuinely seems to have not considered that

Katherina: I have plans to remain a much more interesting person.
+
I see your point, but I must insist. Rushing into marriage because of an impending deployment is romantic in books, but in real life less so. If the war office sends you somewhere, you may marry your young man wherever they send you or on your first leave.

Lavinia: Well, we'll see about that.
+
Lamont: We can make that work.

Lavinia: 😉
+
Lamont: says, squeezing Nik's hand

Lavinia: Oh! I believe that's Madam Bellweather's dress shop ahead.
+
Nik: nods

Katherina: Is that where we are headed, then?
+
Falmar Amathalis: smiles, and Mikethelas nods.

Lavinia: For a start. She's one of the few in this part of town who specializes in halfling dresses. We can at least look at some samples.
+
Lamont: Thank you.

Lavinia: will signal to the coach driver to let them off and leadKatherina into the shop where they can browse the dresses.
+
Thurston Allard: smiles and nods

Katherina: Of course!
+
I have no intention of standing in the way of your happiness

===Leonora Corners Thurston===
+
===Leonara and Yadda Discuss Her Future Prospects===

Leonora: will have written ahead to plan her visit for a day when Thurston is likely to be alone (except for his staff of course)
+
Leonora: has invited Yadda over for breakfast at our Inglenook apartments.

Thurston Allard: is often alone now that Lamont has moved out, he tends not to Entertain at home, so this is pretty easy
+
Yadda: will arrive promptly at the appointed time.

Leonora: will arrive, dressed in a long green dress and her pearls, nothing to suggest that she is here on Business.
+
Leonora: Yadda, dear, how good to see you!

Leonora: Mr. Allard, it's a pleasure to see you once again.
+
Leonora: embraces you warmly.

Thurston Allard: It is delightful to see you, Lady Wengal. To what do I owe the pleasure?
+
Yadda: will hug Leonora gently.

Leonora: smiles.
+
Yadda: Very well, thank you, aunt. Although, I must confess it has been somewhat less exciting since we returned from the spa.

Leonora: Well, I wanted to talk about Therma Alba.  If you have a few minutes.
+
Leonora: Well, I would hope so!  Therma Alba is not normally such vigorous exercise.

Thurston Allard: Seems confused but not worried right now
+
Yadda: Well, I don't know if | would want to do it again, but it was interesting to actually put some of my training to use for once.

Of course, yeah, It was a horrific attack, I'm very grateful that my nephew and my soon to be inlaws were not seriously harmed
+
Leonora: I know that the Amathalis family was very grateful for all our help in the defense of the baths.

Leonora: Oh, what wonderful news!  Your family and the Amathalis must be overjoyed!
+
Yadda: I am sorry that their resort became the place of such an incident. Was anything ever found about the cause of the violence?

Leonora: Lord Evenor is a fine young man. And his father is very sensibleI had a long discussion with him in the aftermath of the attack.
+
Leonora: Well, a little more, yesIt appears that the demons and cultists knew some of the high-value targets who would be there.  It was not random, in other words.

Thurston Allard: Oh, were you a guest at the time as well? I was unaware you were acquainted with the Amathalises
+
Leonora: But more than that ... well, there is an investigation ongoing.  I should not say too much more.

Leonora: Of course!  I grew up in Thantopolis, and much of my family is still there.  My family has long been friends with them, although young Nikession, I only met this year.
+
Yadda: I understand.

Leonora: And yes, my husband and I were guests at the time of the attack.  We saw much, and learned much.
+
Leonora: So ... the season is almost done.  And I would not be doing my duty if I did not guide you along the way from time to time.

Thurston Allard: Do you mean to imply you have an idea of how that attack came to be? I would be delighted to hear anything you are at liberty to share.
+
Leonora: I'm presuming that you have not secretly been arranging your own marriage behind the scenes?

Leonora: Hmm.
+
Leonora: says in what you hope is a joking tone.

Leonora: Do you know Fyan Sir Akan Sinan Nabari?
+
Yadda: smiles.

Thurston Allard: Passingly? We have met but not much more than that. I had heard that he was there at the time of the incident.
+
Yadda: No, I can't say that I have, but it has been more interesting of a season than I had thought at first.

Leonora: Yes.  In the aftermath of the event, he has come to believe that he was a target of the cultistsOne of several, it seems.
+
Leonora: Well, as you know, bringing you here this year wasn't about making a matchI think it's been a tremendous success, really.

Leonora: But needless to say, Nabari is not a man to be trifled withHe is older, but that has simply given him more fire in his heart to root out the perpetrators and anyone who would interfere with them.
+
Leonora: Now, I imagine your grandfather would not have been opposed to a union this yearSo my first piece of advice to you is that we should come up with something that sounds vaguely promising for next year, without committing ourselves to anything.    For the old man, you understand.

Thurston Allard: I imagine so. I've heard he's a fierce combatant. I would never want to make an enemy of Fyan Nabari, personally. I almost pity anyone who did.
+
Yadda: Hmm, did you have something in mind?

Leonora: Hmm, yes.
+
Leonora: Well, I wanted to ask you.  It could be as simple as, you met some female friends who have eligible brothers.

Leonora: You see, there's just one thing that is bothering him more than anything else.
+
Leonora: You don't want to say anything about some man who might actually be betrothed in the next months.  That would suggest to Hruggek that we failed.

Leonora: Amidst the belongings of one of the cultists was found a letter, an encrypted letter in fact, describing the targets of the attack. As he puts it, it was in a cipher that is one of ours. That is, an old Sentinel house cipher.
+
Yadda: I see... I think.

Thurston Allard: Thurston's eyes go wide in horror
+
Yadda: So nothing too specific, then.

Have you seen it? I'm afraid.. well, I may have spoken more than I should have in a letter. Is that why your here?
+
Leonora: Right. I can have Nerea make you a list. She's very good at that.

Leonora: What do you mean?
+
Yadda: nods.

Leonora: Are you saying you wrote a letter?
+
Leonora: Just names of families where you met one member at an event here.

Thurston Allard: nods, clearly ashamed and embarrassed
+
Leonora: She may bombard you with detail, but the family won't care about all that too much.

I did, yes. I had thought that I could trust its recipient, but even so it might have gotten lost or stolen.
+
Leonora: What they want to hear is that goblin races are treated with respect and dignity, and that you personally are as well, at the season.

Leonora: Who was the recipient?
+
Leonora: If they hear otherwise... well, I don't need to explain how that would be bad.

Thurston Allard: An old friend in Thanatopolis. (insert random NPC name here). We went to school together, and I had intended to be bragging on the company my nephew was keeping.
+
Yadda: Well, that shouldn't be too hard. Everyone has been most welcoming.

Leonora: Well I'm sure that Nabari has already talked to them.  I know he was talking to everyone.
+
Yadda: More so than I expected, honestly

Leonora: Having fought beside him at Therma Alba, I assure you that he's ferocious.
+
Leonora: I don't know for certain whether I'll be here next year.  I may, or I may be back in Nachtur.

Leonora: When he comes to talk to you, you'll want to be able to answer two things for him.   First, why the letter was written in an old Sentinel cipher, or any cipher at all.   If it was just a letter boasting about your nephew.
+
Yadda: Will I be expected to come back... alone?

Leonora: But then, you were always a bit odd.  Maybe it was just an overabundance of caution.
+
Yadda: If you are not here, that is.

Leonora: Or maybe you always write your letters to your friend in cipher, a vestige of your childhood friendship when you would write little nonsenses to one another.  I'm sure he'll have confirmed that for you.
+
Leonora: Most certainly not!  You would have an attendant, at least.

Thurston Allard: Well, you know me.
+
Yadda: nods.

Thurston smiles and shrugs
+
Leonora: I have every confidence in you, dear.  When your grandfather started out in the streets of Highmark, he faced endless challenges.  These are different, but it is what Wengals do.

I have always been an overly cautious man. Were I not... things might have been quite different.
+
Leonora: And someday, perhaps you will be helping my son or daughter as they come out for their first season.

Leonora: Of course.
+
Yadda: smiles at that.

Leonora: The other thing you'll want to be able to answer is why a man you barely know except 'passingly', and who apparently you only heard - somehow - was there at the incident, featured notably in your letter about your nephew, who doesn't even know Nabari.  Because I assure you that Nabari is going to ask.
+
Yadda: I still don't know about making this place my home, but I suppose another season wouldn't kill me.

Chitara: hta frowns
+
Leonora: The season doesn't kill people. Demons do.

I hope you don't seriously think I had anything to do with this.
+
Yadda: sighs.

Leonora: I think your letter gave the cultists information about a number of high-value targets who would be present at a major social event.
+
Yadda: Demons I can handle.

Leonora: I think that fact is going to be revealed, publicly, very soon.
+
Yadda: Social events are a higher level encounter, so to speak.

Leonora: I also think that the fact that your dear nephew is engaged to marry the son of the hosts of Therma Alba, themselves of unimpeachable conduct, is going to look very, very odd to many people.
+
Yadda: I assume my friends Grega and Loriel will be pestering me for details on my time here when I get back. At least I have some good stories to tell them.

Leonora: So you should start thinking of your story, very fast.
+
Leonora: Perhaps one of them will join you next year.

Thurston Allard: raises an eyebrow
+
Leonora: That could be wonderful, especially if they're less attractive than you.

Why should my nephew's match raise eyebrows? They are a reasonable match.
+
Leonora: says, deadpan.

Leonora: Because the attack caused irreparable damage to his parents' estate, which will one day be his.
+
Yadda: laughs.

Leonora: Perhaps you were trying to put an end to the union before it began?  I don't know what society will say, but I assure you it won't be "oh, that poor Mr. Allard, he has had such coincidental misfortune in his vicinity."
+
Yadda: I suppose that depends on one's tastes.

Thurston Allard: Am I to understand an official investigation is underway? Or do I have time to salvage my reputation beforehand?
+
Yadda: But perhaps I can arrange it when I'm home.

Leonora: There is an investigation underway, yes. Across the intelligence authorities of Thantopolis, Nachtur, Highmark, and possibly others.
+
Yadda: speaking of which.... I don't suppose you've heard anything about whether Leid Vilyawen has made a match this season?

Leonora: As you know, the Sentinels are not going to take such a breach lightly. Even if they believe that it was accidental.
+
Leonora: I haven't ... but I would be surprised if they did. Why?

Leonora: Honestly Nabari may not care.  He's spent his life killing demons and cultists ... and their allies.
+
Yadda: shrugs.

Thurston Allard: pales a bit
+
Yadda: Just pondering my plan of attack for next season.

Surely he would not be so unreasonable as to attack someone extrajudicially
+
Leonora: That's the attitude.  It is a military operation, and the stakes are potentially even greater.

Leonora: I believe the new six-inch scar on his abdomen has given him a refreshed view of extrajudicial action.
+
Yadda: Well, the best defense is a good offense, I suppose.

Leonora: How adept are you at crying for mercy upon demand, Mr. AllardGood? Or ... not so much?
+
Leonora: Speaking of which, it will behoove you to keep abreast of the latest fashions. Were you happy with your dressmaker this yearWe can find another.

Thurston Allard: If you will excuse me, you've given me much to think about and do, I do not think now is the time to continue entertaining a guest.
+
Yadda: They were serviceable, but I did have to go back a few times to have them let out in the shoulders. And the one I wore to the spa obviously did not survive well at all. Perhaps in the future I should make sure to have them made with room for a weapon of some sort and more room to move. Just in case.

Leonora: Of course.  Oh, I almost forgot.  There is a third question you should be asking.
+
Leonora: laughs.

Leonora: That is: having had a conversation with a woman who is publicly well-known to have a dragonmark that ensures  the secrecy of conversations from scrying.
+
Leonora: Well, your grandfather and uncle would approve of that, certainly.

Leonora: Why would she have such a sensitive conversation with you and not invoke her dragonmark? Which I assure you, I have not.
+
Leonora: Although there is some value in ... conformity, I suppose you would say ... it is also important to highlight your own values and personality.

Leonora: Just something to ponder, Mr. Allard.
+
Leonora: After all, a marriage entered into under false pretenses is hardly likely to survive.

Leonora: I do hope our conversation has not been overheard.
+
Yadda: That's the strange part. It seems like there is so much deception around all of this. All the pageantry and social fascades. It's like everyone has collectively decided to make it as difficult on each other as possible when the goal should be to get to know one another honestly.

Thurston Allard: frowns As much as I have enjoyed the chance to see an old... friend, I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with the manners you have picked up in your new home. Good day, Lady Wengal. The servants will see you out
+
Leonora: nods.

Leonora: Good luck, Thurston.
+
Leonora: Honesty is in short supply among the elite of Highmark, I'm afraid.

Leonora: heads out.
+
Leonora: That's unlikely to change.

Thurston Allard: rushes out, fuming
+
Yadda: Mmmm...

 +
Yadda: Well, I suppose I'll have to manage. Thank you and uncle Magga for helping me navigate this. I really do appreciate it.

===Nik and Lamont Go to Coifárë For Help After The Riot===
+
Leonora: Magga's been glad to have you here.  If only because it's made me so happy to be here for you as well.

Nik: holds onto Lamont in the carriage and tries to see how injured he is, once we are out of immediate danger
+
Yadda: smiles

Nik: Lamont? can you hear me? stay awake, okay? stay with me...
+
Yadda: gives her aunt another hug

Lamont: takes a gasping breath

Nik: is trying very hard not to panic, and puts his hands on Lamont's wounds to try and stop the bleeding.
+
===Lavinia and Katherina Go Wedding Shopping===

Lamont: winces but doesn't move away
+
Lavinia: will recruit Katherina for a shopping trip and borrow the carriage from their mother for the purpose.

Lamont: N....nik
+
Katherina: Are we shopping for your engagement party?  Announcements?  Portraits?  Looking for wedding ideas?  What's the goal? :D

Nik: please... I can't stop it by myself... gods, please let him be okay, that's all I ask....
+
Lavinia: Oh, all of them at once, I suppose! We don't have a lot of time honestly. I don't know what we were thinking asking for a midsummer wedding!

Nik: is startled when that actually seems to do something, his touch briefly filling with divine power and Lamont's injuries healing.
+
Lavinia: It sounded like a good idea at the time!

Nik: oh!
+
Katherina: Oh no, see, now we can make sure everything is nicely themed running up to your dress reveal ^-^

Nik: Lamont? are you okay?
+
Lavinia: Well, I need a dress first!

Lamont: relaxes slightly
+
Katherina: Yes, but that's what I mean!  If we find something I like then you can put little hints of what's to come in the other ensembles, like colors or lace or prints or what have you :D  What color dress do you want for your wedding? Have you discussed it with mother?

Lamont: oooh...
+
Lavinia: Well, white is traditional, but... it's so boooring. I think I want something more colorful. Mother has left the details to me for the most part. I think she's just happy to have me engaged again.

Lamont: tries to sit up, but winces, lyin back down in Nik's lap
+
Katherina: Well your groom is very red - so something that would look pretty with that?

Lamont: I'm alright
+
Katherina: Do you think it could be arranged for him to show some of his tattoos?  Hmmmm...

Nik: just stay still, I'm going to take you to Coifare, they can help you...
+
Katherina: Your guests need to be appropriately jealous ;)

Lamont: I'm an idiot - I'm so sorry
+
Lavinia: Ooooh... If I know Gueiris, he could probably be persuaded.

Nik: no, no, it's not your fault
+
Lavinia: He is quite daring

Nik: you couldn't have known something like that would happen
+
Katherina: Oh yes I was thinking more of mother.  And you, I'm so glad you would even consider it!  :D

Lamont: that's not true
+
Lavinia: Hmmm... I suppose I wouldn't have considered it a few months ago, would I?

Nik: shhwe're safe now, and it's going to be okay.
+
Katherina: No!  And I'm so happy!  This has done you so much good - you are thinking about what you want and what makes you happy instead of just accepting whatever mother and everyone else saysEven at the beginning of the season you were just resigned to everything, and now I hardly feel I need to worry about you at all :3

Lamont: nods
+
Lavinia: laughs.

Nik: will look out for where this place Coifare was going to be staying should be located, hoping the driver has some idea because he's really not that familiar with the city.
+
Katherina: Have you decided where you will live?  Wil you be staying in Highmark?

Josh: (I'm gonna say it's the same place as the party they took the boys to way back in the second session.)
+
Lavinia: Surely I haven't changed that much have I? I suppose nearly being eaten has a way of focusing ones attention.

Lamont: what did you do?  ?
+
Lavinia: We want to travel. Gueiris will be moving around with his position and I will go with him. At least for now. Eventually we will settle down somewhere, but we're not really sure yet. It's really quite freeing.

Nik: I don't really know... I just asked for help.
+
Lavinia: And don't worry about me, Kitty. I'm more worried about you being left alone with mother!

Lamont: nods
+
Katherina: laughs

Lamont: Thank you
+
Katherina: I think you should worry for mother being left alone with me ;)

Nik: did it help? 😮
+
Lavinia: I can do both.

Lamont: smiles up at Nik, still lying in his lap
+
Katherina: You've always been the well behaved one.

Lamont: it did
+
Lavinia: Well, I won't argue with that, although you have always been the more fun one 😉

Lamont: and you got me out of there... somehow
+
Lavinia: Have I ever told you how much I admire you Kitty? You've always had a bravery and a lightheartedness that I could never really match.

Nik: I just grabbed you and pulled you back into the carriage... I don't know how I had the strength, really.
+
Lavinia: But then, you've never killed a demon, so I suppose now we're even.

Lamont: My hero
+
Katherina: well, I never had a chance!  And to my credit, I also didn't kill an Aethrenari prince, which I think shows quite a bit of uncharacteristic restraint.  So perhaps we're falling into balance ^-^

Lamont: smiles, but closes his eyes again
+
Lavinia: laughs

Nik: is flustered but smiles back and strokes Lamont's hair to try to help him relax
+
Lavinia: I think they call that growing up.

Josh: A young half-elven woman with tousled curly hair, perhaps somewhat familiar to you, answers the door.
+
Katherina: Yuck!  Dull. ;)

Silima: Oh my gods! Are you all right?
+
Katherina: I have plans to remain a much more interesting person.

Nik: Um, somewhat? Is Coifare here?
+
Lavinia: Well, we'll see about that.

Lamont: (Am I with you or still in the carriage?)
+
Lavinia: 😉

Nik: (I'd bring you with me, assuming you can walk)
+
Lavinia: Oh! I believe that's Madam Bellweather's dress shop ahead.

Lamont: (okay)
+
Katherina: Is that where we are headed, then?

Lamont: is holding it together but does look a little concerningly bloody and pale and a but beat to shit in general
+
Lavinia: For a start. She's one of the few in this part of town who specializes in halfling dresses. We can at least look at some samples.

Silima: Yes, they're...sorry, come in, come in.
+
Lavinia: will signal to the coach driver to let them off and leadKatherina into the shop where they can browse the dresses.

Lamont: ...Apologies for the intrusion
+
Katherina: Of course!

Silima: Coifare!
+
===Leonora Corners Thurston===

Silima: Do you need to sit, or lay down or...?
+
Leonora: will have written ahead to plan her visit for a day when Thurston is likely to be alone (except for his staff of course)

Lamont: oh...
+
Thurston Allard: is often alone now that Lamont has moved out, he tends not to Entertain at home, so this is pretty easy

Coifárë: comes into the room wearing a robe, then immediately looks horrified.
+
Leonora: will arrive, dressed in a long green dress and her pearls, nothing to suggest that she is here on Business.

Coifárë: Lamont!
+
Leonora: Mr. Allard, it's a pleasure to see you once again.

Coifárë: rushes over to help him.
+
Thurston Allard: It is delightful to see you, Lady Wengal. To what do I owe the pleasure?

Lamont: I'm alright
+
Leonora: smiles.

Coifárë: What happened? Nik, are you okay?
+
Leonora: Well, I wanted to talk about Therma Alba.  If you have a few minutes.

Nik: I'm fine, Lamont is hurt... I think...?
+
Thurston Allard: Seems confused but not worried right now

Lamont: nods
+
Of course, yeah, It was a horrific attack, I'm very grateful that my nephew and my soon to be inlaws were not seriously harmed

Coifárë: Come on, sit down. Lamont, what happened to you?
+
Leonora: Oh, what wonderful news!  Your family and the Amathalis must be overjoyed!

Lamont: There's riots
+
Leonora: Lord Evenor is a fine young man. And his father is very sensible.  I had a long discussion with him in the aftermath of the attack.

Coifárë: Riots? Where? Over what?
+
Thurston Allard: Oh, were you a guest at the time as well? I was unaware you were acquainted with the Amathalises

Coifárë: gets Lamont sitting down and begins looking him over.
+
Leonora: Of course!  I grew up in Thantopolis, and much of my family is still there.  My family has long been friends with them, although young Nikession, I only met this year.

Coifárë: Did you already get some healing?
+
Leonora: And yes, my husband and I were guests at the time of the attack.  We saw much, and learned much.

Lamont: Some...
+
Thurston Allard: Do you mean to imply you have an idea of how that attack came to be? I would be delighted to hear anything you are at liberty to share.

Lamont: looks at Nik
+
Leonora: Hmm.

Lamont: touches his shirt where there is a lot of blood but not currently an open wound
+
Leonora: Do you know Fyan Sir Akan Sinan Nabari?

Nik: I... I'm not sure what happened. I didn't know what else to do so I put my hands where he was bleeding, thinking maybe I could stop it if I applied pressure, but ... I asked for help from the gods, and maybe it worked?
+
Thurston Allard: Passingly? We have met but not much more than that. I had heard that he was there at the time of the incident.

Nik: is still shaken up
+
Leonora: Yes.  In the aftermath of the event, he has come to believe that he was a target of the cultists.  One of several, it seems.

Coifárë: Nik...either your dragonmark is showing new abilities, or someone answered your prayers.
+
Leonora: But needless to say, Nabari is not a man to be trifled with. He is older, but that has simply given him more fire in his heart to root out the perpetrators and anyone who would interfere with them.

Coifárë: I'll just finish the job.
+
Thurston Allard: I imagine so. I've heard he's a fierce combatant. I would never want to make an enemy of Fyan Nabari, personally. I almost pity anyone who did.

Nik: please
+
Leonora: Hmm, yes.

Lamont: (actually I'm gonna say he lost his coat at some point during all this, heh)
+
Leonora: You see, there's just one thing that is bothering him more than anything else.

Coifárë: will place their hands on Lamont and there is a soothing release as the wounds knit back together and heal.
+
Leonora: Amidst the belongings of one of the cultists was found a letter, an encrypted letter in fact, describing the targets of the attack.  As he puts it, it was in a cipher that is one of ours.  That is, an old Sentinel house cipher.

Lamont: takes a deep and easy breath
+
Thurston Allard: Thurston's eyes go wide in horror

Lamont: Thank you.
+
Have you seen it? I'm afraid.. well, I may have spoken more than I should have in a letter. Is that why your here?

Coifárë: Of course.
+
Leonora: What do you mean?

Coifárë: will touch their forehead to Lamont's for a moment.
+
Leonora: Are you saying you wrote a letter?

Lamont: smiles at that
+
Thurston Allard: nods, clearly ashamed and embarrassed

Coifárë: Well, that was a dramatic way to begin my day.
+
I did, yes. I had thought that I could trust its recipient, but even so it might have gotten lost or stolen.

Lamont: Apologies, truly
+
Leonora: Who was the recipient?

Coifárë: (to Nik) I take it he was trying to be heroic?
+
Thurston Allard: An old friend in Thanatopolis. (insert random NPC name here). We went to school together, and I had intended to be bragging on the company my nephew was keeping.

Lamont: says to them and to our host
+
Leonora: Well I'm sure that Nabari has already talked to them.  I know he was talking to everyone.

Lamont: (WAS THAT IN eLDUAR? :v)
+
Leonora: Having fought beside him at Therma Alba, I assure you that he's ferocious.

Lamont: (cl but lol)
+
Leonora: When he comes to talk to you, you'll want to be able to answer two things for him.  First, why the letter was written in an old Sentinel cipher, or any cipher at all.    If it was just a letter boasting about your nephew.

Silima: Luckily, I can say this is a first, but I'm glad you're all right.
+
Leonora: But then, you were always a bit odd.  Maybe it was just an overabundance of caution.

Josh: (Nope, that was in common 😉 )
+
Leonora: Or maybe you always write your letters to your friend in cipher, a vestige of your childhood friendship when you would write little nonsenses to one another.  I'm sure he'll have confirmed that for you.

Nik: I'm not really sure exactly what happened... it seemed very sudden to me.
+
Thurston Allard: Well, you know me.

Nik: I didn't even make it out of the carriage, perhaps Lamont had a better view of the scene?
+
Thurston smiles and shrugs

Lamont: tries to make himself look a little mor presentable, but this is somewhat of a challenge
+
I have always been an overly cautious man. Were I not... things might have been quite different.

Coifárë: What was going on?
+
Leonora: Of course.

Silima: Was it...near here?
+
Leonora: The other thing you'll want to be able to answer is why a man you barely know except 'passingly', and who apparently you only heard - somehow - was there at the incident, featured notably in your letter about your nephew, who doesn't even know Nabari. Because I assure you that Nabari is going to ask.

Lamont: looks to Nik
+
Chitara: hta frowns

Silima: says in a worried voice.
+
I hope you don't seriously think I had anything to do with this.

Nik: near the city museum...
+
Leonora: I think your letter gave the cultists information about a number of high-value targets who would be present at a major social event.

Lamont: Ostensibly, it was a rally for inclusions of the Akasic states, but there were agitators in the crowd who pushed them towards violence.
+
Leonora: I think that fact is going to be revealed, publicly, very soon.

Coifárë: frowns.
+
Leonora: I also think that the fact that your dear nephew is engaged to marry the son of the hosts of Therma Alba, themselves of unimpeachable conduct, is going to look very, very odd to many people.

Coifárë: That's not good...
+
Leonora: So you should start thinking of your story, very fast.

Coifárë: Above and beyond all this, of course.
+
Thurston Allard: raises an eyebrow

Coifárë: You truly have to stop getting into these sorts of situations, at least within friendly cities, at least.
+
Why should my nephew's match raise eyebrows? They are a reasonable match.

Lamont: glances at Silima
+
Leonora: Because the attack caused irreparable damage to his parents' estate, which will one day be his.

Lamont: I agree
+
Leonora: Perhaps you were trying to put an end to the union before it began?  I don't know what society will say, but I assure you it won't be "oh, that poor Mr. Allard, he has had such coincidental misfortune in his vicinity."

Lamont: I would rather like it to stop.
+
Thurston Allard: Am I to understand an official investigation is underway? Or do I have time to salvage my reputation beforehand?

Lamont: rubs his temples
+
Leonora: There is an investigation underway, yes.  Across the intelligence authorities of Thantopolis, Nachtur, Highmark, and possibly others.

Silima: gives Lamont an unsure smile.
+
Leonora: As you know, the Sentinels are not going to take such a breach lightly. Even if they believe that it was accidental.

Silima: Can I get you some water or anything?
+
Leonora: Honestly Nabari may not care. He's spent his life killing demons and cultists ... and their allies.

Lamont: Thank you, I would be very grateful
+
Thurston Allard: pales a bit

Silima: will go do that.
+
Surely he would not be so unreasonable as to attack someone extrajudicially

Coifárë: Thank the gods I was here.
+
Leonora: I believe the new six-inch scar on his abdomen has given him a refreshed view of extrajudicial action.

Coifárë: I mean, Nik stabilized things, but still.
+
Leonora: How adept are you at crying for mercy upon demand, Mr. Allard?  Good? Or ... not so much?

Coifárë: goes to hug Nik comfortingly.
+
Thurston Allard: If you will excuse me, you've given me much to think about and do, I do not think now is the time to continue entertaining a guest.

Lamont: I should have known
+
Leonora: Of course.  Oh, I almost forgot.  There is a third question you should be asking.

Coifárë: Known what?
+
Leonora: That is: having had a conversation with a woman who is publicly well-known to have a dragonmark that ensures  the secrecy of conversations from scrying.

Lamont: I've had a headache since the... engagement dinner and it' only beet getting worse,
+
Leonora: Why would she have such a sensitive conversation with you and not invoke her dragonmark? Which I assure you, I have not.

Lamont: Ughhh, I sound like... a mad person
+
Leonora: Just something to ponder, Mr. Allard.

Nik: you think he had something to do with this?
+
Leonora: I do hope our conversation has not been overheard.

Nik: asks, being a bit cautious with his word choice since he doesn't know Silima well
+
Thurston Allard: frowns As much as I have enjoyed the chance to see an old... friend, I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with the manners you have picked up in your new home. Good day, Lady Wengal. The servants will see you out

Coifárë: My first instinct is to say this seems a bit much, but, considering the attack at Therma Alba...
+
Leonora: Good luck, Thurston.

Lamont: (Did we tell coifare about that?  I suppose we coudl have done it off screen either way :x)
+
Leonora: heads out.

Josh: (Yeah, we can assume so.)
+
Thurston Allard: rushes out, fuming

Lamont: I think so?  for it ti happen then, there, with people place to cause serious escalation....

Lamont: I've been in anything like that before, though...  most of the crowd didn't know what they meant to do until they were in the midst of it.
+
===Nik and Lamont Go to Coifárë For Help After The Riot===

Coifárë: frowns.
+
Nik: holds onto Lamont in the carriage and tries to see how injured he is, once we are out of immediate danger

Silima: You're welcome to wait here for the time being, if you like.
+
Nik: Lamont? can you hear me? stay awake, okay? stay with me...

Silima: says, coming back with water for Lamont.
+
Lamont: takes a gasping breath

Lamont: oh, thank you.
+
Nik: is trying very hard not to panic, and puts his hands on Lamont's wounds to try and stop the bleeding.

Lamont: will take that and drink immediately
+
Lamont: winces but doesn't move away

Silima: I can give you all some privacy if you need it...
+
Lamont: N....nik

Nik: yes, thank you - sorry to put you to this trouble
+
Nik: please... I can't stop it by myself... gods, please let him be okay, that's all I ask....

Coifárë: steps over to kiss Silima on the cheek.
+
Nik: is startled when that actually seems to do something, his touch briefly filling with divine power and Lamont's injuries healing.

Coifárë: (elduar) You're a sweetheart.
+
Nik: oh!

Silima: smiles, gives Lamont a worried look, and begins walking into the next room.
+
Nik: Lamont? are you okay?

Silima: I should get dressed for real anyway.
+
Lamont: relaxes slightly

Coifárë: What do you want to do?
+
Lamont: oooh...

Lamont: I'm not suree.  I expect I should... report something... somewhere...
+
Lamont: tries to sit up, but winces, lyin back down in Nik's lap

Coifárë: Your cousin, maybe? Marchioness Lownmont?
+
Lamont: I'm alright

Lamont: nods
+
Nik: just stay still, I'm going to take you to Coifare, they can help you...

Lamont: yes, that woudl make sense
+
Lamont: I'm an idiot - I'm so sorry

Lamont: I'm sure there's been a response mounted already
+
Nik: no, no, it's not your fault

Coifárë: I would imagine. So your responsibility is to take your suspicions to Lownmont, right?
+
Nik: you couldn't have known something like that would happen

Nik: do you want me to go with you?
+
Lamont: that's not true

Lamont: looks down at his bloody cloothing
+
Nik: shh. we're safe now, and it's going to be okay.

Lamont: Yes.  A witness will be useful....
+
Lamont: nods

Nik: nods
+
Nik: will look out for where this place Coifare was going to be staying should be located, hoping the driver has some idea because he's really not that familiar with the city.

Coifárë: Would it look untoward if I went with you both?
+
Josh: (I'm gonna say it's the same place as the party they took the boys to way back in the second session.)

Lamont: well. Surely you're just another kind of witness, since you healed me...
+
Lamont: what did you do? ?

Coifárë: nods.
+
Nik: I don't really know... I just asked for help.

Coifárë: I'd just prefer to help make sure you get wherever you're going all right.
+
Lamont: nods

Lamont: I'd be grateful for your company, if you don't mind leaving your companion...
+
Lamont: Thank you

Coifárë: steps forward and places a kiss on top of Lamont's head.
+
Nik: did it help? 😮

Coifárë: Admittedly not how I meant to be spending my day, but this is my top priority.
+
Lamont: smiles up at Nik, still lying in his lap

Lamont: smiles
+
Lamont: it did

Coifárë: straightens up and crosses to Nik to squeeze his hand.
+
Lamont: and you got me out of there... somehow

Coifárë: I should also get dressed.
+
Nik: I just grabbed you and pulled you back into the carriage... I don't know how I had the strength, really.

Lamont: nods
+
Lamont: My hero

Nik: we can wait in the carriage for you if you want some privacy
+
Lamont: smiles, but closes his eyes again

Lamont: yes....  I'd liek to sit without... ruining someone else's furniture -_-
+
Nik: is flustered but smiles back and strokes Lamont's hair to try to help him relax

Coifárë: Oh, right. Stand up real quick.
+
Josh: A young half-elven woman with tousled curly hair, perhaps somewhat familiar to you, answers the door.

Coifárë: There's no reason not to clean you up, right?
+
Silima: Oh my gods! Are you all right?

Lamont: I don't think so
+
Nik: Um, somewhat? Is Coifare here?

Lamont: There's plenty of blood still in the carriage if anyone insists on seeing it -_-
+
Lamont: (Am I with you or still in the carriage?)

Coifárë: nods, then waves their hand and utters a spell in elduar. The blood disappears from Lamont's clothes.
+
Nik: (I'd bring you with me, assuming you can walk)

Lamont: Thank you
+
Lamont: (okay)

Lamont: again
+
Lamont: is holding it together but does look a little concerningly bloody and pale and a but beat to shit in general

Lamont: smiles
+
Silima: Yes, they're...sorry, come in, come in.

Nik: yes, thank you
+
Lamont: ...Apologies for the intrusion

Coifárë: I'm sorry for the necessity, but always happy to help. I'm glad you're both safe; let's keep it that way, shall we?
+
Silima: Coifare!

Coifárë: (to Nik, in Elduar, with a concerned look) Are you all right?
+
Silima: Do you need to sit, or lay down or...?

Nik: (in elduar) Yes, just shaken.  I'll be all right, I just wish such things would stop happening...
+
Lamont: oh...

Coifárë: (elduar) Gods-willing, it will soon.
+
Coifárë: comes into the room wearing a robe, then immediately looks horrified.

Lamont: waits for them to have their lil private side convo -_-
+
Coifárë: Lamont!

Coifárë: kisses Nik on the cheek and hugs him again, then goes to get dressed.
+
Coifárë: rushes over to help him.

Lamont: will sit and hold Nik's hand while we wait
+
Lamont: I'm alright

Nik: we weren't talking about you or anything... Coifare just wanted to know if I was okay.
+
Coifárë: What happened? Nik, are you okay?

Nik: says quietly
+
Nik: I'm fine, Lamont is hurt... I think...?

Lamont: I know.
+
Lamont: nods

Nik: squeezes your hand
+
Coifárë: Come on, sit down. Lamont, what happened to you?

Lamont: They want to make sure you feel cared for
+
Lamont: There's riots

Nik: nods
+
Coifárë: Riots? Where? Over what?

Lamont: I don't really mind.
+
Coifárë: gets Lamont sitting down and begins looking him over.

Nik: I just don't want you to feel left out.  I could teach you to speak it if you wanted...  but I know there's so many other things going on right now.
+
Coifárë: Did you already get some healing?

Lamont: smiles
+
Lamont: Some...

Lamont: We'll have time
+
Lamont: looks at Nik

Lamont: We will.
+
Lamont: touches his shirt where there is a lot of blood but not currently an open wound

Lamont: squeezes his hand back
+
Nik: I... I'm not sure what happened.  I didn't know what else to do so I put my hands where he was bleeding, thinking maybe I could stop it if I applied pressure, but ... I asked for help from the gods, and maybe it worked?

Nik: smiles a little bleakly
+
Nik: is still shaken up

Nik: (presumably then once Coifare is ready we can go see Zanne?)
+
Coifárë: Nik...either your dragonmark is showing new abilities, or someone answered your prayers.

Josh: (nod)
+
Coifárë: I'll just finish the job.

 +
Nik: please

===Rosalie and Juno Visit the Museum===
+
Lamont: (actually I'm gonna say he lost his coat at some point during all this, heh)

Juno Morticia Auspex: will arrive at the museum early to wait for everyone.
+
Coifárë: will place their hands on Lamont and there is a soothing release as the wounds knit back together and heal.

Rosalie: will arrive shortly before Lamont is scheduled to arrive and wait with Juno
+
Lamont: takes a deep and easy breath

Rosalie: checks the time
+
Lamont: Thank you.

The marquess must be running late.
+
Coifárë: Of course.

Juno Morticia Auspex: That's unlike him, isn't it?
+
Coifárë: will touch their forehead to Lamont's for a moment.

Rosalie: nods
+
Lamont: smiles at that

I would think so. He must have been delayed by something.
+
Coifárë: Well, that was a dramatic way to begin my day.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, present company is just fine with me.
+
Lamont: Apologies, truly

Josh: (Was there a specific like exhibit or anything we were all coming to see?)
+
Coifárë: (to Nik) I take it he was trying to be heroic?

Rosalie: (Just some new exhibit, I can't remember what it was originally.)
+
Lamont: says to them and to our host

Lamont: (I don't think we specified, heh)
+
Lamont: (WAS THAT IN eLDUAR? :v)

Juno Morticia Auspex: Truth be told, I don't know the first thing about...any of this. Art was not much a part of my upbringing.
+
Lamont: (cl but lol)

Rosalie: Oh, I am not so learned in art, either. I am mostly here for the historical bits and bobs they have on display.
+
Silima: Luckily, I can say this is a first, but I'm glad you're all right.

Rosalie: But the great thing about art is that you don't need extensive education to admire it. says brightly, then blushes a little and loops her arm through Juno's
+
Josh: (Nope, that was in common 😉 )

Shall we?
+
Nik: I'm not really sure exactly what happened... it seemed very sudden to me.

Juno Morticia Auspex: smiles.
+
Nik: I didn't even make it out of the carriage, perhaps Lamont had a better view of the scene?

Juno Morticia Auspex: Absolutely.
+
Lamont: tries to make himself look a little mor presentable, but this is somewhat of a challenge

Juno Morticia Auspex: is happy to stroll along with Rosalie and admire the exhibits.
+
Coifárë: What was going on?

Rosalie: Stillmarch said the private tour should begin not too long from now, we just have to meet the curator. I wonder if we'll still be able to see the collection without him here.
+
Silima: Was it...near here?

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, even without Stillmarch here, you're still a Doumens. I'm sure plenty of this came from your family as well. 😉
+
Lamont: looks to Nik

Rosalie: Oh, well, yes, some. When Father passed away, I was appointed executor, which was really quite the to-do since I wasn't of an age yet. Anyway, we had quite an extensive art collection just sitting in a gallery in the house, so I donated the lot.
+
Silima: says in a worried voice.

Rosalie: Seb and I used the gallery for fencing practice after that. grins
+
Nik: near the city museum...

Juno Morticia Auspex: laughs.
+
Lamont: Ostensibly, it was a rally for inclusions of the Akasic states, but there were agitators in the crowd who pushed them towards violence.

Juno Morticia Auspex: That's more like my upbringing. The Auspexes are a military family, through and through.
+
Coifárë: frowns.

Rosalie: laughs
+
Coifárë: That's not good...

Well, I wouldn't say we are military, really. We dabble in many things. Were expectations high for you to join as well?
+
Coifárë: Above and beyond all this, of course.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Expectation might be underselling it. It was assumed I'd serve, particularly after it became apparent I had a talent for necromancy.
+
Coifárë: You truly have to stop getting into these sorts of situations, at least within friendly cities, at least.

Rosalie: Did you...ever want to be anything else?
+
Lamont: glances at Silima

Juno Morticia Auspex: Would you think me unimaginative if I said no?
+
Lamont: I agree

Rosalie: No, not at all. I would envy you, maybe.
+
Lamont: I would rather like it to stop.

Rosalie: To know your path and walk it so assuredly is a wonderful thing. I sometimes wish I had the same confidence in my path.
+
Lamont: rubs his temples

Juno Morticia Auspex: Your path isn't set. You can do anything you set your mind to.
+
Silima: gives Lamont an unsure smile.

Rosalie: This is true. Perhaps I just wish for opportunities that appealed to me more.
+
Silima: Can I get you some water or anything?

Rosalie: In any case, the collection we donated should be in the East wing.
+
Lamont: Thank you, I would be very grateful

Rosalie: There are some silly things there. Apparently, a relative of mine must have loved boats, they devoted a lot of energy into buying as many pieces with boats in them as possible.
+
Silima: will go do that.

Josh: Rosalie, you have to do a double-take, but you see your mother at the end of the gallery, talking to a shadar-kai man.
+
Coifárë: Thank the gods I was here.

Rosalie: Even some pottery with little naval scenes....trails off, staring into the distance
+
Coifárë: I mean, Nik stabilized things, but still.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Are you all right?
+
Coifárë: goes to hug Nik comfortingly.

Juno Morticia Auspex: gives Rose a concerned look.
+
Lamont: I should have known

Rosalie: Uh, yes. My mother is here.
+
Coifárë: Known what?

Juno Morticia Auspex: Oh! Were you...expecting her?
+
Lamont: I've had a headache since the... engagement dinner and it' only beet getting worse,

Rosalie: looks a little flustered and begins straightening her appearance
+
Lamont: Ughhh, I sound like... a mad person

Rosalie: I wasn't.  We have not seen each other for some time.
+
Nik: you think he had something to do with this?

Juno Morticia Auspex: Should we go say hello? Or I can wait if you want to speak to her yourself?
+
Nik: asks, being a bit cautious with his word choice since he doesn't know Silima well

Rosalie: Oh, yes. I mean, no. I mean, yes, let's go say hello. Together, that is.
+
Coifárë: My first instinct is to say this seems a bit much, but, considering the attack at Therma Alba...

Juno Morticia Auspex: squeezes Rosalie's hand reassuringly.
+
Lamont: (Did we tell coifare about that?  I suppose we coudl have done it off screen either way :x)

Rosalie: gives a small, stressed smile and leads the way to her mother
+
Josh: (Yeah, we can assume so.)

Rosalie: (Name of the shadar-kai?)
+
Lamont: I think so?   for it ti happen then, there, with people place to cause serious escalation....

Josh: (Emlyn Rhydderch)
+
Lamont: I've been in anything like that before, though...  most of the crowd didn't know what they meant to do until they were in the midst of it.

Rosalie: reaches her mother and the man
+
Coifárë: frowns.

Mother, hello. I did not know you were in town.
+
Silima: You're welcome to wait here for the time being, if you like.

Inga Doumens: Rosie, dear, I didn't expect to see you here. I was going to come by the house later today.
+
Silima: says, coming back with water for Lamont.

Rosalie: Oh, well, what providence then! Mother, may I introduce you to my...to Magus Juno Auspex. Juno, this is my mother, LadyInga Doumens.
+
Lamont: oh, thank you.

Juno Morticia Auspex: It's an honor and a pleasure to meet you, Lady Doumens.
+
Lamont: will take that and drink immediately

Inga Doumens: Yes, wonderful to meet any friend of my daughter's, magus. I would introduce you to my friend, but he was just taking his leave, and he doesn't speak Nerathi.
+
Silima: I can give you all some privacy if you need it...

Inga Doumens: says something to her companion, who nods and makes an apologetic face, then turns to go.
+
Nik: yes, thank you - sorry to put you to this trouble

Rosalie: I did not know you were coming to town soon. Was it an unexpected trip?
+
Coifárë: steps over to kiss Silima on the cheek.

Inga Doumens: Well, you know me, dear, I don't tend to plan very far ahead.
+
Coifárë: (elduar) You're a sweetheart.

Inga Doumens: (to Juno) Luckily, she doesn't take after me.
+
Silima: smiles, gives Lamont a worried look, and begins walking into the next room.

Rosalie: nods
+
Silima: I should get dressed for real anyway.

I am unlike you and Father in this particular way. But I am glad to see you, nonetheless.
+
Coifárë: What do you want to do?

Rosalie: Sébastien will be glad, as well. And you must meet his new fiancé while you are in town.
+
Lamont: I'm not suree.  I expect I should... report something... somewhere...

Inga Doumens: Apparently I'm behind on my correspondence. A fiancé, you say? I'm delighted. And yourself?
+
Coifárë: Your cousin, maybe? Marchioness Lownmont?

Inga Doumens: gives Juno a glance, which is answered with a blush.
+
Lamont: nods

Rosalie: gives a quick glance to Juno, as well, and blushes
+
Lamont: yes, that woudl make sense

Oh, well, no, I am not engaged, yet. Sébastien only just proposed on Founder's Day.
+
Lamont: I'm sure there's been a response mounted already

Inga Doumens: Oh, so I haven't missed too much of it, and I can still play the overbearing mother-in-law-to-be.
+
Coifárë: I would imagine. So your responsibility is to take your suspicions to Lownmont, right?

Rosalie: laughs lightly
+
Nik: do you want me to go with you?

You may certainly give it a shot, but I think you'll find his fiancé up to the task.
+
Lamont: looks down at his bloody cloothing

Inga Doumens: Challenges can be fun.
+
Lamont: Yes.  A witness will be useful....

Inga Doumens: Speaking of fun, I should leave you to yours, but I'll see you this evening?
+
Nik: nods

Rosalie: nods
+
Coifárë: Would it look untoward if I went with you both?

Of course. I shall make sure Sébastien stays home from his club, as well.
+
Lamont: well. Surely you're just another kind of witness, since you healed me...

Inga Doumens: Excellent, there's my good girl. I'll leave you two to your...stroll.
+
Coifárë: nods.

Inga Doumens: gives Rosie a kiss on the cheek, and an encouraging smile to Juno.
+
Coifárë: I'd just prefer to help make sure you get wherever you're going all right.

Rosalie: will wait until her mother has left, then let out a sigh
+
Lamont: I'd be grateful for your company, if you don't mind leaving your companion...

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, she seems...fun?
+
Coifárë: steps forward and places a kiss on top of Lamont's head.

Rosalie: lets out a startled laugh
+
Coifárë: Admittedly not how I meant to be spending my day, but this is my top priority.

Rosalie: Yes, you might say. I think sometimes I am the apple that rolled very far from my family tree.
+
Lamont: smiles

Juno Morticia Auspex: gives a bemused smile.
+
Coifárë: straightens up and crosses to Nik to squeeze his hand.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, I think you're fun. 😉
+
Coifárë: I should also get dressed.

Rosalie: grins
+
Lamont: nods

For you, I can be very fun.
+
Nik: we can wait in the carriage for you if you want some privacy

Juno Morticia Auspex: Then I say we make the most of our visit, hmm? Fortify you for dealing with your mother later?
+
Lamont: yes....  I'd liek to sit without... ruining someone else's furniture -_-

Rosalie: sighs again and leans slightly into Juno's side
+
Coifárë: Oh, right. Stand up real quick.

I do believe you are a miracle.
+
Coifárë: There's no reason not to clean you up, right?

Rosalie: Let's go see how many boats we can find.
+
Lamont: I don't think so

Juno Morticia Auspex: Aye, captain.
+
Lamont: There's plenty of blood still in the carriage if anyone insists on seeing it -_-

 +
Coifárë: nods, then waves their hand and utters a spell in elduar. The blood disappears from Lamont's clothes.

===Chitara Apologizes To Lamont===
+
Lamont: Thank you

Chitara: Chitara has been kept fairly busy dealing with the fallout of people being attacked in the name of their cause, but a couple days after, Chitara calls at his new place
+
Lamont: again

Lamont: will come down and meet her in the parlor
+
Lamont: smiles

Lamont: miss Kitus, good afternoon
+
Nik: yes, thank you

Lamont: Would you care for some tea or coffee?
+
Coifárë: I'm sorry for the necessity, but always happy to help. I'm glad you're both safe; let's keep it that way, shall we?

Chitara: smiles in obvious relief that he's up and about
+
Coifárë: (to Nik, in Elduar, with a concerned look) Are you all right?

I would love some tea, thank you. I'm so glad to see you're well.
+
Nik: (in elduar) Yes, just shaken. I'll be all right, I just wish such things would stop happening...

Lamont: Oh, I'm quite well, thank you
+
Coifárë: (elduar) Gods-willing, it will soon.

Lamont: says, sounding slightly puzzeled
+
Lamont: waits for them to have their lil private side convo -_-

Lamont: ...oh, have you been talking to Nik?
+
Coifárë: kisses Nik on the cheek and hugs him again, then goes to get dressed.

Chitara: smiles wryly
+
Lamont: will sit and hold Nik's hand while we wait

Well, yes, but I likely would've heard anyway unless it was a complete secret. We've been doing damage control
+
Nik: we weren't talking about you or anything... Coifare just wanted to know if I was okay.

Lamont: I didn't realize the news had travelled very far, but in any case, I am fine, and I don't hold your cause accountable in any case.
+
Nik: says quietly

Chitara: I am glad to hear it but I do still feel somewhat responsible.
+
Lamont: I know.

Lamont: Please, you're really not.
+
Nik: squeezes your hand

Lamont: (A servant will come in with a tray of tea and some little nibbles an serve)
+
Lamont: They want to make sure you feel cared for

Lamont: The matter is under investigation, I'm sure anything relevant will be relayed to you.
+
Nik: nods

Lamont: was it a planned rally?
+
Lamont: I don't really mind.

Chitara: It was not. We had no word anyone was going to be doing anything that morning until there were injuries.
+
Nik: I just don't want you to feel left out. I could teach you to speak it if you wanted...  but I know there's so many other things going on right now.

makes a face
+
Lamont: smiles

Its honestly pretty bizarre
+
Lamont: We'll have time

Lamont: nods
+
Lamont: We will.

Chitara: At least it seems everyone injured has been seen to and no lasting harm was done
+
Lamont: squeezes his hand back

Lamont: yes, the response was pretty quick, I understand..
+
Nik: smiles a little bleakly

Lamont: I'm lucky Nik got me out of there quickly
+
Nik: (presumably then once Coifare is ready we can go see Zanne?)

Lamont: says with a fond smile
+
Josh: (nod)

Chitara: Yeah, that was some seriously quick thinking on his part. Honestly, I'm impressed.
+
===Gueiris Checks In on Lavinia After The Riot===

Lamont: I regret that he's been exposed to so many crises while in my presence, but I have been grateful to have him nonetheless
+
Gueiris: comes riding up the Orsino residence in the early evening.  He is wearing a dark jacket with definite some dirt and debris on it, and a sash with Highmark heraldry which he removes as dismounts.

Lamont: Did he tell you our news?
+
Lavinia: will run down to the front door and open it for him as he comes up to the porch.

Chitara: He did! I'm happy for you both. He's a wonderful guy, he deserves someone who'll make him as happy as you do
+
Lavinia: Gueiris! We saw some of the rioters go by earlier and we've been watching the street! I'm so glad to see you!

Lamont: Thank you.  He is wonderful, more than I deserve, but I will do my best for him.
+
Lavinia: is in a white house dress and clutches a frying pan in her hand.

Chitara: shrugs and finally picks up her cup of tea
+
Gueiris: is trying to wipe clean his jacket

You'll have to forgive me for trusting his judgement over yours on the matter
+
Gueiris: I so happy you weren't caught up in that.  Nothing came this way?

Lamont: No, I think that's entirely fair.
+
Lavinia: Just a few groups chanting slogans with torches. They seemed to be on their way to Skyline.

Chitara: smiles
+
Lavinia: They didn't seem interested in us.

He's a good judge of character
+
Lavinia: will throw her arms around gueiris' waist.

Lamont: Well, as I said, I will try to live up to his assessment.
+
Gueiris: They are dispersed now, so the frying pan is not required.

 +
Gueiris: hugs her back

===Nik Talks To Callisto About His Future Career===
+
Lavinia: Oh! Yes, of course...

Nik: can go and pay a visit to Callisto (who has probably been sending him periodic reminders to talk to her ;)
+
Lavinia: will put the frying pan down on a table inside the door when she lets go of Gueiris.

Callisto Vallee: : She has a cluttered desk , trying to find something but making more of a mess :
+
Lavinia: Please, come in. Can I get you anything?

Nik: I hope this is a good time?
+
Gueiris: Thank you.  Something to drink would be greatly appreciated.  With a little kick, if possible.  The last few hours have been unenjoyable.

Callisto Vallee: She lets out a squeak at the sudden interruption, sending most of the papers to the floor.
+
Lavinia: Of course.

Callisto Vallee: "I...yes...I've been trying to get some one-on-one with you. Come in, come in."
+
Lavinia: will ask one of the servants to bring some dwarven rum for him.

Nik: comes in
+
Lavinia: So you were there?

Nik: I'm sorry, I've just been so busy lately.
+
Gueiris: I was called in after things started to help get the situation under control.  Some people got hurt bad by the rioters, although I hadn't heard much of the specifics.

Callisto Vallee: "Does that mean you have a new book or books to submit to me?"
+
Gueiris: It mostly just took a show of force to get the crowd to disperse.

Nik: Oh, not a new book yet, no.... I might have a few new ideas, but it will be a little while before I have the leisure to put them to paper.  But I wanted to reassure you that I'm definitely thinking about it!
+
Lavinia: Are you ok? You're not injured, are you?

Callisto Vallee: "What...what else has kept you so busy?"
+
Gueiris: sips the rum appreciatively

Nik: Oh, the season, you know, social events... also, well... I have become engaged to Lord Stillmarch :3
+
Gueiris: I am fine, if not a little more disheveled than I would prefer to be in front of you. The rioters should appreciate the fact that they did not injure someone like myself.

Callisto Vallee: "You're...you're getting married?! When?"
+
Gueiris: And I am truly happy that you nor your family suffered anything more than worry.

Callisto Vallee: "Will this effect your literary work?"
+
Lavinia: Thank you for coming to check on us. Thankfully nothing seems to have spread this far east.

Nik: In the fall, I think? The date is still a little uncertain.
+
Lavinia: I assure you, if they had tried to get in here they would have been in for a challenge. Between my frying pan and mother's yelling.

Nik: And, well, I don't know!  I'll certainly do my best, but there may be extenuating circumstances that need my attention.
+
Gueiris: chuckles

Callisto Vallee: "True, true. I just don't want you to give it up completely. Some of our writers only write because they need the money. I know that's not your situation. But if this marriage is giving you the support you need, let me know now if we need to find someone else to take up the pen name."
+
Gueiris: or you could subdue them with pastries

Nik: Oh, no, certainly I wouldn't think that is necessary 😮
+
Lavinia: Well, I like to think I would save that contingency for emergencies only.

Nik: I feel like people might be able to tell?
+
Lavinia: smiles.

Callisto Vallee: She releases a sigh of relief and leans back in her chair. "That's good to hear."
+
Lavinia: I am glad that you are ok as well. I had worried that you might be sent to deal with it.

Callisto Vallee: At Nik's remark she snort/snickers. "You'd be surprised."
+
Gueiris: I still have my families obligations to support Highmark guard in times of need. That will remain whenever I am in the city.

Nik: I would?
+
Lavinia: I suppose I shall have to get used to worrying. Fortunately, I have lots of practice.

Callisto Vallee: She scratches the side of her nose. "That'd be telling."
+
Gueiris: I would not ask you to not worry, for I would worry if our roles were reversed. Just trust in my abilities, and my desire to always come back to you, to see me safely through.

Nik: Oh... I see.
+
Lavinia: I do.

Nik: well, I did just want to let you know that I haven't forgotten you.  But that it will still be a little while longer before I have a book to show you.
+
Lavinia: takes Gueiris' hand.

Callisto Vallee: "Are at least a couple of chapters you can let me read? If for nothing else than to give the appearance you still take this seriously."
+
Lavinia: I have seen your abilities and your desires. I know how formidable they both are.

Nik: ...
+
Gueiris: Well... I'm...

Nik: I wrote my first book for fun, I didn't think I was obliged to take it very seriously.  I already said I don't have anything to give you right now, but if you aren't willing to wait, perhaps this isn't the right direction for me to go in.
+
Gueiris: flusters

Callisto Vallee: Callisto stays quiet a moment then slowly nods. "I apologize. I shouldn't be pushing you like this. You'd think after all this time I'd have more patience with writers. But publication world can be cut throat sometimes, and it feels like I'm going under any moment."
+
Gueiris: I do love you.

Callisto Vallee: "But that doesn't excuse me from pressuring you so much."
+
Lavinia: I... I love you too.

Nik: Well, I'm sorry about that.  I do want to write another book, but I need a few free moments to do that in.  I hope maybe soon I'll have that, though.
+
Lavinia: seems equally flustered now.

Callisto Vallee: "Just keep me in the loop, Nik."
+
Gueiris: Did you want some rum?

Nik: I'll try to!
+
Lavinia: clears her hroat and nods.

 +
Lavinia: Yes. Please.

===Zanne Informs Lamont of His Uncle's Arrest===
+
Gueiris: gets her a small snifter

Zanne Machel: will have sent a carriage for Lamont to summon him to the Machel estate on the Crown.
+
Lavinia: Kitty and I went shopping for wedding things today. I still can't believe it's actually happening.

Lamont: will go when summoned
+
Gueiris: That's great!  I'm sure you will look outstanding in what you chose.  It has frills and poofs out like this right?

Lamont: will dress appropriately, etc
+
Gueiris: makes a gesture that has his arms wider than Lavinia is tall

Josh: Servants will be waiting for Lamont, and will escort him to an office in the central area of the house. It's small, quite full of books and papers, all of it neatly organized.
+
Lavinia: As if I would be caught dead in anything without frills and poofs!

Zanne Machel: will be waiting, standing when Lamont is ushered inside.
+
Lavinia: Have you put any thought into what you will wear? My sister has suggested something to show off your tattoos. She seems to think I should try to make everyone else jealous. I don't think I'll have to try, honestly.

Zanne Machel: Marquess Stillmarch, thank you for coming. Can I offer you something to eat or drink?
+
Gueiris: While I would happily consider any suggestion, as such ceremonies are not my expertise, I feel it may be hard to be respectable, at least for the ceremony without a proper jacket on.

Lamont: a drink, please. Thank you, your grace.
+
Gueiris: Afterward... I could always claim I was hot?

Zanne Machel: nods, and will go to fix Lamont a drink.
+
Lavinia: Well, that is certainly true.

Zanne Machel: I understand congratulations are in order.
+
Lavinia: smiles mischeivously.

Lamont: Yes, thank you.  We will be releasing a formal public announcement soon.
+
Gueiris: and what have you been telling your sister about my tattoos?

Zanne Machel: I'm happy to hear it, truly.
+
Lavinia: blushes.

Zanne Machel: walks over to hand Lamont his drink.
+
Lavinia: Oh... I... I mean...

Lamont: will take it
+
Lavinia: ...nothing.

Zanne Machel: I would like to also offer my apologies.
+
Gueiris: so that much eh?

Lamont: oh?
+
Lavinia: takes a sip of her rum.

Zanne Machel: House Machel has been delinquent in its duties to you and your family, cousin, and I hope we can, in future, offer some remuneration for that debt.
+
Lavinia: I... have no idea what you're talking about.

Zanne Machel: Our attention was directed elsewhere in the Confederacy, and my father's trust in your uncle allowed his corruption to fester. I offer this solely as explanation, not excuse.
+
Gueiris: Well I do hope she likes me, and has gotten over that messed up confusion from before.

Zanne Machel: To think what it has cost us all...
+
Lavinia: She wants me to be happy. She seems content that you make me so.

Lamont: nods and takes a sip of his drink
+
Lavinia: I've explained the circumstances of the... incident to her.

Zanne Machel: I hope it will offer some solace that he will face justice. We apprehended him attempting to flee the city the day of the riot.
+
Gueiris: I'm glad that is sorted.

Lamont: It.... I see.
+
Gueiris: Thank you for the rum... but I really should not be staying long, as this is quite impromptu, and might be a little inappropriate.

Zanne Machel: Given my personal connection to the case, I won't be trying it, but I have the utmost faith in my colleague who will be. It will be a sealed case, out of the public eye, but, I assure you, Thurston will cause no further harm.
+
Gueiris: I just need to make sure you all were safe.

Lamont: ...What are the charges?
+
Lavinia: nods.

Zanne Machel: Corruption and conspiracy of multiple kinds, on multiple counts. It may still take some time to ferret out all of his crimes, but we've enough evidence to bring the first charges. My colleague is even considering charging him with apostasy and handing him over to the Asmodeans, but we'd prefer he remain in Machel custody, of course.
+
Lavinia: Of course. Thank you for coming.

Lamont: nods
+
Lavinia: I... I'm glad you did.

Lamont: ...I'm sorry, even with some expectations, this is quite a lot
+
Gueiris: takes a quick glance around, and will lean in to kiss her

Zanne Machel: nods.
+
Lavinia: will sigh and lean into him.

Zanne Machel: It's not my intention to overwhelm you, but I would assume your realize this presents something of a power vacuum that will need addressing quickly.
+
Lavinia: Mmmm...

Josh: (you*)
+
Lavinia: You should go before we truly do disgrace ourselves.

Lamont: yes, of course
+
Gueiris: Yes... yes... we do want this wedding to go off without complications.

Zanne Machel: First and foremost, there is no public head of the Allard family at the moment.
+
Gueiris: I will see you soon?

Lamont: nods slowly, and takes another drink
+
Lavinia: Yes, of course. I have some very exciting cloth and flower samples for you to look through.

Zanne Machel: Now, legally, you are still Thurston's ward until you marry, with his consent. Luckily, however, my father may stand in his stead, and I have a signed document offering his enthusiastic consent for your match.
+
Lavinia: Not to mention the invitations.

Zanne Machel: And, obviously, upon your marriage, all assets and responsibilities of your station will fully revert to you.
+
Gueiris: I look forward to it.

Lamont: Thank you.
+
Lavinia: smiles.

Zanne Machel: It is, truly, our duty to you.
+
Gueiris: downs the last of the rum, and will slip out the door

Zanne Machel: offers a small fortifying smile at that.
+
Lavinia: will watch him from the doorway as he rides off.

Zanne Machel: If I might ask, have you given much thought to what you'll do after your wedding?
+
===Rosalie and Juno Visit the Museum===

Lamont: ...how do you mean?
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: will arrive at the museum early to wait for everyone.

Zanne Machel: gestures towards one of a pair of chairs near the window looking out on the lawn.
+
Rosalie: will arrive shortly before Lamont is scheduled to arrive and wait with Juno

Zanne Machel: You've heard the rumors about the ongoing conflict in the south?
+
Rosalie: checks the time

Lamont: (gestures as in let's sit?)
+
The marquess must be running late.

Josh: (Yeah)
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: That's unlike him, isn't it?

Lamont: I have, yes.
+
Rosalie: nods

Lamont: will take a seat
+
I would think so. He must have been delayed by something.

Lamont: I have been expecting to hear that my unit is to be depoyed there, and I expected to be sent with them....
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, present company is just fine with me.

Zanne Machel: That is...one possibility.
+
Josh: (Was there a specific like exhibit or anything we were all coming to see?)

Zanne Machel: I understand there was some difficulty with your unit during your last deployment? Above and beyond the obvious.
+
Rosalie: (Just some new exhibit, I can't remember what it was originally.)

Zanne Machel: likewise takes a seat.
+
Lamont: (I don't think we specified, heh)

Lamont: looks out the window.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Truth be told, I don't know the first thing about...any of this. Art was not much a part of my upbringing.

Lamont: ...the difficulty was not with my unit.
+
Rosalie: Oh, I am not so learned in art, either. I am mostly here for the historical bits and bobs they have on display.

Zanne Machel: nods.
+
Rosalie: But the great thing about art is that you don't need extensive education to admire it. says brightly, then blushes a little and loops her arm through Juno's

Zanne Machel: I spoke with cousin Alcina. She speaks highly of you, but said your dragonmark can be...difficult.
+
Shall we?

Lamont: nods.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: smiles.

Lamont: I appreciate her assessment.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Absolutely.

Zanne Machel: However despicable your uncle is, with him in custody, we've lost an asset. If you're willing, and with further training, we think you'd make a more than equal replacement.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: is happy to stroll along with Rosalie and admire the exhibits.

Lamont: ...I see.
+
Rosalie: Stillmarch said the private tour should begin not too long from now, we just have to meet the curator. I wonder if we'll still be able to see the collection without him here.

Lamont: Of course I am willing to serve in whatever role you think woudl be most suitable
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, even without Stillmarch here, you're still a Doumens. I'm sure plenty of this came from your family as well. 😉

Lamont: says, clearly a little overwhelmed with everything but  trying to keep up
+
Rosalie: Oh, well, yes, some. When Father passed away, I was appointed executor, which was really quite the to-do since I wasn't of an age yet. Anyway, we had quite an extensive art collection just sitting in a gallery in the house, so I donated the lot.

Zanne Machel: On a more personal note, I think Thurston's methods were counterproductive to long-term stability. Since your return to the city, you've demonstrated an ability to attract and coordinate disparate allies, under difficult circumstances, towards an outcome beneficial for all parties.
+
Rosalie: Seb and I used the gallery for fencing practice after that. grins

Zanne Machel: Excepting, of course, the obvious.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: laughs.

Zanne Machel: smiles a little grimly at that.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: That's more like my upbringing. The Auspexes are a military family, through and through.

Lamont: nods
+
Rosalie: laughs

Zanne Machel: It is my belief that that sort of inter-House, cross-Confederacy cooperation, rather than rivalry, is the only real path forward.
+
Well, I wouldn't say we are military, really. We dabble in many things. Were expectations high for you to join as well?

Lamont: I do agree, especially  as we are being drawn into more external matters
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Expectation might be underselling it. It was assumed I'd serve, particularly after it became apparent I had a talent for necromancy.

Zanne Machel: It's fortunate you bring that up.
+
Rosalie: Did you...ever want to be anything else?

Zanne Machel: You know about the Ebemar resolution working through Parliament? I know it was in the papers, but you've also had quite a lot to be dealing with, of course.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Would you think me unimaginative if I said no?

Lamont: No, I haven't.
+
Rosalie: No, not at all. I would envy you, maybe.

Zanne Machel: A resolution has been introduced that will provide a possible pathway towards Ebemar's application for membership in the Confederacy. Confidentially, I'm not sure its in either our or their interests to see it to successful inclusion, but it will provide momentum for allied reformist groups in our closest ally on Ahkas.
+
Rosalie: To know your path and walk it so assuredly is a wonderful thing. I sometimes wish I had the same confidence in my path.

Lamont: I see.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Your path isn't set. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Lamont: considers, then adds,
+
Rosalie: This is true. Perhaps I just wish for opportunities that appealed to me more.

Lamont: I believe there are at least some in the delegation here who view it similarly
+
Rosalie: In any case, the collection we donated should be in the East wing.

Zanne Machel: nods.
+
Rosalie: There are some silly things there. Apparently, a relative of mine must have loved boats, they devoted a lot of energy into buying as many pieces with boats in them as possible.

Zanne Machel: What would you think of deployment to Ebemar, rather than Per An?
+
Josh: Rosalie, you have to do a double-take, but you see your mother at the end of the gallery, talking to a shadar-kai man.

Lamont: I should take some time to consider it more carefully, but, based on all you've said, I think I would see it favourably
+
Rosalie: Even some pottery with little naval scenes....trails off, staring into the distance
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: Are you all right?
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: gives Rose a concerned look.

Zanne Machel: I would also add that it is likely a much safer assignment, if, say, a young officer wanted to bring their spouse along.
+
Rosalie: Uh, yes. My mother is here.

Lamont: He would certainly appreciate that, and I believe he would appreciate the opportunity
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Oh! Were you...expecting her?

Zanne Machel: nods.
+
Rosalie: looks a little flustered and begins straightening her appearance

Zanne Machel: There's still some time for you to discuss and decide, but the sooner we know one way or the other, the sooner we can plan accordingly.
+
Rosalie: I wasn't.  We have not seen each other for some time.

Lamont: I understand.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: Should we go say hello? Or I can wait if you want to speak to her yourself?

Lamont: I will give it due consideration. And I should have few other concerns to occupy me.
+
Rosalie: Oh, yes. I mean, no. I mean, yes, let's go say hello. Together, that is.

Zanne Machel: nods, and offer her hand.
+
Juno Morticia Auspex: squeezes Rosalie's hand reassuringly.

Zanne Machel: Please let me know if there's any way I can help.
+
Rosalie: gives a small, stressed smile and leads the way to her mother

Zanne Machel: Truly.
+
Rosalie: (Name of the shadar-kai?)

Lamont: will take it
+
Josh: (Emlyn Rhydderch)
 +

 +
Rosalie: reaches her mother and the man
 +

 +
Mother, hello. I did not know you were in town.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Rosie, dear, I didn't expect to see you here. I was going to come by the house later today.
 +

 +
Rosalie: Oh, well, what providence then! Mother, may I introduce you to my...to Magus Juno Auspex. Juno, this is my mother, LadyInga Doumens.
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: It's an honor and a pleasure to meet you, Lady Doumens.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Yes, wonderful to meet any friend of my daughter's, magus. I would introduce you to my friend, but he was just taking his leave, and he doesn't speak Nerathi.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: says something to her companion, who nods and makes an apologetic face, then turns to go.
 +

 +
Rosalie: I did not know you were coming to town soon. Was it an unexpected trip?
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Well, you know me, dear, I don't tend to plan very far ahead.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: (to Juno) Luckily, she doesn't take after me.
 +

 +
Rosalie: nods
 +

 +
I am unlike you and Father in this particular way. But I am glad to see you, nonetheless.
 +

 +
Rosalie: Sébastien will be glad, as well. And you must meet his new fiancé while you are in town.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Apparently I'm behind on my correspondence. A fiancé, you say? I'm delighted. And yourself?
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: gives Juno a glance, which is answered with a blush.
 +

 +
Rosalie: gives a quick glance to Juno, as well, and blushes
 +

 +
Oh, well, no, I am not engaged, yet. Sébastien only just proposed on Founder's Day.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Oh, so I haven't missed too much of it, and I can still play the overbearing mother-in-law-to-be.
 +

 +
Rosalie: laughs lightly
 +

 +
You may certainly give it a shot, but I think you'll find his fiancé up to the task.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Challenges can be fun.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Speaking of fun, I should leave you to yours, but I'll see you this evening?
 +

 +
Rosalie: nods
 +

 +
Of course. I shall make sure Sébastien stays home from his club, as well.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: Excellent, there's my good girl. I'll leave you two to your...stroll.
 +

 +
Inga Doumens: gives Rosie a kiss on the cheek, and an encouraging smile to Juno.
 +

 +
Rosalie: will wait until her mother has left, then let out a sigh
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, she seems...fun?
 +

 +
Rosalie: lets out a startled laugh
 +

 +
Rosalie: Yes, you might say. I think sometimes I am the apple that rolled very far from my family tree.
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: gives a bemused smile.
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, I think you're fun. 😉
 +

 +
Rosalie: grins
 +

 +
For you, I can be very fun.
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: Then I say we make the most of our visit, hmm? Fortify you for dealing with your mother later?
 +

 +
Rosalie: sighs again and leans slightly into Juno's side
 +

 +
I do believe you are a miracle.
 +

 +
Rosalie: Let's go see how many boats we can find.
 +

 +
Juno Morticia Auspex: Aye, captain.
 +

 +

===Chitara Apologizes To Lamont===
 +

 +
Chitara: Chitara has been kept fairly busy dealing with the fallout of people being attacked in the name of their cause, but a couple days after, Chitara calls at his new place
 +

 +
Lamont: will come down and meet her in the parlor
 +

 +
Lamont: miss Kitus, good afternoon
 +

 +
Lamont: Would you care for some tea or coffee?
 +

 +
Chitara: smiles in obvious relief that he's up and about
 +

 +
I would love some tea, thank you. I'm so glad to see you're well.
 +

 +
Lamont: Oh, I'm quite well, thank you
 +

 +
Lamont: says, sounding slightly puzzeled
 +

 +
Lamont: ...oh, have you been talking to Nik?
 +

 +
Chitara: smiles wryly
 +

 +
Well, yes, but I likely would've heard anyway unless it was a complete secret. We've been doing damage control
 +

 +
Lamont: I didn't realize the news had travelled very far, but in any case, I am fine, and I don't hold your cause accountable in any case.
 +

 +
Chitara: I am glad to hear it but I do still feel somewhat responsible.
 +

 +
Lamont: Please, you're really not.
 +

 +
Lamont: (A servant will come in with a tray of tea and some little nibbles an serve)
 +

 +
Lamont: The matter is under investigation, I'm sure anything relevant will be relayed to you.
 +

 +
Lamont: was it a planned rally?
 +

 +
Chitara: It was not. We had no word anyone was going to be doing anything that morning until there were injuries.
 +

 +
makes a face
 +

 +
Its honestly pretty bizarre
 +

 +
Lamont: nods
 +

 +
Chitara: At least it seems everyone injured has been seen to and no lasting harm was done
 +

 +
Lamont: yes, the response was pretty quick, I understand..
 +

 +
Lamont: I'm lucky Nik got me out of there quickly
 +

 +
Lamont: says with a fond smile
 +

 +
Chitara: Yeah, that was some seriously quick thinking on his part. Honestly, I'm impressed.
 +

 +
Lamont: I regret that he's been exposed to so many crises while in my presence, but I have been grateful to have him nonetheless
 +

 +
Lamont: Did he tell you our news?
 +

 +
Chitara: He did! I'm happy for you both. He's a wonderful guy, he deserves someone who'll make him as happy as you do
 +

 +
Lamont: Thank you.  He is wonderful, more than I deserve, but I will do my best for him.
 +

 +
Chitara: shrugs and finally picks up her cup of tea
 +

 +
You'll have to forgive me for trusting his judgement over yours on the matter
 +

 +
Lamont: No, I think that's entirely fair.
 +

 +
Chitara: smiles
 +

 +
He's a good judge of character
 +

 +
Lamont: Well, as I said, I will try to live up to his assessment.
 +

===Nik Talks To Callisto About His Future Career===
 +

 +
Nik: can go and pay a visit to Callisto (who has probably been sending him periodic reminders to talk to her ;)
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: : She has a cluttered desk , trying to find something but making more of a mess :
 +

 +
Nik: I hope this is a good time?
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: She lets out a squeak at the sudden interruption, sending most of the papers to the floor.
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "I...yes...I've been trying to get some one-on-one with you. Come in, come in."
 +

 +
Nik: comes in
 +

 +
Nik: I'm sorry, I've just been so busy lately.
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "Does that mean you have a new book or books to submit to me?"
 +

 +
Nik: Oh, not a new book yet, no.... I might have a few new ideas, but it will be a little while before I have the leisure to put them to paper.  But I wanted to reassure you that I'm definitely thinking about it!
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "What...what else has kept you so busy?"
 +

 +
Nik: Oh, the season, you know, social events... also, well... I have become engaged to Lord Stillmarch :3
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "You're...you're getting married?! When?"
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "Will this effect your literary work?"
 +

 +
Nik: In the fall, I think? The date is still a little uncertain.
 +

 +
Nik: And, well, I don't know!  I'll certainly do my best, but there may be extenuating circumstances that need my attention.
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "True, true. I just don't want you to give it up completely. Some of our writers only write because they need the money. I know that's not your situation. But if this marriage is giving you the support you need, let me know now if we need to find someone else to take up the pen name."
 +

 +
Nik: Oh, no, certainly I wouldn't think that is necessary 😮
 +

 +
Nik: I feel like people might be able to tell?
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: She releases a sigh of relief and leans back in her chair. "That's good to hear."
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: At Nik's remark she snort/snickers. "You'd be surprised."
 +

 +
Nik: I would?
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: She scratches the side of her nose. "That'd be telling."
 +

 +
Nik: Oh... I see.
 +

 +
Nik: well, I did just want to let you know that I haven't forgotten you.  But that it will still be a little while longer before I have a book to show you.
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "Are at least a couple of chapters you can let me read? If for nothing else than to give the appearance you still take this seriously."
 +

 +
Nik: ...
 +

 +
Nik: I wrote my first book for fun, I didn't think I was obliged to take it very seriously.  I already said I don't have anything to give you right now, but if you aren't willing to wait, perhaps this isn't the right direction for me to go in.
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: Callisto stays quiet a moment then slowly nods. "I apologize. I shouldn't be pushing you like this. You'd think after all this time I'd have more patience with writers. But publication world can be cut throat sometimes, and it feels like I'm going under any moment."
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "But that doesn't excuse me from pressuring you so much."
 +

 +
Nik: Well, I'm sorry about that.  I do want to write another book, but I need a few free moments to do that in.  I hope maybe soon I'll have that, though.
 +

 +
Callisto Vallee: "Just keep me in the loop, Nik."
 +

 +
Nik: I'll try to!
 +

===Zanne Informs Lamont of His Uncle's Arrest===
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: will have sent a carriage for Lamont to summon him to the Machel estate on the Crown.
 +

 +
Lamont: will go when summoned
 +

 +
Lamont: will dress appropriately, etc
 +

 +
Josh: Servants will be waiting for Lamont, and will escort him to an office in the central area of the house. It's small, quite full of books and papers, all of it neatly organized.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: will be waiting, standing when Lamont is ushered inside.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Marquess Stillmarch, thank you for coming. Can I offer you something to eat or drink?
 +

 +
Lamont: a drink, please. Thank you, your grace.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: nods, and will go to fix Lamont a drink.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I understand congratulations are in order.
 +

 +
Lamont: Yes, thank you.  We will be releasing a formal public announcement soon.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I'm happy to hear it, truly.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: walks over to hand Lamont his drink.
 +

 +
Lamont: will take it
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I would like to also offer my apologies.
 +

 +
Lamont: oh?
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: House Machel has been delinquent in its duties to you and your family, cousin, and I hope we can, in future, offer some remuneration for that debt.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Our attention was directed elsewhere in the Confederacy, and my father's trust in your uncle allowed his corruption to fester. I offer this solely as explanation, not excuse.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: To think what it has cost us all...
 +

 +
Lamont: nods and takes a sip of his drink
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I hope it will offer some solace that he will face justice. We apprehended him attempting to flee the city the day of the riot.
 +

 +
Lamont: It.... I see.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Given my personal connection to the case, I won't be trying it, but I have the utmost faith in my colleague who will be. It will be a sealed case, out of the public eye, but, I assure you, Thurston will cause no further harm.
 +

 +
Lamont: ...What are the charges?
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Corruption and conspiracy of multiple kinds, on multiple counts. It may still take some time to ferret out all of his crimes, but we've enough evidence to bring the first charges. My colleague is even considering charging him with apostasy and handing him over to the Asmodeans, but we'd prefer he remain in Machel custody, of course.
 +

 +
Lamont: nods
 +

 +
Lamont: ...I'm sorry, even with some expectations, this is quite a lot
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: nods.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: It's not my intention to overwhelm you, but I would assume your realize this presents something of a power vacuum that will need addressing quickly.
 +

 +
Josh: (you*)
 +

 +
Lamont: yes, of course
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: First and foremost, there is no public head of the Allard family at the moment.
 +

 +
Lamont: nods slowly, and takes another drink
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Now, legally, you are still Thurston's ward until you marry, with his consent. Luckily, however, my father may stand in his stead, and I have a signed document offering his enthusiastic consent for your match.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: And, obviously, upon your marriage, all assets and responsibilities of your station will fully revert to you.
 +

 +
Lamont: Thank you.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: It is, truly, our duty to you.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: offers a small fortifying smile at that.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: If I might ask, have you given much thought to what you'll do after your wedding?
 +

 +
Lamont: ...how do you mean?
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: gestures towards one of a pair of chairs near the window looking out on the lawn.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: You've heard the rumors about the ongoing conflict in the south?
 +

 +
Lamont: (gestures as in let's sit?)
 +

 +
Josh: (Yeah)
 +

 +
Lamont: I have, yes.
 +

 +
Lamont: will take a seat
 +

 +
Lamont: I have been expecting to hear that my unit is to be depoyed there, and I expected to be sent with them....
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: That is...one possibility.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I understand there was some difficulty with your unit during your last deployment? Above and beyond the obvious.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: likewise takes a seat.
 +

 +
Lamont: looks out the window.
 +

 +
Lamont: ...the difficulty was not with my unit.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: nods.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I spoke with cousin Alcina. She speaks highly of you, but said your dragonmark can be...difficult.
 +

 +
Lamont: nods.
 +

 +
Lamont: I appreciate her assessment.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: However despicable your uncle is, with him in custody, we've lost an asset. If you're willing, and with further training, we think you'd make a more than equal replacement.
 +

 +
Lamont: ...I see.
 +

 +
Lamont: Of course I am willing to serve in whatever role you think woudl be most suitable
 +

 +
Lamont: says, clearly a little overwhelmed with everything but  trying to keep up
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: On a more personal note, I think Thurston's methods were counterproductive to long-term stability. Since your return to the city, you've demonstrated an ability to attract and coordinate disparate allies, under difficult circumstances, towards an outcome beneficial for all parties.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Excepting, of course, the obvious.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: smiles a little grimly at that.
 +

 +
Lamont: nods
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: It is my belief that that sort of inter-House, cross-Confederacy cooperation, rather than rivalry, is the only real path forward.
 +

 +
Lamont: I do agree, especially  as we are being drawn into more external matters
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: It's fortunate you bring that up.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: You know about the Ebemar resolution working through Parliament? I know it was in the papers, but you've also had quite a lot to be dealing with, of course.
 +

 +
Lamont: No, I haven't.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: A resolution has been introduced that will provide a possible pathway towards Ebemar's application for membership in the Confederacy. Confidentially, I'm not sure its in either our or their interests to see it to successful inclusion, but it will provide momentum for allied reformist groups in our closest ally on Ahkas.
 +

 +
Lamont: I see.
 +

 +
Lamont: considers, then adds,
 +

 +
Lamont: I believe there are at least some in the  delegation here who view it similarly
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: nods.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: What would you think of deployment to Ebemar, rather than Per An?
 +

 +
Lamont: I should take some time to consider it more carefully, but, based on all you've said, I think I would see it favourably
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: I would also add that it is likely a much safer assignment, if, say, a young officer wanted to bring their spouse along.
 +

 +
Lamont: He would certainly appreciate that, and I believe he would appreciate the opportunity
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: nods.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: There's still some time for you to discuss and decide, but the sooner we know one way or the other, the sooner we can plan accordingly.
 +

 +
Lamont: I understand.
 +

 +
Lamont: I will give it due consideration.  And I should have few other concerns to occupy me.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: nods, and offer her hand.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Please let me know if there's any way I can help.
 +

 +
Zanne Machel: Truly.
 +

 +
Lamont: will take it

Lamont: Thank you, for all of this.

Lamont: Thank you, for all of this.
 +
 +
 +
===Lamont Tells Nik of His Uncle's Arrest===
 +
 +
Lamont: will head almost immediately to Nik's place after his meeting with Zanne
 +
 +
Nik: is reading, but of course will put his book down when you arrive.
 +
 +
Lamont: Nik!
 +
 +
Nik: Lamont? What's the matter?
 +
 +
Nik: gets up from his resting seat to come and greet you
 +
 +
Lamont:  is clearly excited, but also still reeling from everything
 +
 +
Lamont: Nothing... nothing at all
 +
 +
Lamont: pulls you in close for an embrace even if it is maybe not the most proper thing
 +
 +
Nik: looks puzzled, but smiles as he can tell that at least you don't seem upset about something
 +
 +
Nik: hugs you back of course
 +
 +
Lamont: My uncle's been arrested
 +
 +
Nik: he... what?
 +
 +
Nik: tell me everything, what happened?
 +
 +
Lamont: let's you go so we can talk more easily
 +
 +
Lamont: he's been arrested.  I just spoke with Zanne....  After the riots, he tried to flee the city
 +
 +
Lamont: she was quite confident that he will face full justice for his actions
 +
 +
Nik: That's... that's incredible, Lamont!
 +
 +
Lamont: It...it's over!
 +
 +
Nik: hugs you again
 +
 +
Nik: I'm so happy for you, it must be such a relief
 +
 +
Lamont: hugs you back tightly and sniffs
 +
 +
Lamont: Everything feels unreal
 +
 +
Lamont: And her father will endorse our match in his stead.  We don't have to wait.
 +
 +
Lamont: They don't want me to
 +
 +
Nik: 's eyes widen at that
 +
 +
Nik: you mean we could marry sooner than fall?
 +
 +
Lamont: yes
 +
 +
Lamont: And... there's even more than that.
 +
 +
Nik: really? what?
 +
 +
Lamont: They don't want to send me to Moro.
 +
 +
Nik: oh 😮
 +
 +
Lamont: They want me to.... step into my uncle's role... in some ways.  They want me to go to Ebemar.
 +
 +
Nik: oh, wow
 +
 +
Nik: that's... well, I'm sure it's a big responsibility, but I would surely not worry about you as much, even if we still need to be apart for a while...
 +
 +
Lamont: No - you could come with me
 +
 +
Nik: ... I could?
 +
 +
Lamont: yes.
 +
 +
Lamont: there's... things to consider
 +
 +
Nik: nods, still a bit dazed
 +
 +
Lamont: to talk through surely but...I think it is worth considering seriously.
 +
 +
Lamont: it's a lot.  It's so much.
 +
 +
Nik: Yes, oh, that would be wonderful! I ... I know that in choosing to be with you, it would mean we'd likely be apart for some time, but I admit that if we didn't have to be, that would be much nicer!
 +
 +
Lamont: Things I've not been able to... well.  It will be a lot of changes, regardless
 +
 +
Lamont: the biggest thing about this offer would be...  there would be more things I couldn't share with you.
 +
 +
Nik: how do you mean?
 +
 +
Lamont: what they are asking me to do... it would be intelligence work, of some sort or another.
 +
 +
Lamont: I expect that.... even off the battlefield, there woudl still be dangers, but they mght not be things I could tell you
 +
 +
Nik: oh...
 +
 +
Lamont: That's what I mean
 +
 +
Nik: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: We can think more about that...  I can hardly think at all
 +
 +
Nik: nods
 +
 +
Nik: but this is such wonderful news, we should do something to celebrate!
 +
 +
Lamont: ...yes, I suppose we should
 +
 +
Nik: rummages around to find his father's drink cabinet and get us each a glass of something ;)
 +
 +
Nik: here, let's drink to ... to freedom 🙂
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: yes... to freedom
 +
 +
Nik: did you... well, what did you mean about they don't want you to wait? do they want us to marry QUITE soon?
 +
 +
Nik: asks with barely concealed excitement
 +
 +
Lamont: there's currently no on to serve as the head ofhouse for my family, or to take charge of the estates
 +
 +
Lamont: I can't imagine things will fall to pieces immediately but they do consider it a priority for it to be remedied
 +
 +
Nik: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: at leqst, that was my understanding, but I may have been a little overwhelmed while she was explaining everything...
 +
 +
Nik: But you need to marry to be completely free of someone else's control?
 +
 +
Nik: I mean... other than your beloved, of course 😉
 +
 +
Lamont: yes.  I'm still bound by the guardianship, technically.
 +
 +
Nik: Well then, we should endeavour to remedy that as soon as we possibly can 😄
 +
 +
Lamont: I would like that very much
 +
 +
Nik: gives you an enthusiastic kiss
 +
 +
Lamont: mmmph
 +
 +
Nik: Now... should we go and talk to my father and tell him the good news? Or... should we lock the library door for a little while? 😉
 +
 +
Lamont: oh...
 +
 +
Lamont: I think perhaps... we should tell your father first, so as not to be in utter disarray for the conversation later....
 +
 +
Nik: hmm perhaps you have a point there
 +
 +
Nik: then later, we can celebrate properly
 +
 +
Lamont: nods and pulls Nik into another kiss
 +
 +
 +
===Leonora and Magga Ask Lamont to Be Their Baby Daddy===
 +
 +
Leonora: and Magga have invited Lamont over for dinner
 +
 +
Lamont: will arrive as directed, all nicely dressed
 +
 +
Leonora: tries not to clean obsessively to keep herself distracted before Lamont arrives.
 +
 +
Magga: Calm down, dear.
 +
 +
Leonora: I am calm.
 +
 +
Magga: Yes, I can tell how calm you are.  It'll be fine...
 +
 +
Leonora: Well.  He could say no, you know.  His situation has changed.
 +
 +
Magga: it's true.  But if he does, then we go to the next choice.  He's not the only stud at the market.  so to speak.
 +
 +
Leonora: You're right, of course.  Oh, that must be him at the door.
 +
 +
Leonora: goes to welcome their guest.
 +
 +
Magga: will accompany you
 +
 +
Leonora: smiles and tries not to look anxious as she opens the door.
 +
 +
Magga: grins widely and, perhaps, warmly.
 +
 +
Leonora: Hello, welcome!
 +
 +
Lamont: smiles in return, seeming fairly calm
 +
 +
Lamont: thank you
 +
 +
Magga: Good evening, Lord Stillmarch.
 +
 +
Leonora: Come in.  Dinner will be served shortly.  Will you have some wine?
 +
 +
Lamont: Hraal Wengal, Lady Leonora, thank you
 +
 +
Lamont: and yes, please
 +
 +
Lamont: I've also brought just a small token of gratitude for your hospitality
 +
 +
Lamont: will pass leonora a small basket
 +
 +
Leonora: Oh, thank you!
 +
 +
Leonora: leads everyone into the sitting room and sits to keep from fidgeting, and pours some wine for everyone.
 +
 +
Lamont: (It has some brandied cherries and a couple of stillmarch-produced clw potions ;)
 +
 +
Magga: Ooh, very nice.
 +
 +
Magga: says, admiring the gift basket
 +
 +
Leonora: So, it seems we have a couple of things to discuss.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Leonora: Magga and I have given the matter some thought, and if you are amenable, we would like to work up terms for a contract to provide us an heir, with the possibility of a second down the line.
 +
 +
Leonora: I realize that sounds all so very formal, but firstly, I am a formal woman, and secondly, the complexities of our lives do not allow us the luxury of deep informality in this regard.
 +
 +
Lamont: I am honoured to be your choice
 +
 +
Lamont: And I am well familiar with such complexities
 +
 +
Leonora: sips her wine and tries to keep calm.
 +
 +
Leonora: I realize that you may have various needs and interests.  The question of what you would like in return for this, ah, service, is an open one.
 +
 +
Lamont: I have given it some though - though I hve not discussed it extensively with Nik.
 +
 +
Leonora: Yes, am I to understand that congratulations are in order?
 +
 +
Lamont: yes....  a formal annoucement will be forthcoming but there are various formalities to tend to.
 +
 +
Lamont: thank you.
 +
 +
Leonora: smiles.
 +
 +
Leonora: Of course.
 +
 +
Leonora: He's an excellent choice.  Do you know that my family and his have long ties, in Thantopolis?
 +
 +
Lamont: I would be surprised if that were not the case
 +
 +
Leonora: Well, at any rate, we are very pleased for you both
 +
 +
Magga: Yes, congratulations.
 +
 +
Lamont: our union comes with it's own complexities, partly because I face similar expectation from my house to produce an heir with appropriate mark to maintain the alliance between my family and House Machel.
 +
 +
Leonora: Of course.
 +
 +
Lamont: While  there are ways, I understand, that Nik and I could have children of our own, they would not meet that criteria.  This is not somethig I have discussed with him at all....  I'm sure the question of succession has not even crossed his mind.
 +
 +
Leonora: Your relationship is very new.
 +
 +
Magga: Bit early for you to be worrying about children yet, I'd think?
 +
 +
Lamont: That is true.  And the duties and obligations of my family are very old.  At least by my people's standards
 +
 +
Lamont: says to Leonora, and then turns to Magga
 +
 +
Lamont: In some sense, yes.  but this was part of your marriage negotiations as well, so it shouldnt' be too surprising that it is something I must consider.
 +
 +
Magga: Oh, yes, but surely you want to have a chance to have some fun first.
 +
 +
Leonora: I recommend having as much fun as possible.
 +
 +
Lamont: I assure you, we will have plenty
 +
 +
Magga: chuckles
 +
 +
Leonora: Well, are there any terms you'd like to discuss now, informally?
 +
 +
Lamont: manages to say without blushing too thoroughly
 +
 +
Lamont: I would like to know if it would be possible to secure your assistance... one way or another, for arranging a suitable heir for myself.
 +
 +
Leonora: Well.
 +
 +
Leonora: I would certainly be open to it.
 +
 +
Leonora: When are you, ahh, how do I ask this delicately, have you decided for how long you would like to have fun before moving on to a more settled life?
 +
 +
Lamont: That is something I need to discuss with Nik - but certainly, this would be a few year away....
 +
 +
Lamont: But I'm also quite conscious that... my father was quite close to you in age, when he ...died.
 +
 +
Lamont: takes a momemtnto discard various euphemisms
 +
 +
Leonora: Well hopefully we do not have to consider death in this equation.
 +
 +
Lamont: Given how my wardship turned out, I would think it improdent to ignore.
 +
 +
Magga: Hrm, well.  If my wife's... availability doesn't correspond with your and your spouse's requirements, surely we know other potential partners we could help connect you with?
 +
 +
Leonora: The Palatine family is quite large.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: yes, as I said, I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be a ... direct exchage.  Though that I think would serve to strengthen the kind of social ties you spoke of building before.
 +
 +
Leonora: Of course.  To further cement the bond between our families, and our children.
 +
 +
Lamont: yes
 +
 +
Magga: We're envisioning this as an ongoing connection.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: That was my understanding
 +
 +
Leonora: Well, wonderful, then! It sounds like we are in agreement, at least in principle.
 +
 +
Leonora: I realize that this is just a first step, but we can toast to that!
 +
 +
Lamont: of course :)
 +
 +
Lamont: will raise his glass
 +
 +
Magga: will toast to that as well
 +
 +
Leonora: So, ahh, if it is not too imprudent, I should mention that I heard about your uncle's situation.  Actually, I may have had some small part to play.
 +
 +
Leonora: I understand that he is to be detained.
 +
 +
Lamont: He is facing trial, yes
 +
 +
Lamont: I'm sure the letter you showed me will have some bearing on that
 +
 +
Leonora: Were you aware that I spoke to him recently?
 +
 +
Lamont: No...
 +
 +
Leonora: Regarding the attack, and the letter, and his involvement with it.
 +
 +
Leonora: Something you may not know about me, Lamont, but you should, given our new agreement, is that I have an ongoing involvement in various sorts of sensitive work, in Nachtur.
 +
 +
Leonora: Serving our military in various capacities.
 +
 +
Leonora: The attack at Therma Alba was, frankly, just about the stupidest thing our enemies could have done.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: I am certainly not surprised
 +
 +
Leonora: For a Sentinel to be so intimately involved in this business.  Well. It offends my sensibilities.
 +
 +
Leonora: And Magga can tell you what happens to those who offend my sensibilities.
 +
 +
Lamont: I am confident he will face true justice
 +
 +
Leonora: Indeed.  I am afraid that, given the nature of gossip, you will need to deal with some backlash to all of this.
 +
 +
Lamont: If you played some role in his apprehension, then you have my gratitude for that
 +
 +
Leonora: I will say that I played some role in causing him to be so fearful for his situation that he acted more rashly than he otherwise would.  And spoke with far too much candour before he realized that he was being trapped.
 +
 +
 +
 +
Lamont: and that is inevitable, but also not anything new to me.  It will not be a public matter however.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Leonora: I am confident that Marquess Lownmont's ire is equal to my own, and that she will handle it.
 +
 +
Lamont: I am confident that it exceeds it.
 +
 +
Lamont: as an internal house matter, if not on other counts
 +
 +
Leonora: You, ah, you do not suppose that these charges that will be laid are anything near to the full extent of his crimes, do you?
 +
 +
Lamont: frowns slightly
 +
 +
Lamont: I'm not sure what you mean.
 +
 +
Leonora: I simply mean, what we know him to have done, is surely only a fraction of what he may have done over the years.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Leonora: And I would wonder ... how much you would want to know, about those other things.  Or whether it is best to just lay it all aside.
 +
 +
Lamont: (What is her intent here?)
 +
 +
Leonora: (to figure out whether Lamont is going to be ok with letting some of Thurston's other crimes go unpunished)
 +
 +
Lamont: I am personally - quite personally - familiar with a  great many of his transgressions.  I recognize that there may be more of these than we will ever truly know, but I am sure that his freedom is utterly forfeit, regardless.
 +
 +
Leonora: smiles.
 +
 +
Leonora: That is good to hear, Lamont.  You deserve unfettered happiness, as much as any of us can have that.
 +
 +
Lamont: ...Thank you, though I don't count myself as more deserving of such than anyone else
 +
 +
Leonora: Well, know that you have friends in the Wengal clan, willing to help you as you build your new life.
 +
 +
Lamont: I am grateful for your offer.  As I begin to do so, I trust I will have more to offer in return.
 +
 +
Leonora: All right, then.  I think I hear dinner being served, so we should head in and eat!
 +
 +
Magga: wakes up from his light doze and grins
 +
 +
Magga: I think you'll enjoy the meal - plenty of delicacies from my people!
 +
 +
Lamont: then I look forward to it all the more
 +
 +
Leonora: Try the grubs, they're delicious!
 +
 +
 +
===Lamont and Nik Inform Coifárë of the Good News===
 +
 +
Lamont: will have had his servants prepare a few little things in the expectation of afternoon guests
 +
 +
Coifárë: will arrive at the appointed time.
 +
 +
Lamont: stands when they are shown in, setting side the papers he was looking over
 +
 +
Coifárë: smiles as they enter.
 +
 +
Nik: will also get up and greet them
 +
 +
Josh: (Are there servants present?)
 +
 +
Lamont: Fárë, so wonderful to see you, as always
 +
 +
Lamont: (not for long)
 +
 +
Coifárë: And you as well, of course.
 +
 +
Coifárë: will wait for the servants to leave and then step over to give both boys a kiss.
 +
 +
Coifárë: So, your note said there was good news? Don't keep me in suspense.
 +
 +
Lamont: smiles
 +
 +
Lamont: My uncle's been arrested.
 +
 +
Coifárë: Wow, that's...that's amazing.
 +
 +
Lamont: A sealed trial but... a number of charges
 +
 +
Lamont: I've been assured the case is very strong
 +
 +
Coifárë: I would imagine so.
 +
 +
Coifárë: What does this mean for you?
 +
 +
Lamont: looks to Nik
 +
 +
Lamont: A great many things.  I'm still working through it all.
 +
 +
Nik: we can get married sooner!
 +
 +
Nik: blurts out
 +
 +
Lamont: yes.  As I am still bound by the terms of my guardianship, and there is no head of the Allard family, and....  Lord Machel has given his endorsement of our match
 +
 +
Lamont: That's the most immediate thing.
 +
 +
Coifárë: What?! Eeeeeeeeee!
 +
 +
Coifárë: moves to pull them both into a big hug.
 +
 +
Lamont: smiles broadly at their excitement and hugs back
 +
 +
Nik: also hugs back
 +
 +
Coifárë: When? Where? Oh, there's so much to plan. I'm so happy for you both!.
 +
 +
Lamont: We wanted to know....  if perhaps you would marry us?
 +
 +
Coifárë: pauses, then hugs them both tighter.
 +
 +
Coifárë: Oh course! That would be so great!
 +
 +
Lamont: It would :3
 +
 +
Lamont: A summer wedding, afterall...
 +
 +
Coifárë: What are you thinking? Here in Highmark, at Therma Alba, Stillmarch...?
 +
 +
Nik: glances at Lamont
 +
 +
Lamont: looks back
 +
 +
Nik: We hadn't really figured that out yet... did you have a preference?
 +
 +
Lamont: Honestly, my mind is still reeling from a great many things
 +
 +
Lamont: I think... they're may be too many disruptions in Stillmarch to organize anything appropriate...  and I know your family is still dealign with the aftermath of the attack....
 +
 +
Nik: /me nods
 +
 +
Lamont: Maybe Highmark would be best?  Or... somewhere else?
 +
 +
Nik: HIghmark is fine with me.
 +
 +
Coifárë: Highmark is the most convenient for attendees, I would think.
 +
 +
Nik: Anywhere would be wonderful with you 🙂
 +
 +
Lamont: smiles
 +
 +
Coifárë: smiles.
 +
 +
Lamont: Highmark, then.
 +
 +
Lamont: One decision made...
 +
 +
Lamont: many to go.
 +
 +
Coifárë: You'll need new outfits, and you'll need to pick your wedding party, and we'll need to find you a venue, and...oh, this is going to be so great!
 +
 +
Nik: grins excitedly
 +
 +
Lamont: nods, trying not to look overwhelmed
 +
 +
Nik: Like you said, Lamont, I'm sure if we let them, our mothers would do much of the arrangements.  For the things we are less concerned about, we can seek their help 🙂
 +
 +
Lamont: We would welcome your assistance.  I'll probably enlist my mother as well, I'm sure she'll be keen...
 +
 +
Lamont: nods to Nik
 +
 +
Lamont: yes, just so.
 +
 +
Coifárë: is just grinning so much.
 +
 +
Coifárë: I want to talk about this for days, but I'm assuming that's not all that came out of Thurston being arrest.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods, his expression turning serious again
 +
 +
Lamont: No, there are a number of other things.  I'll be expected to take over management of my family's various responsibilities, of course, but that includes so... different career prospects
 +
 +
Lamont: Which is to say - I have been offered a posting to Ebemar, which would allow me to bring Nik.
 +
 +
Coifárë: Oh, wow.
 +
 +
Coifárë: That's incredible, Lamont. And Nik, too, getting to travel to Ahkas, you must be so excited.
 +
 +
Coifárë: You two have so much going on. 😄
 +
 +
Lamont: smiles at Nik, knowing just HOW excited he has been about the idea :3
 +
 +
Nik: Yes, I am!
 +
 +
Lamont: We do....  I know I've said it before but...  you are welcome to be part if it, as much as you would like
 +
 +
Lamont: offers them his hand
 +
 +
Coifárë: Count on it. 😉
 +
 +
Coifárë: takes Lamont's hand.
 +
 +
Lamont: Good.  We'll hold a space for you, wherever we are.
 +
 +
Nik: Oh good 🙂 He's been worried, I think, that you wouldn't be able to go with us, but he was really hoping you would say yes.  As was I, of course!
 +
 +
Lamont: blushes at that
 +
 +
Lamont: I dind't.... don't want to presume... you would do more than visit....
 +
 +
Coifárë: I have duties here, much as I do my best to downplay them, but I have good stewards.
 +
 +
Coifárë: What do you mean?
 +
 +
Lamont: squeezes their hand
 +
 +
Lamont: I mean... whatever you are comfortable with  But you are welcome to come with us, if you like.
 +
 +
Lamont: We have time to figure things out
 +
 +
Coifárë: squeezes back, and reaches for Nik's hand.
 +
 +
Coifárë: I'm so happy for that. I know things have been difficult for you for...truly years at this point, but, with Thurston gone...it's like you can actually breathe, and live, and plan, and dream, and...oh it's so wonderful.
 +
 +
Nik: He's been much more relaxed already - despite all the planning we'll have to deal with 🙂
 +
 +
Coifárë: smiles at that.
 +
 +
Nik: glances at Lamont
 +
 +
Lamont: It does feel like a huge burden has been lifted... but it doesn't feel wholly real, either
 +
 +
Nik: Did you want to tell them about... the things with Lord and Lady Wengal?
 +
 +
Nik: asks in what he probably thinks is a discreet way but is actually extremely suspicious ;)
 +
 +
Coifárë: definitely looks curious.
 +
 +
Lamont: oh, hmmm.  In confidence, perhaps?
 +
 +
Lamont: It's not solely our affair.
 +
 +
Lamont: nor is anything official
 +
 +
Lamont: glances at Coifare, but also will take Nik's hand to complete the circle :3
 +
 +
Coifárë: Is this about the heir situation?
 +
 +
Lamont: yes.
 +
 +
Lamont: are you familiar?
 +
 +
Coifárë: I've talked with her about it a few times, but I wasn't aware any decisions had been made.
 +
 +
Lamont: Well, they have asked me.  Considering our own situation, there is  possibility of a more... resiprocal relationship of some sort.  But again...  it is all under discussion currently
 +
 +
Lamont: I suspect that is proabably what Nik is more excited about :x
 +
 +
Nik: smiles
 +
 +
Nik: In a few years, though.  Not right away!
 +
 +
Lamont: yes.
 +
 +
Coifárë: chuckles.
 +
 +
Coifárë: It's nice to be able to plan ahead, though.
 +
 +
Lamont: nods
 +
 +
Lamont: It's... again... its a lot @_@
 +
 +
Lamont: I'm so grateful to have the support I have now.
 +
 +
Coifárë: And will continue to have. 🙂
 +
 +
Lamont: Yes.
 +
 +
Lamont: will pull them both back close into another embrace :3

Summary

Session date: 2023-05-08

Ardith Aethlin invites Victorina to her office to inform her that they are moving forward with a proposal to create a framework for Ebemar's inclusion into the Confederacy. progress! Victorina gets invited to a meeting about it. Hopefully she understands that this is her life now.

Leonora invites Yadda for breakfast and they talk about what the next season might look like for Yadda. Hopefully fewer demons.

Katherina and Lavinia go dress shopping in advance of the wedding. They talk about Vinnie's plans for the future and how she is living the dream of being her own person and WITH a super hot partner! #Winning!

Leonora gets Thurston to admit he wrote the letter and then instills a self-destructive paranoia that he is about to be caught. Note: This leads to his being caught.

Lamont and Nik turn to Coifárë for help after getting caught up in a protest turned violent (with a little help and some well placed coins from Thurston), disrupting their morning-after canoodling with an opera singer. Nik manages a little divine healing and Coifárë takes care of the rest of Lamont's injuries.

Meanwhile, Rose and Juno enjoy the museum, wondering where the boys are, until they unexpectedly run into Rose's mother. Definitely a coincidence, 100%

Chitara stops by to apologize to Lamont for the assault, and is relieved when he doesn't feel like she or her cause are responsible. Almost like he knows there was something else going on :V

Nik drops in to see Callisto, and learns a few surprising things about the publishing industry that he might have rather not learned! Still he promises to keep her updated about his next book, which he will definitely have time to work on soon 100%. Nothing else on his schedule...

Zanne invites Lamont to an Extremely Formal meeting to tell him that their uncle is under Super Arrest and pretty much everything he has ever dared to want in his life is now on the table. Somehow he manages not to cry.

Lamont tells Nik the extremely good news and again, somehow manages not to cry (but barely). Nik is very excited: it's going to be a summer wedding after all, and they won't be separated by Lamont's military obligations!

Leonora and Magga invite Lamont over to tell him that they would like to offer him the position as babbydaddy, and they discuss the possible terms. Baby swap, anyone? She also lets him know of her role in Thurston's arrest. Good riddance!

Lamont and Nik invite Coifárë to Lamont's place to tell them the good news, invoke their help with the wedding, and invite them to live with them in Ahkas. Awwww :3

Session

Victorina Discusses Politics With Ardith

Josh: (Could have done the setup for this as epistolary, actually, but, ah well, did not think of it)

Ardith Aethelin: will send a letter to Victorina to try to set up a meeting at her office in the Parliament complex.

Victorina: Victorina will arrive at the appointed time in her best suit with a bulging satchel

Josh: A young shifter woman will greet Victorina upon her arrival, and see her into the office, walking with a noticeable limp.

Ardith Aethelin: is waiting in her office, and stands to greet Victorina with a smile.

Ardith Aethelin: Ms. Allement, thank you for coming.

Victorina: "The honor is mine for the invitation."

Ardith Aethelin: Please, have a seat. Would you like something to drink? Coffee, tea?

Victorina: "Some tea will be lovely."

Ardith Aethelin: Saiya?

Saiya Harrowden: On it, back in a bit.

Ardith Aethelin: smiles and shakes her head a little as Saiya exits.

Ardith Aethelin: I hope it wasn't too arduous a trek up here.

Victorina: "Not too difficult, I assure you. I'm use to long walks."

Ardith Aethelin: If nothing else, Highmark is good exercise.

Ardith Aethelin: So, I have to confess I have something of an ulterior motive for asking you here today. I did want to speak with you about some upcoming legislation, but I also very much wanted you to be seen coming to my office to discuss the same.

Victorina: "Oh? What legislation are you referring to?"

Ardith Aethelin: It's a motion to create a framework for an Ebemari application for Confederacy membership.

Victorina: Victorina internally:

Josh: (Heh)

Ardith Aethelin: It's far from a done deal, but I'm hoping our meeting her will signal how seriously this is being taken.

Josh: (here*, not her)

Victorina: "Of course, of course. It's a step in the right direction." She settles the satchel on her lap. "Is there anything in particular you want to discuss?"

Ardith Aethelin: Well, I do want to caution you that this going to be a long, uphill battle, both here and back home for you. There will be benchmarks Ebemar will need to meet, and it will have to demonstrate its internal support for the move.

Victorina: "My presence here should be a good indicator of Ebemar's desire to join the Confederacy. What benchmarks need to be met?"

Ardith Aethelin: Well, as I'm sure you know, the Confederacy takes a dim view of the practice of slavery, for instance.

Victorina: "Right, right." She's taking notes.

Ardith Aethelin: Ebemar would need to take steps to eliminate the practice before membership could be seriously considered. There's also security concerns, parliamentary arrangements to consider...It's a complex issue, and somewhat unique despite several new states having joined recently.

Ardith Aethelin: I did want to ask...

Ardith Aethelin: I love my country, but our history in your homeland is...rocky at best. Are you certain this is in Ebemar's best interest?

Victorina: Victorina sets down her pen and puts all the papers aside. "My belief is that for now, joining the Confederacy is the better option for us in the long run. True, we're incredibly stubborn which can be a boon sometimes. However, we do not have the...mettle to back such pride."

Ardith Aethelin: nods contemplatively.

Victorina: "We need the reputation that being a member of the Confederacy can bring us, and the protection that'll make hostile neighbors think twice or even thrice about taking our territory for themselves."

Victorina: "I understand joining the Confederacy forces Ebemar to restructure a great deal many things. But it's changes that need to happen."

Ardith Aethelin: There are those, myself included, who have reservations about getting involved in any sort of military conflict in Ahkas again, but I recognize those sorts of commitments are part and parcel of this agreement.

Ardith Aethelin: My fervent hope is we can prevent any sort of hostility.

Victorina: "Exactly. Sometimes the threat is enough to keep the peace."

Ardith Aethelin: nods.

Ardith Aethelin: You're confident a referendum in Ebemar would support membership?

Victorina: "Yes."

Ardith Aethelin: Well, I suspect you'll have your work cut out for you regardless, much as we will here.

Ardith Aethelin: Councilor Tiobraide will be introducing the motion in committee in the next few days, and we'll begin this whole process.

Victorina: "All right. Will this meeting be available for public view?"

Ardith Aethelin: I'm sure we can arrange for you to be present, if you like. Committee meetings aren't usually open to the public, but clearly you're not a random lay person.

Victorina: She nods, "I understand. Thank you."

Ardith Aethelin: You're quite welcome. I'm sure we'll be working together more in the coming days.

Saiya Harrowden: will return with tea, and Ardith will happily discuss the political landscape re: the bill.

Thurston and Mikethelas Give Their Blessings to the Marriage

Lamont: will receive his guests as they arrive, having tried to arrange for Nik and his parents to arrive before his uncle

Mikethelas Amathalis: and Falmar will arrive at the appointed time, dressed in Highmark fashions.

Nik: will arrive a bit early, also dressed in a new suit of Highmark style, with his hair in a braid.

Lamont: (Is Nik coming with them?)

Nik: (probably yes? I assume that would be easiest.)

Lamont: Please come, be welcome in my home

Lamont: says, trying not to me 100 million nerves

Nik: smiles reassuringly

Mikethelas Amathalis: Thank you, Lord Stillmarch, you honor us with the invitation.

Falmar Amathalis: I hope you've been settling in well?

Lamont: yes, I've been working to make it a more comfortable space

Lamont: can entertain people in the parlour while waiting for Thurston :x

Nik: I think it's looking wonderful 🙂

Lamont: is trying to be his most proper, also, but smiles warmly at Nik

Mikethelas Amathalis: smiles at Nik's comment.

Lamont: I'm glad to hear you think so, I would like it to be a welcoming place for you in particular

Falmar Amathalis: Are you planning to keep the apartment, my lord?

Lamont: If not this one, then one like it, unless it's owner decides he would be happy to part with it more permanently

Nik: It is a good location in Highmark, and of course one needs to have a place here, even if it's not one's primary residence.

Mikethelas Amathalis: nods.

Mikethelas Amathalis: That's what I was curious about. I know there are...things set in motion, but ultimately you'd be taking up in Griffin's Crest, wouldn't you?

Lamont: Ultimately, I suppose. It has been my family's home here for several generations...

Thurston Allard: is announced and swoops in with an unnatural looking smile on his face

Mikethelas Amathalis: will wait for his host to speak to the new arrival first.

Lamont: Thank you for joining us, Uncle.

Thurston Allard: I am delighted to be here for this. Your suitor seems to have done you well

Lamont: Thank you.

Lamont: I would like to introduce you to his grace, the curiate Therma Alba, and his lady wife, and of course, their son, lord Evenor. Curiate, Lady, Nik, This is my uncle, MisterThurston Allard.

Nik: Good evening, Mr. Allard, and thank you for joining us.

Falmar Amathalis: A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Allard.

Mikethelas Amathalis: Well said, my dear.

Lamont: Please, won't you all join me in the dining room.

Thurston Allard: will bow or whatever the appropriate greeting is for a Curiate, though Lamont can definitely feel the momentary spike of murderous rage at being introduced merely as 'mister'

A delight to meet you all, I'm sure. Let's hope my nephew's kitchen staff have done him proud.

Nik: Thank you.

Mikethelas Amathalis: will escort his wife to the dining room.

Nik: will accompany Lamont

Thurston Allard: will follow the rest

Lamont: can escort everyone in, offering Nik his arm, and seat Nik as well, indicating where everyone is to be sat, with himself at the head of the table

Nik: This looks lovely 🙂

Falmar Amathalis: Yes, a splendid supper, Lord Stillmarch.

Lamont: has probably fussed over the planning for this so much :x

Lamont: thank you, I hope everything is to your liking

Thurston Allard: looks the whole room over critically, then nods It does look well.

Lamont: 's servants will bring out the various courses

Lamont: I'm glad to hear you say so

Lamont: has NOT been a petty bitch and served up a bunch of stuff he kows his uncle dislikes >.>)

Thurston Allard: I admit, I had some concerns when you insisted on setting up your household from scratch, there are so many unscrupulous 'servants' looking for positions. But I can admit when I am wrong

Lamont: I am fortunate that Marchioness Lowmont was able to provide me some references

Falmar Amathalis: I think it's nice you're able to provide more opportunities for employment.

Lamont: nods

Thurston Allard: nods a touch condescendingly Life is easier with family connections, certainly. I'm glad you two are still on good terms.

Lamont: hold his breath briefly before repying 'It has been good to reconnect.'

Mikethelas Amathalis: I hope Marchioness Lowmont is doing well. She's been quite helpful.

Lamont: She is, yes but quite busy. I was grateful she was able to make time for me.

Thurston Allard: I imagine she would be, yes.

Lamont: nods

Thurston Allard: eats quietly and politely

Lamont: will try and keep conversation moving and make sure to engage everyone, though as much as he is being very formal he can't/won't hide his fondness for Nik

Falmar Amathalis: will do her best to keep up the conversation.

Mikethelas Amathalis: is more reserved than usual, but doing his best.

Lamont: respects Mikethelas's intent to not do a countermurder at this awkward dinner

Nik: will be on his most upbeat and cheerful behaviour, trying to keep things from getting too silent or awkward as well.

Lamont: So, as you are all aware, one of the reasons for this dinner was to discuss formalizing my engagement with Nikession.

Falmar Amathalis: smiles.

Lamont: looks to Nik with a fond but nervous smile, before looking around at the adults, landing finally on Thurston

Thurston Allard: smiles indulgently

Yes, I suppose we might as well address the matter at hand.

Mikethelas Amathalis: watches Thurston.

Nik: smiles back, a bit nervous as well, but trying to be reassuring

Thurston Allard: You are quite young, and your beaux even younger by the standards of his people. You've also both had a lot of upheval recently, up to and including near death experiences, which do not always make for lasting matches. But I cannot deny that you two are well suited personally and politically. I would have to insist on a longer engagement to give you two time to be certain, but you have my blessing if the Curiate approves.

Mikethelas Amathalis: makes a moment of looking to his wife before answering, though clearly he's already prepared.

Mikethelas Amathalis: We think you're both very well-suited, and I'm sure you will make a wonderful husband for our son. We couldn't be prouder to have you as part of our family.

Lamont: Thank you. I appreciate your kindness in saying so.

Lamont: says to Mikethelas, and then turns to his uncle

Nik: smiles, nudging Lamont's foot under the table in excitement

Lamont: And thank you also for your permission, though I assure you, there is no question as to our certainty.

Lamont: smiles back at Nik

Nik: Yes, thank you.

Thurston Allard: Humor a cautious old man, then. I almost married once, to someone I had thought sure of. Had I acted on those false certainties, it likely would have been a disaster

Lamont: I have no question as to our future happiness together, let alone our suitability

Lamont: BUt of course, I understand your hesitation.

Lamont: manages to say not compltely cooly to his uncle

Mikethelas Amathalis:

I have no question as to our future happiness together, let alone our suitability

@Lamont - jump

I don't think there's anything to worry about. You've been a good friend to Nikession, and he is, if he'll forgive his father saying so, completely smitten.

Falmar Amathalis: swats Mik's arm affectionately.

Nik: blushes

Falmar Amathalis: You'll embarrass him, dear.

Lamont: blushes slightly also, looking to Nik

Lamont: It is quite a mutual feeling

Nik: Well, I am! It's quite true.

Lamont: offers Nik his hand

Falmar Amathalis: smiles at them fondly.

Nik: takes it

Josh: (Psst, it's early summer right now in-game 😉 )

Josh: (Shall we say Autumn, maybe?)

Chitara: (Yep, sorry)

Thurston Allard: Perhaps a late autumn wedding then, as a compromise? A few months is not so long to wait

Mikethelas Amathalis: looks to Lamont and Nik.

Lamont: IN principle, that is agreeable. However, the war office may have other plans.

Mikethelas Amathalis: There has been escalation in the south.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: Indeed.

Mikethelas Amathalis: Well, I've given up the idea that I have much control over this, so, if you'd prefer to have things settled before any deployment, you have our blessing.

Nik: I suppose if it must be later, that's fine, but of course I would rather prefer sooner...

Lamont: just looks to see if Thurston will cave on this or not

Thurston Allard: genuinely seems to have not considered that

I see your point, but I must insist. Rushing into marriage because of an impending deployment is romantic in books, but in real life less so. If the war office sends you somewhere, you may marry your young man wherever they send you or on your first leave.

Lamont: We can make that work.

Lamont: says, squeezing Nik's hand

Nik: nods

Falmar Amathalis: smiles, and Mikethelas nods.

Lamont: Thank you.

Thurston Allard: smiles and nods

I have no intention of standing in the way of your happiness

Leonara and Yadda Discuss Her Future Prospects

Leonora: has invited Yadda over for breakfast at our Inglenook apartments.

Yadda: will arrive promptly at the appointed time.

Leonora: Yadda, dear, how good to see you!

Leonora: embraces you warmly.

Yadda: will hug Leonora gently.

Yadda: Very well, thank you, aunt. Although, I must confess it has been somewhat less exciting since we returned from the spa.

Leonora: Well, I would hope so! Therma Alba is not normally such vigorous exercise.

Yadda: Well, I don't know if | would want to do it again, but it was interesting to actually put some of my training to use for once.

Leonora: I know that the Amathalis family was very grateful for all our help in the defense of the baths.

Yadda: I am sorry that their resort became the place of such an incident. Was anything ever found about the cause of the violence?

Leonora: Well, a little more, yes. It appears that the demons and cultists knew some of the high-value targets who would be there. It was not random, in other words.

Leonora: But more than that ... well, there is an investigation ongoing. I should not say too much more.

Yadda: I understand.

Leonora: So ... the season is almost done. And I would not be doing my duty if I did not guide you along the way from time to time.

Leonora: I'm presuming that you have not secretly been arranging your own marriage behind the scenes?

Leonora: says in what you hope is a joking tone.

Yadda: smiles.

Yadda: No, I can't say that I have, but it has been more interesting of a season than I had thought at first.

Leonora: Well, as you know, bringing you here this year wasn't about making a match. I think it's been a tremendous success, really.

Leonora: Now, I imagine your grandfather would not have been opposed to a union this year. So my first piece of advice to you is that we should come up with something that sounds vaguely promising for next year, without committing ourselves to anything. For the old man, you understand.

Yadda: Hmm, did you have something in mind?

Leonora: Well, I wanted to ask you. It could be as simple as, you met some female friends who have eligible brothers.

Leonora: You don't want to say anything about some man who might actually be betrothed in the next months. That would suggest to Hruggek that we failed.

Yadda: I see... I think.

Yadda: So nothing too specific, then.

Leonora: Right. I can have Nerea make you a list. She's very good at that.

Yadda: nods.

Leonora: Just names of families where you met one member at an event here.

Leonora: She may bombard you with detail, but the family won't care about all that too much.

Leonora: What they want to hear is that goblin races are treated with respect and dignity, and that you personally are as well, at the season.

Leonora: If they hear otherwise... well, I don't need to explain how that would be bad.

Yadda: Well, that shouldn't be too hard. Everyone has been most welcoming.

Yadda: More so than I expected, honestly

Leonora: I don't know for certain whether I'll be here next year. I may, or I may be back in Nachtur.

Yadda: Will I be expected to come back... alone?

Yadda: If you are not here, that is.

Leonora: Most certainly not! You would have an attendant, at least.

Yadda: nods.

Leonora: I have every confidence in you, dear. When your grandfather started out in the streets of Highmark, he faced endless challenges. These are different, but it is what Wengals do.

Leonora: And someday, perhaps you will be helping my son or daughter as they come out for their first season.

Yadda: smiles at that.

Yadda: I still don't know about making this place my home, but I suppose another season wouldn't kill me.

Leonora: The season doesn't kill people. Demons do.

Yadda: sighs.

Yadda: Demons I can handle.

Yadda: Social events are a higher level encounter, so to speak.

Yadda: I assume my friends Grega and Loriel will be pestering me for details on my time here when I get back. At least I have some good stories to tell them.

Leonora: Perhaps one of them will join you next year.

Leonora: That could be wonderful, especially if they're less attractive than you.

Leonora: says, deadpan.

Yadda: laughs.

Yadda: I suppose that depends on one's tastes.

Yadda: But perhaps I can arrange it when I'm home.

Yadda: speaking of which.... I don't suppose you've heard anything about whether Leid Vilyawen has made a match this season?

Leonora: I haven't ... but I would be surprised if they did. Why?

Yadda: shrugs.

Yadda: Just pondering my plan of attack for next season.

Leonora: That's the attitude. It is a military operation, and the stakes are potentially even greater.

Yadda: Well, the best defense is a good offense, I suppose.

Leonora: Speaking of which, it will behoove you to keep abreast of the latest fashions. Were you happy with your dressmaker this year? We can find another.

Yadda: They were serviceable, but I did have to go back a few times to have them let out in the shoulders. And the one I wore to the spa obviously did not survive well at all. Perhaps in the future I should make sure to have them made with room for a weapon of some sort and more room to move. Just in case.

Leonora: laughs.

Leonora: Well, your grandfather and uncle would approve of that, certainly.

Leonora: Although there is some value in ... conformity, I suppose you would say ... it is also important to highlight your own values and personality.

Leonora: After all, a marriage entered into under false pretenses is hardly likely to survive.

Yadda: That's the strange part. It seems like there is so much deception around all of this. All the pageantry and social fascades. It's like everyone has collectively decided to make it as difficult on each other as possible when the goal should be to get to know one another honestly.

Leonora: nods.

Leonora: Honesty is in short supply among the elite of Highmark, I'm afraid.

Leonora: That's unlikely to change.

Yadda: Mmmm...

Yadda: Well, I suppose I'll have to manage. Thank you and uncle Magga for helping me navigate this. I really do appreciate it.

Leonora: Magga's been glad to have you here. If only because it's made me so happy to be here for you as well.

Yadda: smiles

Yadda: gives her aunt another hug

Lavinia and Katherina Go Wedding Shopping

Lavinia: will recruit Katherina for a shopping trip and borrow the carriage from their mother for the purpose.

Katherina: Are we shopping for your engagement party? Announcements? Portraits? Looking for wedding ideas? What's the goal? :D

Lavinia: Oh, all of them at once, I suppose! We don't have a lot of time honestly. I don't know what we were thinking asking for a midsummer wedding!

Lavinia: It sounded like a good idea at the time!

Katherina: Oh no, see, now we can make sure everything is nicely themed running up to your dress reveal ^-^

Lavinia: Well, I need a dress first!

Katherina: Yes, but that's what I mean! If we find something I like then you can put little hints of what's to come in the other ensembles, like colors or lace or prints or what have you :D What color dress do you want for your wedding? Have you discussed it with mother?

Lavinia: Well, white is traditional, but... it's so boooring. I think I want something more colorful. Mother has left the details to me for the most part. I think she's just happy to have me engaged again.

Katherina: Well your groom is very red - so something that would look pretty with that?

Katherina: Do you think it could be arranged for him to show some of his tattoos? Hmmmm...

Katherina: Your guests need to be appropriately jealous ;)

Lavinia: Ooooh... If I know Gueiris, he could probably be persuaded.

Lavinia: He is quite daring

Katherina: Oh yes I was thinking more of mother. And you, I'm so glad you would even consider it!  :D

Lavinia: Hmmm... I suppose I wouldn't have considered it a few months ago, would I?

Katherina: No! And I'm so happy! This has done you so much good - you are thinking about what you want and what makes you happy instead of just accepting whatever mother and everyone else says. Even at the beginning of the season you were just resigned to everything, and now I hardly feel I need to worry about you at all :3

Lavinia: laughs.

Katherina: Have you decided where you will live? Wil you be staying in Highmark?

Lavinia: Surely I haven't changed that much have I? I suppose nearly being eaten has a way of focusing ones attention.

Lavinia: We want to travel. Gueiris will be moving around with his position and I will go with him. At least for now. Eventually we will settle down somewhere, but we're not really sure yet. It's really quite freeing.

Lavinia: And don't worry about me, Kitty. I'm more worried about you being left alone with mother!

Katherina: laughs

Katherina: I think you should worry for mother being left alone with me ;)

Lavinia: I can do both.

Katherina: You've always been the well behaved one.

Lavinia: Well, I won't argue with that, although you have always been the more fun one 😉

Lavinia: Have I ever told you how much I admire you Kitty? You've always had a bravery and a lightheartedness that I could never really match.

Lavinia: But then, you've never killed a demon, so I suppose now we're even.

Katherina: well, I never had a chance! And to my credit, I also didn't kill an Aethrenari prince, which I think shows quite a bit of uncharacteristic restraint. So perhaps we're falling into balance ^-^

Lavinia: laughs

Lavinia: I think they call that growing up.

Katherina: Yuck! Dull.  ;)

Katherina: I have plans to remain a much more interesting person.

Lavinia: Well, we'll see about that.

Lavinia: 😉

Lavinia: Oh! I believe that's Madam Bellweather's dress shop ahead.

Katherina: Is that where we are headed, then?

Lavinia: For a start. She's one of the few in this part of town who specializes in halfling dresses. We can at least look at some samples.

Lavinia: will signal to the coach driver to let them off and leadKatherina into the shop where they can browse the dresses.

Katherina: Of course!

Leonora Corners Thurston

Leonora: will have written ahead to plan her visit for a day when Thurston is likely to be alone (except for his staff of course)

Thurston Allard: is often alone now that Lamont has moved out, he tends not to Entertain at home, so this is pretty easy

Leonora: will arrive, dressed in a long green dress and her pearls, nothing to suggest that she is here on Business.

Leonora: Mr. Allard, it's a pleasure to see you once again.

Thurston Allard: It is delightful to see you, Lady Wengal. To what do I owe the pleasure?

Leonora: smiles.

Leonora: Well, I wanted to talk about Therma Alba. If you have a few minutes.

Thurston Allard: Seems confused but not worried right now

Of course, yeah, It was a horrific attack, I'm very grateful that my nephew and my soon to be inlaws were not seriously harmed

Leonora: Oh, what wonderful news! Your family and the Amathalis must be overjoyed!

Leonora: Lord Evenor is a fine young man. And his father is very sensible. I had a long discussion with him in the aftermath of the attack.

Thurston Allard: Oh, were you a guest at the time as well? I was unaware you were acquainted with the Amathalises

Leonora: Of course! I grew up in Thantopolis, and much of my family is still there. My family has long been friends with them, although young Nikession, I only met this year.

Leonora: And yes, my husband and I were guests at the time of the attack. We saw much, and learned much.

Thurston Allard: Do you mean to imply you have an idea of how that attack came to be? I would be delighted to hear anything you are at liberty to share.

Leonora: Hmm.

Leonora: Do you know Fyan Sir Akan Sinan Nabari?

Thurston Allard: Passingly? We have met but not much more than that. I had heard that he was there at the time of the incident.

Leonora: Yes. In the aftermath of the event, he has come to believe that he was a target of the cultists. One of several, it seems.

Leonora: But needless to say, Nabari is not a man to be trifled with. He is older, but that has simply given him more fire in his heart to root out the perpetrators and anyone who would interfere with them.

Thurston Allard: I imagine so. I've heard he's a fierce combatant. I would never want to make an enemy of Fyan Nabari, personally. I almost pity anyone who did.

Leonora: Hmm, yes.

Leonora: You see, there's just one thing that is bothering him more than anything else.

Leonora: Amidst the belongings of one of the cultists was found a letter, an encrypted letter in fact, describing the targets of the attack. As he puts it, it was in a cipher that is one of ours. That is, an old Sentinel house cipher.

Thurston Allard: Thurston's eyes go wide in horror

Have you seen it? I'm afraid.. well, I may have spoken more than I should have in a letter. Is that why your here?

Leonora: What do you mean?

Leonora: Are you saying you wrote a letter?

Thurston Allard: nods, clearly ashamed and embarrassed

I did, yes. I had thought that I could trust its recipient, but even so it might have gotten lost or stolen.

Leonora: Who was the recipient?

Thurston Allard: An old friend in Thanatopolis. (insert random NPC name here). We went to school together, and I had intended to be bragging on the company my nephew was keeping.

Leonora: Well I'm sure that Nabari has already talked to them. I know he was talking to everyone.

Leonora: Having fought beside him at Therma Alba, I assure you that he's ferocious.

Leonora: When he comes to talk to you, you'll want to be able to answer two things for him. First, why the letter was written in an old Sentinel cipher, or any cipher at all. If it was just a letter boasting about your nephew.

Leonora: But then, you were always a bit odd. Maybe it was just an overabundance of caution.

Leonora: Or maybe you always write your letters to your friend in cipher, a vestige of your childhood friendship when you would write little nonsenses to one another. I'm sure he'll have confirmed that for you.

Thurston Allard: Well, you know me.

Thurston smiles and shrugs

I have always been an overly cautious man. Were I not... things might have been quite different.

Leonora: Of course.

Leonora: The other thing you'll want to be able to answer is why a man you barely know except 'passingly', and who apparently you only heard - somehow - was there at the incident, featured notably in your letter about your nephew, who doesn't even know Nabari. Because I assure you that Nabari is going to ask.

Chitara: hta frowns

I hope you don't seriously think I had anything to do with this.

Leonora: I think your letter gave the cultists information about a number of high-value targets who would be present at a major social event.

Leonora: I think that fact is going to be revealed, publicly, very soon.

Leonora: I also think that the fact that your dear nephew is engaged to marry the son of the hosts of Therma Alba, themselves of unimpeachable conduct, is going to look very, very odd to many people.

Leonora: So you should start thinking of your story, very fast.

Thurston Allard: raises an eyebrow

Why should my nephew's match raise eyebrows? They are a reasonable match.

Leonora: Because the attack caused irreparable damage to his parents' estate, which will one day be his.

Leonora: Perhaps you were trying to put an end to the union before it began? I don't know what society will say, but I assure you it won't be "oh, that poor Mr. Allard, he has had such coincidental misfortune in his vicinity."

Thurston Allard: Am I to understand an official investigation is underway? Or do I have time to salvage my reputation beforehand?

Leonora: There is an investigation underway, yes. Across the intelligence authorities of Thantopolis, Nachtur, Highmark, and possibly others.

Leonora: As you know, the Sentinels are not going to take such a breach lightly. Even if they believe that it was accidental.

Leonora: Honestly Nabari may not care. He's spent his life killing demons and cultists ... and their allies.

Thurston Allard: pales a bit

Surely he would not be so unreasonable as to attack someone extrajudicially

Leonora: I believe the new six-inch scar on his abdomen has given him a refreshed view of extrajudicial action.

Leonora: How adept are you at crying for mercy upon demand, Mr. Allard? Good? Or ... not so much?

Thurston Allard: If you will excuse me, you've given me much to think about and do, I do not think now is the time to continue entertaining a guest.

Leonora: Of course. Oh, I almost forgot. There is a third question you should be asking.

Leonora: That is: having had a conversation with a woman who is publicly well-known to have a dragonmark that ensures the secrecy of conversations from scrying.

Leonora: Why would she have such a sensitive conversation with you and not invoke her dragonmark? Which I assure you, I have not.

Leonora: Just something to ponder, Mr. Allard.

Leonora: I do hope our conversation has not been overheard.

Thurston Allard: frowns As much as I have enjoyed the chance to see an old... friend, I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with the manners you have picked up in your new home. Good day, Lady Wengal. The servants will see you out

Leonora: Good luck, Thurston.

Leonora: heads out.

Thurston Allard: rushes out, fuming

Nik and Lamont Go to Coifárë For Help After The Riot

Nik: holds onto Lamont in the carriage and tries to see how injured he is, once we are out of immediate danger

Nik: Lamont? can you hear me? stay awake, okay? stay with me...

Lamont: takes a gasping breath

Nik: is trying very hard not to panic, and puts his hands on Lamont's wounds to try and stop the bleeding.

Lamont: winces but doesn't move away

Lamont: N....nik

Nik: please... I can't stop it by myself... gods, please let him be okay, that's all I ask....

Nik: is startled when that actually seems to do something, his touch briefly filling with divine power and Lamont's injuries healing.

Nik: oh!

Nik: Lamont? are you okay?

Lamont: relaxes slightly

Lamont: oooh...

Lamont: tries to sit up, but winces, lyin back down in Nik's lap

Lamont: I'm alright

Nik: just stay still, I'm going to take you to Coifare, they can help you...

Lamont: I'm an idiot - I'm so sorry

Nik: no, no, it's not your fault

Nik: you couldn't have known something like that would happen

Lamont: that's not true

Nik: shh. we're safe now, and it's going to be okay.

Lamont: nods

Nik: will look out for where this place Coifare was going to be staying should be located, hoping the driver has some idea because he's really not that familiar with the city.

Josh: (I'm gonna say it's the same place as the party they took the boys to way back in the second session.)

Lamont: what did you do?  ?

Nik: I don't really know... I just asked for help.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: Thank you

Nik: did it help? 😮

Lamont: smiles up at Nik, still lying in his lap

Lamont: it did

Lamont: and you got me out of there... somehow

Nik: I just grabbed you and pulled you back into the carriage... I don't know how I had the strength, really.

Lamont: My hero

Lamont: smiles, but closes his eyes again

Nik: is flustered but smiles back and strokes Lamont's hair to try to help him relax

Josh: A young half-elven woman with tousled curly hair, perhaps somewhat familiar to you, answers the door.

Silima: Oh my gods! Are you all right?

Nik: Um, somewhat? Is Coifare here?

Lamont: (Am I with you or still in the carriage?)

Nik: (I'd bring you with me, assuming you can walk)

Lamont: (okay)

Lamont: is holding it together but does look a little concerningly bloody and pale and a but beat to shit in general

Silima: Yes, they're...sorry, come in, come in.

Lamont: ...Apologies for the intrusion

Silima: Coifare!

Silima: Do you need to sit, or lay down or...?

Lamont: oh...

Coifárë: comes into the room wearing a robe, then immediately looks horrified.

Coifárë: Lamont!

Coifárë: rushes over to help him.

Lamont: I'm alright

Coifárë: What happened? Nik, are you okay?

Nik: I'm fine, Lamont is hurt... I think...?

Lamont: nods

Coifárë: Come on, sit down. Lamont, what happened to you?

Lamont: There's riots

Coifárë: Riots? Where? Over what?

Coifárë: gets Lamont sitting down and begins looking him over.

Coifárë: Did you already get some healing?

Lamont: Some...

Lamont: looks at Nik

Lamont: touches his shirt where there is a lot of blood but not currently an open wound

Nik: I... I'm not sure what happened. I didn't know what else to do so I put my hands where he was bleeding, thinking maybe I could stop it if I applied pressure, but ... I asked for help from the gods, and maybe it worked?

Nik: is still shaken up

Coifárë: Nik...either your dragonmark is showing new abilities, or someone answered your prayers.

Coifárë: I'll just finish the job.

Nik: please

Lamont: (actually I'm gonna say he lost his coat at some point during all this, heh)

Coifárë: will place their hands on Lamont and there is a soothing release as the wounds knit back together and heal.

Lamont: takes a deep and easy breath

Lamont: Thank you.

Coifárë: Of course.

Coifárë: will touch their forehead to Lamont's for a moment.

Lamont: smiles at that

Coifárë: Well, that was a dramatic way to begin my day.

Lamont: Apologies, truly

Coifárë: (to Nik) I take it he was trying to be heroic?

Lamont: says to them and to our host

Lamont: (WAS THAT IN eLDUAR? :v)

Lamont: (cl but lol)

Silima: Luckily, I can say this is a first, but I'm glad you're all right.

Josh: (Nope, that was in common 😉 )

Nik: I'm not really sure exactly what happened... it seemed very sudden to me.

Nik: I didn't even make it out of the carriage, perhaps Lamont had a better view of the scene?

Lamont: tries to make himself look a little mor presentable, but this is somewhat of a challenge

Coifárë: What was going on?

Silima: Was it...near here?

Lamont: looks to Nik

Silima: says in a worried voice.

Nik: near the city museum...

Lamont: Ostensibly, it was a rally for inclusions of the Akasic states, but there were agitators in the crowd who pushed them towards violence.

Coifárë: frowns.

Coifárë: That's not good...

Coifárë: Above and beyond all this, of course.

Coifárë: You truly have to stop getting into these sorts of situations, at least within friendly cities, at least.

Lamont: glances at Silima

Lamont: I agree

Lamont: I would rather like it to stop.

Lamont: rubs his temples

Silima: gives Lamont an unsure smile.

Silima: Can I get you some water or anything?

Lamont: Thank you, I would be very grateful

Silima: will go do that.

Coifárë: Thank the gods I was here.

Coifárë: I mean, Nik stabilized things, but still.

Coifárë: goes to hug Nik comfortingly.

Lamont: I should have known

Coifárë: Known what?

Lamont: I've had a headache since the... engagement dinner and it' only beet getting worse,

Lamont: Ughhh, I sound like... a mad person

Nik: you think he had something to do with this?

Nik: asks, being a bit cautious with his word choice since he doesn't know Silima well

Coifárë: My first instinct is to say this seems a bit much, but, considering the attack at Therma Alba...

Lamont: (Did we tell coifare about that? I suppose we coudl have done it off screen either way :x)

Josh: (Yeah, we can assume so.)

Lamont: I think so? for it ti happen then, there, with people place to cause serious escalation....

Lamont: I've been in anything like that before, though... most of the crowd didn't know what they meant to do until they were in the midst of it.

Coifárë: frowns.

Silima: You're welcome to wait here for the time being, if you like.

Silima: says, coming back with water for Lamont.

Lamont: oh, thank you.

Lamont: will take that and drink immediately

Silima: I can give you all some privacy if you need it...

Nik: yes, thank you - sorry to put you to this trouble

Coifárë: steps over to kiss Silima on the cheek.

Coifárë: (elduar) You're a sweetheart.

Silima: smiles, gives Lamont a worried look, and begins walking into the next room.

Silima: I should get dressed for real anyway.

Coifárë: What do you want to do?

Lamont: I'm not suree. I expect I should... report something... somewhere...

Coifárë: Your cousin, maybe? Marchioness Lownmont?

Lamont: nods

Lamont: yes, that woudl make sense

Lamont: I'm sure there's been a response mounted already

Coifárë: I would imagine. So your responsibility is to take your suspicions to Lownmont, right?

Nik: do you want me to go with you?

Lamont: looks down at his bloody cloothing

Lamont: Yes. A witness will be useful....

Nik: nods

Coifárë: Would it look untoward if I went with you both?

Lamont: well. Surely you're just another kind of witness, since you healed me...

Coifárë: nods.

Coifárë: I'd just prefer to help make sure you get wherever you're going all right.

Lamont: I'd be grateful for your company, if you don't mind leaving your companion...

Coifárë: steps forward and places a kiss on top of Lamont's head.

Coifárë: Admittedly not how I meant to be spending my day, but this is my top priority.

Lamont: smiles

Coifárë: straightens up and crosses to Nik to squeeze his hand.

Coifárë: I should also get dressed.

Lamont: nods

Nik: we can wait in the carriage for you if you want some privacy

Lamont: yes.... I'd liek to sit without... ruining someone else's furniture -_-

Coifárë: Oh, right. Stand up real quick.

Coifárë: There's no reason not to clean you up, right?

Lamont: I don't think so

Lamont: There's plenty of blood still in the carriage if anyone insists on seeing it -_-

Coifárë: nods, then waves their hand and utters a spell in elduar. The blood disappears from Lamont's clothes.

Lamont: Thank you

Lamont: again

Lamont: smiles

Nik: yes, thank you

Coifárë: I'm sorry for the necessity, but always happy to help. I'm glad you're both safe; let's keep it that way, shall we?

Coifárë: (to Nik, in Elduar, with a concerned look) Are you all right?

Nik: (in elduar) Yes, just shaken. I'll be all right, I just wish such things would stop happening...

Coifárë: (elduar) Gods-willing, it will soon.

Lamont: waits for them to have their lil private side convo -_-

Coifárë: kisses Nik on the cheek and hugs him again, then goes to get dressed.

Lamont: will sit and hold Nik's hand while we wait

Nik: we weren't talking about you or anything... Coifare just wanted to know if I was okay.

Nik: says quietly

Lamont: I know.

Nik: squeezes your hand

Lamont: They want to make sure you feel cared for

Nik: nods

Lamont: I don't really mind.

Nik: I just don't want you to feel left out. I could teach you to speak it if you wanted... but I know there's so many other things going on right now.

Lamont: smiles

Lamont: We'll have time

Lamont: We will.

Lamont: squeezes his hand back

Nik: smiles a little bleakly

Nik: (presumably then once Coifare is ready we can go see Zanne?)

Josh: (nod)

Gueiris Checks In on Lavinia After The Riot

Gueiris: comes riding up the Orsino residence in the early evening. He is wearing a dark jacket with definite some dirt and debris on it, and a sash with Highmark heraldry which he removes as dismounts.

Lavinia: will run down to the front door and open it for him as he comes up to the porch.

Lavinia: Gueiris! We saw some of the rioters go by earlier and we've been watching the street! I'm so glad to see you!

Lavinia: is in a white house dress and clutches a frying pan in her hand.

Gueiris: is trying to wipe clean his jacket

Gueiris: I so happy you weren't caught up in that. Nothing came this way?

Lavinia: Just a few groups chanting slogans with torches. They seemed to be on their way to Skyline.

Lavinia: They didn't seem interested in us.

Lavinia: will throw her arms around gueiris' waist.

Gueiris: They are dispersed now, so the frying pan is not required.

Gueiris: hugs her back

Lavinia: Oh! Yes, of course...

Lavinia: will put the frying pan down on a table inside the door when she lets go of Gueiris.

Lavinia: Please, come in. Can I get you anything?

Gueiris: Thank you. Something to drink would be greatly appreciated. With a little kick, if possible. The last few hours have been unenjoyable.

Lavinia: Of course.

Lavinia: will ask one of the servants to bring some dwarven rum for him.

Lavinia: So you were there?

Gueiris: I was called in after things started to help get the situation under control. Some people got hurt bad by the rioters, although I hadn't heard much of the specifics.

Gueiris: It mostly just took a show of force to get the crowd to disperse.

Lavinia: Are you ok? You're not injured, are you?

Gueiris: sips the rum appreciatively

Gueiris: I am fine, if not a little more disheveled than I would prefer to be in front of you. The rioters should appreciate the fact that they did not injure someone like myself.

Gueiris: And I am truly happy that you nor your family suffered anything more than worry.

Lavinia: Thank you for coming to check on us. Thankfully nothing seems to have spread this far east.

Lavinia: I assure you, if they had tried to get in here they would have been in for a challenge. Between my frying pan and mother's yelling.

Gueiris: chuckles

Gueiris: or you could subdue them with pastries

Lavinia: Well, I like to think I would save that contingency for emergencies only.

Lavinia: smiles.

Lavinia: I am glad that you are ok as well. I had worried that you might be sent to deal with it.

Gueiris: I still have my families obligations to support Highmark guard in times of need. That will remain whenever I am in the city.

Lavinia: I suppose I shall have to get used to worrying. Fortunately, I have lots of practice.

Gueiris: I would not ask you to not worry, for I would worry if our roles were reversed. Just trust in my abilities, and my desire to always come back to you, to see me safely through.

Lavinia: I do.

Lavinia: takes Gueiris' hand.

Lavinia: I have seen your abilities and your desires. I know how formidable they both are.

Gueiris: Well... I'm...

Gueiris: flusters

Gueiris: I do love you.

Lavinia: I... I love you too.

Lavinia: seems equally flustered now.

Gueiris: Did you want some rum?

Lavinia: clears her hroat and nods.

Lavinia: Yes. Please.

Gueiris: gets her a small snifter

Lavinia: Kitty and I went shopping for wedding things today. I still can't believe it's actually happening.

Gueiris: That's great! I'm sure you will look outstanding in what you chose. It has frills and poofs out like this right?

Gueiris: makes a gesture that has his arms wider than Lavinia is tall

Lavinia: As if I would be caught dead in anything without frills and poofs!

Lavinia: Have you put any thought into what you will wear? My sister has suggested something to show off your tattoos. She seems to think I should try to make everyone else jealous. I don't think I'll have to try, honestly.

Gueiris: While I would happily consider any suggestion, as such ceremonies are not my expertise, I feel it may be hard to be respectable, at least for the ceremony without a proper jacket on.

Gueiris: Afterward... I could always claim I was hot?

Lavinia: Well, that is certainly true.

Lavinia: smiles mischeivously.

Gueiris: and what have you been telling your sister about my tattoos?

Lavinia: blushes.

Lavinia: Oh... I... I mean...

Lavinia: ...nothing.

Gueiris: so that much eh?

Lavinia: takes a sip of her rum.

Lavinia: I... have no idea what you're talking about.

Gueiris: Well I do hope she likes me, and has gotten over that messed up confusion from before.

Lavinia: She wants me to be happy. She seems content that you make me so.

Lavinia: I've explained the circumstances of the... incident to her.

Gueiris: I'm glad that is sorted.

Gueiris: Thank you for the rum... but I really should not be staying long, as this is quite impromptu, and might be a little inappropriate.

Gueiris: I just need to make sure you all were safe.

Lavinia: nods.

Lavinia: Of course. Thank you for coming.

Lavinia: I... I'm glad you did.

Gueiris: takes a quick glance around, and will lean in to kiss her

Lavinia: will sigh and lean into him.

Lavinia: Mmmm...

Lavinia: You should go before we truly do disgrace ourselves.

Gueiris: Yes... yes... we do want this wedding to go off without complications.

Gueiris: I will see you soon?

Lavinia: Yes, of course. I have some very exciting cloth and flower samples for you to look through.

Lavinia: Not to mention the invitations.

Gueiris: I look forward to it.

Lavinia: smiles.

Gueiris: downs the last of the rum, and will slip out the door

Lavinia: will watch him from the doorway as he rides off.

Rosalie and Juno Visit the Museum

Juno Morticia Auspex: will arrive at the museum early to wait for everyone.

Rosalie: will arrive shortly before Lamont is scheduled to arrive and wait with Juno

Rosalie: checks the time

The marquess must be running late.

Juno Morticia Auspex: That's unlike him, isn't it?

Rosalie: nods

I would think so. He must have been delayed by something.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, present company is just fine with me.

Josh: (Was there a specific like exhibit or anything we were all coming to see?)

Rosalie: (Just some new exhibit, I can't remember what it was originally.)

Lamont: (I don't think we specified, heh)

Juno Morticia Auspex: Truth be told, I don't know the first thing about...any of this. Art was not much a part of my upbringing.

Rosalie: Oh, I am not so learned in art, either. I am mostly here for the historical bits and bobs they have on display.

Rosalie: But the great thing about art is that you don't need extensive education to admire it. says brightly, then blushes a little and loops her arm through Juno's

Shall we?

Juno Morticia Auspex: smiles.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Absolutely.

Juno Morticia Auspex: is happy to stroll along with Rosalie and admire the exhibits.

Rosalie: Stillmarch said the private tour should begin not too long from now, we just have to meet the curator. I wonder if we'll still be able to see the collection without him here.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, even without Stillmarch here, you're still a Doumens. I'm sure plenty of this came from your family as well. 😉

Rosalie: Oh, well, yes, some. When Father passed away, I was appointed executor, which was really quite the to-do since I wasn't of an age yet. Anyway, we had quite an extensive art collection just sitting in a gallery in the house, so I donated the lot.

Rosalie: Seb and I used the gallery for fencing practice after that. grins

Juno Morticia Auspex: laughs.

Juno Morticia Auspex: That's more like my upbringing. The Auspexes are a military family, through and through.

Rosalie: laughs

Well, I wouldn't say we are military, really. We dabble in many things. Were expectations high for you to join as well?

Juno Morticia Auspex: Expectation might be underselling it. It was assumed I'd serve, particularly after it became apparent I had a talent for necromancy.

Rosalie: Did you...ever want to be anything else?

Juno Morticia Auspex: Would you think me unimaginative if I said no?

Rosalie: No, not at all. I would envy you, maybe.

Rosalie: To know your path and walk it so assuredly is a wonderful thing. I sometimes wish I had the same confidence in my path.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Your path isn't set. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Rosalie: This is true. Perhaps I just wish for opportunities that appealed to me more.

Rosalie: In any case, the collection we donated should be in the East wing.

Rosalie: There are some silly things there. Apparently, a relative of mine must have loved boats, they devoted a lot of energy into buying as many pieces with boats in them as possible.

Josh: Rosalie, you have to do a double-take, but you see your mother at the end of the gallery, talking to a shadar-kai man.

Rosalie: Even some pottery with little naval scenes....trails off, staring into the distance

Juno Morticia Auspex: Are you all right?

Juno Morticia Auspex: gives Rose a concerned look.

Rosalie: Uh, yes. My mother is here.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Oh! Were you...expecting her?

Rosalie: looks a little flustered and begins straightening her appearance

Rosalie: I wasn't. We have not seen each other for some time.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Should we go say hello? Or I can wait if you want to speak to her yourself?

Rosalie: Oh, yes. I mean, no. I mean, yes, let's go say hello. Together, that is.

Juno Morticia Auspex: squeezes Rosalie's hand reassuringly.

Rosalie: gives a small, stressed smile and leads the way to her mother

Rosalie: (Name of the shadar-kai?)

Josh: (Emlyn Rhydderch)

Rosalie: reaches her mother and the man

Mother, hello. I did not know you were in town.

Inga Doumens: Rosie, dear, I didn't expect to see you here. I was going to come by the house later today.

Rosalie: Oh, well, what providence then! Mother, may I introduce you to my...to Magus Juno Auspex. Juno, this is my mother, LadyInga Doumens.

Juno Morticia Auspex: It's an honor and a pleasure to meet you, Lady Doumens.

Inga Doumens: Yes, wonderful to meet any friend of my daughter's, magus. I would introduce you to my friend, but he was just taking his leave, and he doesn't speak Nerathi.

Inga Doumens: says something to her companion, who nods and makes an apologetic face, then turns to go.

Rosalie: I did not know you were coming to town soon. Was it an unexpected trip?

Inga Doumens: Well, you know me, dear, I don't tend to plan very far ahead.

Inga Doumens: (to Juno) Luckily, she doesn't take after me.

Rosalie: nods

I am unlike you and Father in this particular way. But I am glad to see you, nonetheless.

Rosalie: Sébastien will be glad, as well. And you must meet his new fiancé while you are in town.

Inga Doumens: Apparently I'm behind on my correspondence. A fiancé, you say? I'm delighted. And yourself?

Inga Doumens: gives Juno a glance, which is answered with a blush.

Rosalie: gives a quick glance to Juno, as well, and blushes

Oh, well, no, I am not engaged, yet. Sébastien only just proposed on Founder's Day.

Inga Doumens: Oh, so I haven't missed too much of it, and I can still play the overbearing mother-in-law-to-be.

Rosalie: laughs lightly

You may certainly give it a shot, but I think you'll find his fiancé up to the task.

Inga Doumens: Challenges can be fun.

Inga Doumens: Speaking of fun, I should leave you to yours, but I'll see you this evening?

Rosalie: nods

Of course. I shall make sure Sébastien stays home from his club, as well.

Inga Doumens: Excellent, there's my good girl. I'll leave you two to your...stroll.

Inga Doumens: gives Rosie a kiss on the cheek, and an encouraging smile to Juno.

Rosalie: will wait until her mother has left, then let out a sigh

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, she seems...fun?

Rosalie: lets out a startled laugh

Rosalie: Yes, you might say. I think sometimes I am the apple that rolled very far from my family tree.

Juno Morticia Auspex: gives a bemused smile.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Well, I think you're fun. 😉

Rosalie: grins

For you, I can be very fun.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Then I say we make the most of our visit, hmm? Fortify you for dealing with your mother later?

Rosalie: sighs again and leans slightly into Juno's side

I do believe you are a miracle.

Rosalie: Let's go see how many boats we can find.

Juno Morticia Auspex: Aye, captain.

Chitara Apologizes To Lamont

Chitara: Chitara has been kept fairly busy dealing with the fallout of people being attacked in the name of their cause, but a couple days after, Chitara calls at his new place

Lamont: will come down and meet her in the parlor

Lamont: miss Kitus, good afternoon

Lamont: Would you care for some tea or coffee?

Chitara: smiles in obvious relief that he's up and about

I would love some tea, thank you. I'm so glad to see you're well.

Lamont: Oh, I'm quite well, thank you

Lamont: says, sounding slightly puzzeled

Lamont: ...oh, have you been talking to Nik?

Chitara: smiles wryly

Well, yes, but I likely would've heard anyway unless it was a complete secret. We've been doing damage control

Lamont: I didn't realize the news had travelled very far, but in any case, I am fine, and I don't hold your cause accountable in any case.

Chitara: I am glad to hear it but I do still feel somewhat responsible.

Lamont: Please, you're really not.

Lamont: (A servant will come in with a tray of tea and some little nibbles an serve)

Lamont: The matter is under investigation, I'm sure anything relevant will be relayed to you.

Lamont: was it a planned rally?

Chitara: It was not. We had no word anyone was going to be doing anything that morning until there were injuries.

makes a face

Its honestly pretty bizarre

Lamont: nods

Chitara: At least it seems everyone injured has been seen to and no lasting harm was done

Lamont: yes, the response was pretty quick, I understand..

Lamont: I'm lucky Nik got me out of there quickly

Lamont: says with a fond smile

Chitara: Yeah, that was some seriously quick thinking on his part. Honestly, I'm impressed.

Lamont: I regret that he's been exposed to so many crises while in my presence, but I have been grateful to have him nonetheless

Lamont: Did he tell you our news?

Chitara: He did! I'm happy for you both. He's a wonderful guy, he deserves someone who'll make him as happy as you do

Lamont: Thank you. He is wonderful, more than I deserve, but I will do my best for him.

Chitara: shrugs and finally picks up her cup of tea

You'll have to forgive me for trusting his judgement over yours on the matter

Lamont: No, I think that's entirely fair.

Chitara: smiles

He's a good judge of character

Lamont: Well, as I said, I will try to live up to his assessment.

Nik Talks To Callisto About His Future Career

Nik: can go and pay a visit to Callisto (who has probably been sending him periodic reminders to talk to her ;)

Callisto Vallee: : She has a cluttered desk , trying to find something but making more of a mess :

Nik: I hope this is a good time?

Callisto Vallee: She lets out a squeak at the sudden interruption, sending most of the papers to the floor.

Callisto Vallee: "I...yes...I've been trying to get some one-on-one with you. Come in, come in."

Nik: comes in

Nik: I'm sorry, I've just been so busy lately.

Callisto Vallee: "Does that mean you have a new book or books to submit to me?"

Nik: Oh, not a new book yet, no.... I might have a few new ideas, but it will be a little while before I have the leisure to put them to paper. But I wanted to reassure you that I'm definitely thinking about it!

Callisto Vallee: "What...what else has kept you so busy?"

Nik: Oh, the season, you know, social events... also, well... I have become engaged to Lord Stillmarch :3

Callisto Vallee: "You're...you're getting married?! When?"

Callisto Vallee: "Will this effect your literary work?"

Nik: In the fall, I think? The date is still a little uncertain.

Nik: And, well, I don't know! I'll certainly do my best, but there may be extenuating circumstances that need my attention.

Callisto Vallee: "True, true. I just don't want you to give it up completely. Some of our writers only write because they need the money. I know that's not your situation. But if this marriage is giving you the support you need, let me know now if we need to find someone else to take up the pen name."

Nik: Oh, no, certainly I wouldn't think that is necessary 😮

Nik: I feel like people might be able to tell?

Callisto Vallee: She releases a sigh of relief and leans back in her chair. "That's good to hear."

Callisto Vallee: At Nik's remark she snort/snickers. "You'd be surprised."

Nik: I would?

Callisto Vallee: She scratches the side of her nose. "That'd be telling."

Nik: Oh... I see.

Nik: well, I did just want to let you know that I haven't forgotten you. But that it will still be a little while longer before I have a book to show you.

Callisto Vallee: "Are at least a couple of chapters you can let me read? If for nothing else than to give the appearance you still take this seriously."

Nik: ...

Nik: I wrote my first book for fun, I didn't think I was obliged to take it very seriously. I already said I don't have anything to give you right now, but if you aren't willing to wait, perhaps this isn't the right direction for me to go in.

Callisto Vallee: Callisto stays quiet a moment then slowly nods. "I apologize. I shouldn't be pushing you like this. You'd think after all this time I'd have more patience with writers. But publication world can be cut throat sometimes, and it feels like I'm going under any moment."

Callisto Vallee: "But that doesn't excuse me from pressuring you so much."

Nik: Well, I'm sorry about that. I do want to write another book, but I need a few free moments to do that in. I hope maybe soon I'll have that, though.

Callisto Vallee: "Just keep me in the loop, Nik."

Nik: I'll try to!

Zanne Informs Lamont of His Uncle's Arrest

Zanne Machel: will have sent a carriage for Lamont to summon him to the Machel estate on the Crown.

Lamont: will go when summoned

Lamont: will dress appropriately, etc

Josh: Servants will be waiting for Lamont, and will escort him to an office in the central area of the house. It's small, quite full of books and papers, all of it neatly organized.

Zanne Machel: will be waiting, standing when Lamont is ushered inside.

Zanne Machel: Marquess Stillmarch, thank you for coming. Can I offer you something to eat or drink?

Lamont: a drink, please. Thank you, your grace.

Zanne Machel: nods, and will go to fix Lamont a drink.

Zanne Machel: I understand congratulations are in order.

Lamont: Yes, thank you. We will be releasing a formal public announcement soon.

Zanne Machel: I'm happy to hear it, truly.

Zanne Machel: walks over to hand Lamont his drink.

Lamont: will take it

Zanne Machel: I would like to also offer my apologies.

Lamont: oh?

Zanne Machel: House Machel has been delinquent in its duties to you and your family, cousin, and I hope we can, in future, offer some remuneration for that debt.

Zanne Machel: Our attention was directed elsewhere in the Confederacy, and my father's trust in your uncle allowed his corruption to fester. I offer this solely as explanation, not excuse.

Zanne Machel: To think what it has cost us all...

Lamont: nods and takes a sip of his drink

Zanne Machel: I hope it will offer some solace that he will face justice. We apprehended him attempting to flee the city the day of the riot.

Lamont: It.... I see.

Zanne Machel: Given my personal connection to the case, I won't be trying it, but I have the utmost faith in my colleague who will be. It will be a sealed case, out of the public eye, but, I assure you, Thurston will cause no further harm.

Lamont: ...What are the charges?

Zanne Machel: Corruption and conspiracy of multiple kinds, on multiple counts. It may still take some time to ferret out all of his crimes, but we've enough evidence to bring the first charges. My colleague is even considering charging him with apostasy and handing him over to the Asmodeans, but we'd prefer he remain in Machel custody, of course.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: ...I'm sorry, even with some expectations, this is quite a lot

Zanne Machel: nods.

Zanne Machel: It's not my intention to overwhelm you, but I would assume your realize this presents something of a power vacuum that will need addressing quickly.

Josh: (you*)

Lamont: yes, of course

Zanne Machel: First and foremost, there is no public head of the Allard family at the moment.

Lamont: nods slowly, and takes another drink

Zanne Machel: Now, legally, you are still Thurston's ward until you marry, with his consent. Luckily, however, my father may stand in his stead, and I have a signed document offering his enthusiastic consent for your match.

Zanne Machel: And, obviously, upon your marriage, all assets and responsibilities of your station will fully revert to you.

Lamont: Thank you.

Zanne Machel: It is, truly, our duty to you.

Zanne Machel: offers a small fortifying smile at that.

Zanne Machel: If I might ask, have you given much thought to what you'll do after your wedding?

Lamont: ...how do you mean?

Zanne Machel: gestures towards one of a pair of chairs near the window looking out on the lawn.

Zanne Machel: You've heard the rumors about the ongoing conflict in the south?

Lamont: (gestures as in let's sit?)

Josh: (Yeah)

Lamont: I have, yes.

Lamont: will take a seat

Lamont: I have been expecting to hear that my unit is to be depoyed there, and I expected to be sent with them....

Zanne Machel: That is...one possibility.

Zanne Machel: I understand there was some difficulty with your unit during your last deployment? Above and beyond the obvious.

Zanne Machel: likewise takes a seat.

Lamont: looks out the window.

Lamont: ...the difficulty was not with my unit.

Zanne Machel: nods.

Zanne Machel: I spoke with cousin Alcina. She speaks highly of you, but said your dragonmark can be...difficult.

Lamont: nods.

Lamont: I appreciate her assessment.

Zanne Machel: However despicable your uncle is, with him in custody, we've lost an asset. If you're willing, and with further training, we think you'd make a more than equal replacement.

Lamont: ...I see.

Lamont: Of course I am willing to serve in whatever role you think woudl be most suitable

Lamont: says, clearly a little overwhelmed with everything but trying to keep up

Zanne Machel: On a more personal note, I think Thurston's methods were counterproductive to long-term stability. Since your return to the city, you've demonstrated an ability to attract and coordinate disparate allies, under difficult circumstances, towards an outcome beneficial for all parties.

Zanne Machel: Excepting, of course, the obvious.

Zanne Machel: smiles a little grimly at that.

Lamont: nods

Zanne Machel: It is my belief that that sort of inter-House, cross-Confederacy cooperation, rather than rivalry, is the only real path forward.

Lamont: I do agree, especially as we are being drawn into more external matters

Zanne Machel: It's fortunate you bring that up.

Zanne Machel: You know about the Ebemar resolution working through Parliament? I know it was in the papers, but you've also had quite a lot to be dealing with, of course.

Lamont: No, I haven't.

Lamont: I see.

Lamont: considers, then adds,

Lamont: I believe there are at least some in the delegation here who view it similarly

Zanne Machel: nods.

Zanne Machel: What would you think of deployment to Ebemar, rather than Per An?

Lamont: I should take some time to consider it more carefully, but, based on all you've said, I think I would see it favourably

Zanne Machel: I would also add that it is likely a much safer assignment, if, say, a young officer wanted to bring their spouse along.

Lamont: He would certainly appreciate that, and I believe he would appreciate the opportunity

Zanne Machel: nods.

Zanne Machel: There's still some time for you to discuss and decide, but the sooner we know one way or the other, the sooner we can plan accordingly.

Lamont: I understand.

Lamont: I will give it due consideration. And I should have few other concerns to occupy me.

Zanne Machel: nods, and offer her hand.

Zanne Machel: Please let me know if there's any way I can help.

Zanne Machel: Truly.

Lamont: will take it

Lamont: Thank you, for all of this.

Lamont Tells Nik of His Uncle's Arrest

Lamont: will head almost immediately to Nik's place after his meeting with Zanne

Nik: is reading, but of course will put his book down when you arrive.

Lamont: Nik!

Nik: Lamont? What's the matter?

Nik: gets up from his resting seat to come and greet you

Lamont: is clearly excited, but also still reeling from everything

Lamont: Nothing... nothing at all

Lamont: pulls you in close for an embrace even if it is maybe not the most proper thing

Nik: looks puzzled, but smiles as he can tell that at least you don't seem upset about something

Nik: hugs you back of course

Lamont: My uncle's been arrested

Nik: he... what?

Nik: tell me everything, what happened?

Lamont: let's you go so we can talk more easily

Lamont: he's been arrested. I just spoke with Zanne.... After the riots, he tried to flee the city

Lamont: she was quite confident that he will face full justice for his actions

Nik: That's... that's incredible, Lamont!

Lamont: It...it's over!

Nik: hugs you again

Nik: I'm so happy for you, it must be such a relief

Lamont: hugs you back tightly and sniffs

Lamont: Everything feels unreal

Lamont: And her father will endorse our match in his stead. We don't have to wait.

Lamont: They don't want me to

Nik: 's eyes widen at that

Nik: you mean we could marry sooner than fall?

Lamont: yes

Lamont: And... there's even more than that.

Nik: really? what?

Lamont: They don't want to send me to Moro.

Nik: oh 😮

Lamont: They want me to.... step into my uncle's role... in some ways. They want me to go to Ebemar.

Nik: oh, wow

Nik: that's... well, I'm sure it's a big responsibility, but I would surely not worry about you as much, even if we still need to be apart for a while...

Lamont: No - you could come with me

Nik: ... I could?

Lamont: yes.

Lamont: there's... things to consider

Nik: nods, still a bit dazed

Lamont: to talk through surely but...I think it is worth considering seriously.

Lamont: it's a lot. It's so much.

Nik: Yes, oh, that would be wonderful! I ... I know that in choosing to be with you, it would mean we'd likely be apart for some time, but I admit that if we didn't have to be, that would be much nicer!

Lamont: Things I've not been able to... well. It will be a lot of changes, regardless

Lamont: the biggest thing about this offer would be... there would be more things I couldn't share with you.

Nik: how do you mean?

Lamont: what they are asking me to do... it would be intelligence work, of some sort or another.

Lamont: I expect that.... even off the battlefield, there woudl still be dangers, but they mght not be things I could tell you

Nik: oh...

Lamont: That's what I mean

Nik: nods

Lamont: We can think more about that... I can hardly think at all

Nik: nods

Nik: but this is such wonderful news, we should do something to celebrate!

Lamont: ...yes, I suppose we should

Nik: rummages around to find his father's drink cabinet and get us each a glass of something ;)

Nik: here, let's drink to ... to freedom 🙂

Lamont: nods

Lamont: yes... to freedom

Nik: did you... well, what did you mean about they don't want you to wait? do they want us to marry QUITE soon?

Nik: asks with barely concealed excitement

Lamont: there's currently no on to serve as the head ofhouse for my family, or to take charge of the estates

Lamont: I can't imagine things will fall to pieces immediately but they do consider it a priority for it to be remedied

Nik: nods

Lamont: at leqst, that was my understanding, but I may have been a little overwhelmed while she was explaining everything...

Nik: But you need to marry to be completely free of someone else's control?

Nik: I mean... other than your beloved, of course 😉

Lamont: yes. I'm still bound by the guardianship, technically.

Nik: Well then, we should endeavour to remedy that as soon as we possibly can 😄

Lamont: I would like that very much

Nik: gives you an enthusiastic kiss

Lamont: mmmph

Nik: Now... should we go and talk to my father and tell him the good news? Or... should we lock the library door for a little while? 😉

Lamont: oh...

Lamont: I think perhaps... we should tell your father first, so as not to be in utter disarray for the conversation later....

Nik: hmm perhaps you have a point there

Nik: then later, we can celebrate properly

Lamont: nods and pulls Nik into another kiss

Leonora and Magga Ask Lamont to Be Their Baby Daddy

Leonora: and Magga have invited Lamont over for dinner

Lamont: will arrive as directed, all nicely dressed

Leonora: tries not to clean obsessively to keep herself distracted before Lamont arrives.

Magga: Calm down, dear.

Leonora: I am calm.

Magga: Yes, I can tell how calm you are. It'll be fine...

Leonora: Well. He could say no, you know. His situation has changed.

Magga: it's true. But if he does, then we go to the next choice. He's not the only stud at the market. so to speak.

Leonora: You're right, of course. Oh, that must be him at the door.

Leonora: goes to welcome their guest.

Magga: will accompany you

Leonora: smiles and tries not to look anxious as she opens the door.

Magga: grins widely and, perhaps, warmly.

Leonora: Hello, welcome!

Lamont: smiles in return, seeming fairly calm

Lamont: thank you

Magga: Good evening, Lord Stillmarch.

Leonora: Come in. Dinner will be served shortly. Will you have some wine?

Lamont: Hraal Wengal, Lady Leonora, thank you

Lamont: and yes, please

Lamont: I've also brought just a small token of gratitude for your hospitality

Lamont: will pass leonora a small basket

Leonora: Oh, thank you!

Leonora: leads everyone into the sitting room and sits to keep from fidgeting, and pours some wine for everyone.

Lamont: (It has some brandied cherries and a couple of stillmarch-produced clw potions ;)

Magga: Ooh, very nice.

Magga: says, admiring the gift basket

Leonora: So, it seems we have a couple of things to discuss.

Lamont: nods

Leonora: Magga and I have given the matter some thought, and if you are amenable, we would like to work up terms for a contract to provide us an heir, with the possibility of a second down the line.

Leonora: I realize that sounds all so very formal, but firstly, I am a formal woman, and secondly, the complexities of our lives do not allow us the luxury of deep informality in this regard.

Lamont: I am honoured to be your choice

Lamont: And I am well familiar with such complexities

Leonora: sips her wine and tries to keep calm.

Leonora: I realize that you may have various needs and interests. The question of what you would like in return for this, ah, service, is an open one.

Lamont: I have given it some though - though I hve not discussed it extensively with Nik.

Leonora: Yes, am I to understand that congratulations are in order?

Lamont: yes.... a formal annoucement will be forthcoming but there are various formalities to tend to.

Lamont: thank you.

Leonora: smiles.

Leonora: Of course.

Leonora: He's an excellent choice. Do you know that my family and his have long ties, in Thantopolis?

Lamont: I would be surprised if that were not the case

Leonora: Well, at any rate, we are very pleased for you both

Magga: Yes, congratulations.

Lamont: our union comes with it's own complexities, partly because I face similar expectation from my house to produce an heir with appropriate mark to maintain the alliance between my family and House Machel.

Leonora: Of course.

Lamont: While there are ways, I understand, that Nik and I could have children of our own, they would not meet that criteria. This is not somethig I have discussed with him at all.... I'm sure the question of succession has not even crossed his mind.

Leonora: Your relationship is very new.

Magga: Bit early for you to be worrying about children yet, I'd think?

Lamont: That is true. And the duties and obligations of my family are very old. At least by my people's standards

Lamont: says to Leonora, and then turns to Magga

Lamont: In some sense, yes. but this was part of your marriage negotiations as well, so it shouldnt' be too surprising that it is something I must consider.

Magga: Oh, yes, but surely you want to have a chance to have some fun first.

Leonora: I recommend having as much fun as possible.

Lamont: I assure you, we will have plenty

Magga: chuckles

Leonora: Well, are there any terms you'd like to discuss now, informally?

Lamont: manages to say without blushing too thoroughly

Lamont: I would like to know if it would be possible to secure your assistance... one way or another, for arranging a suitable heir for myself.

Leonora: Well.

Leonora: I would certainly be open to it.

Leonora: When are you, ahh, how do I ask this delicately, have you decided for how long you would like to have fun before moving on to a more settled life?

Lamont: That is something I need to discuss with Nik - but certainly, this would be a few year away....

Lamont: But I'm also quite conscious that... my father was quite close to you in age, when he ...died.

Lamont: takes a momemtnto discard various euphemisms

Leonora: Well hopefully we do not have to consider death in this equation.

Lamont: Given how my wardship turned out, I would think it improdent to ignore.

Magga: Hrm, well. If my wife's... availability doesn't correspond with your and your spouse's requirements, surely we know other potential partners we could help connect you with?

Leonora: The Palatine family is quite large.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: yes, as I said, I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be a ... direct exchage. Though that I think would serve to strengthen the kind of social ties you spoke of building before.

Leonora: Of course. To further cement the bond between our families, and our children.

Lamont: yes

Magga: We're envisioning this as an ongoing connection.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: That was my understanding

Leonora: Well, wonderful, then! It sounds like we are in agreement, at least in principle.

Leonora: I realize that this is just a first step, but we can toast to that!

Lamont: of course :)

Lamont: will raise his glass

Magga: will toast to that as well

Leonora: So, ahh, if it is not too imprudent, I should mention that I heard about your uncle's situation. Actually, I may have had some small part to play.

Leonora: I understand that he is to be detained.

Lamont: He is facing trial, yes

Lamont: I'm sure the letter you showed me will have some bearing on that

Leonora: Were you aware that I spoke to him recently?

Lamont: No...

Leonora: Regarding the attack, and the letter, and his involvement with it.

Leonora: Something you may not know about me, Lamont, but you should, given our new agreement, is that I have an ongoing involvement in various sorts of sensitive work, in Nachtur.

Leonora: Serving our military in various capacities.

Leonora: The attack at Therma Alba was, frankly, just about the stupidest thing our enemies could have done.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: I am certainly not surprised

Leonora: For a Sentinel to be so intimately involved in this business. Well. It offends my sensibilities.

Leonora: And Magga can tell you what happens to those who offend my sensibilities.

Lamont: I am confident he will face true justice

Leonora: Indeed. I am afraid that, given the nature of gossip, you will need to deal with some backlash to all of this.

Lamont: If you played some role in his apprehension, then you have my gratitude for that

Leonora: I will say that I played some role in causing him to be so fearful for his situation that he acted more rashly than he otherwise would. And spoke with far too much candour before he realized that he was being trapped.

Lamont: and that is inevitable, but also not anything new to me. It will not be a public matter however.

Lamont: nods

Leonora: I am confident that Marquess Lownmont's ire is equal to my own, and that she will handle it.

Lamont: I am confident that it exceeds it.

Lamont: as an internal house matter, if not on other counts

Leonora: You, ah, you do not suppose that these charges that will be laid are anything near to the full extent of his crimes, do you?

Lamont: frowns slightly

Lamont: I'm not sure what you mean.

Leonora: I simply mean, what we know him to have done, is surely only a fraction of what he may have done over the years.

Lamont: nods

Leonora: And I would wonder ... how much you would want to know, about those other things. Or whether it is best to just lay it all aside.

Lamont: (What is her intent here?)

Leonora: (to figure out whether Lamont is going to be ok with letting some of Thurston's other crimes go unpunished)

Lamont: I am personally - quite personally - familiar with a great many of his transgressions. I recognize that there may be more of these than we will ever truly know, but I am sure that his freedom is utterly forfeit, regardless.

Leonora: smiles.

Leonora: That is good to hear, Lamont. You deserve unfettered happiness, as much as any of us can have that.

Lamont: ...Thank you, though I don't count myself as more deserving of such than anyone else

Leonora: Well, know that you have friends in the Wengal clan, willing to help you as you build your new life.

Lamont: I am grateful for your offer. As I begin to do so, I trust I will have more to offer in return.

Leonora: All right, then. I think I hear dinner being served, so we should head in and eat!

Magga: wakes up from his light doze and grins

Magga: I think you'll enjoy the meal - plenty of delicacies from my people!

Lamont: then I look forward to it all the more

Leonora: Try the grubs, they're delicious!

Lamont and Nik Inform Coifárë of the Good News

Lamont: will have had his servants prepare a few little things in the expectation of afternoon guests

Coifárë: will arrive at the appointed time.

Lamont: stands when they are shown in, setting side the papers he was looking over

Coifárë: smiles as they enter.

Nik: will also get up and greet them

Josh: (Are there servants present?)

Lamont: Fárë, so wonderful to see you, as always

Lamont: (not for long)

Coifárë: And you as well, of course.

Coifárë: will wait for the servants to leave and then step over to give both boys a kiss.

Coifárë: So, your note said there was good news? Don't keep me in suspense.

Lamont: smiles

Lamont: My uncle's been arrested.

Coifárë: Wow, that's...that's amazing.

Lamont: A sealed trial but... a number of charges

Lamont: I've been assured the case is very strong

Coifárë: I would imagine so.

Coifárë: What does this mean for you?

Lamont: looks to Nik

Lamont: A great many things. I'm still working through it all.

Nik: we can get married sooner!

Nik: blurts out

Lamont: yes. As I am still bound by the terms of my guardianship, and there is no head of the Allard family, and.... Lord Machel has given his endorsement of our match

Lamont: That's the most immediate thing.

Coifárë: What?! Eeeeeeeeee!

Coifárë: moves to pull them both into a big hug.

Lamont: smiles broadly at their excitement and hugs back

Nik: also hugs back

Coifárë: When? Where? Oh, there's so much to plan. I'm so happy for you both!.

Lamont: We wanted to know.... if perhaps you would marry us?

Coifárë: pauses, then hugs them both tighter.

Coifárë: Oh course! That would be so great!

Lamont: It would :3

Lamont: A summer wedding, afterall...

Coifárë: What are you thinking? Here in Highmark, at Therma Alba, Stillmarch...?

Nik: glances at Lamont

Lamont: looks back

Nik: We hadn't really figured that out yet... did you have a preference?

Lamont: Honestly, my mind is still reeling from a great many things

Lamont: I think... they're may be too many disruptions in Stillmarch to organize anything appropriate... and I know your family is still dealign with the aftermath of the attack....

Nik: /me nods

Lamont: Maybe Highmark would be best? Or... somewhere else?

Nik: HIghmark is fine with me.

Coifárë: Highmark is the most convenient for attendees, I would think.

Nik: Anywhere would be wonderful with you 🙂

Lamont: smiles

Coifárë: smiles.

Lamont: Highmark, then.

Lamont: One decision made...

Lamont: many to go.

Coifárë: You'll need new outfits, and you'll need to pick your wedding party, and we'll need to find you a venue, and...oh, this is going to be so great!

Nik: grins excitedly

Lamont: nods, trying not to look overwhelmed

Nik: Like you said, Lamont, I'm sure if we let them, our mothers would do much of the arrangements. For the things we are less concerned about, we can seek their help 🙂

Lamont: We would welcome your assistance. I'll probably enlist my mother as well, I'm sure she'll be keen...

Lamont: nods to Nik

Lamont: yes, just so.

Coifárë: is just grinning so much.

Coifárë: I want to talk about this for days, but I'm assuming that's not all that came out of Thurston being arrest.

Lamont: nods, his expression turning serious again

Lamont: No, there are a number of other things. I'll be expected to take over management of my family's various responsibilities, of course, but that includes so... different career prospects

Lamont: Which is to say - I have been offered a posting to Ebemar, which would allow me to bring Nik.

Coifárë: Oh, wow.

Coifárë: That's incredible, Lamont. And Nik, too, getting to travel to Ahkas, you must be so excited.

Coifárë: You two have so much going on. 😄

Lamont: smiles at Nik, knowing just HOW excited he has been about the idea :3

Nik: Yes, I am!

Lamont: We do.... I know I've said it before but... you are welcome to be part if it, as much as you would like

Lamont: offers them his hand

Coifárë: Count on it. 😉

Coifárë: takes Lamont's hand.

Lamont: Good. We'll hold a space for you, wherever we are.

Nik: Oh good 🙂 He's been worried, I think, that you wouldn't be able to go with us, but he was really hoping you would say yes. As was I, of course!

Lamont: blushes at that

Lamont: I dind't.... don't want to presume... you would do more than visit....

Coifárë: I have duties here, much as I do my best to downplay them, but I have good stewards.

Coifárë: What do you mean?

Lamont: squeezes their hand

Lamont: I mean... whatever you are comfortable with But you are welcome to come with us, if you like.

Lamont: We have time to figure things out

Coifárë: squeezes back, and reaches for Nik's hand.

Coifárë: I'm so happy for that. I know things have been difficult for you for...truly years at this point, but, with Thurston gone...it's like you can actually breathe, and live, and plan, and dream, and...oh it's so wonderful.

Nik: He's been much more relaxed already - despite all the planning we'll have to deal with 🙂

Coifárë: smiles at that.

Nik: glances at Lamont

Lamont: It does feel like a huge burden has been lifted... but it doesn't feel wholly real, either

Nik: Did you want to tell them about... the things with Lord and Lady Wengal?

Nik: asks in what he probably thinks is a discreet way but is actually extremely suspicious ;)

Coifárë: definitely looks curious.

Lamont: oh, hmmm. In confidence, perhaps?

Lamont: It's not solely our affair.

Lamont: nor is anything official

Lamont: glances at Coifare, but also will take Nik's hand to complete the circle :3

Coifárë: Is this about the heir situation?

Lamont: yes.

Lamont: are you familiar?

Coifárë: I've talked with her about it a few times, but I wasn't aware any decisions had been made.

Lamont: Well, they have asked me. Considering our own situation, there is possibility of a more... resiprocal relationship of some sort. But again... it is all under discussion currently

Lamont: I suspect that is proabably what Nik is more excited about :x

Nik: smiles

Nik: In a few years, though. Not right away!

Lamont: yes.

Coifárë: chuckles.

Coifárë: It's nice to be able to plan ahead, though.

Lamont: nods

Lamont: It's... again... its a lot @_@

Lamont: I'm so grateful to have the support I have now.

Coifárë: And will continue to have. 🙂

Lamont: Yes.

Lamont: will pull them both back close into another embrace :3
