===Lady Morelos instructs Induriel to hamper Lord Damasuhu's progress through her realm===
 +

 +
<br><Morelos> Awaken, Lord Induriel.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Her voice sounds strange, as much within your own mind as in your ears.
 +
<br>* Induriel hears her command
 +
<br>* Induriel arises and looks around, presumably still reeling from the activities though which they have concluded their Pact?
 +
<br>* Morelos is sitting on the edge of Induriel's bed in the keep, in her drow maiden guise.
 +
<br><Induriel> My Lady! How may I serve you?
 +
<br>* Morelos smiles slyly.
 +
<br><Morelos> I have have a trap to spring.
 +
<br><Induriel> Oh?
 +
<br><Morelos> I have given leave to Lord Damasuhu to bring a team of scouts and saboteurs through my lands to the lands of Nesu Abamatu.
 +
<br><Morelos> But, as you were not my servant at the time the permission was given, the promise of noninterference does not apply to you.
 +
<br><Induriel> Ah.
 +
<br><Induriel> I could then deal with them in some fashion, without it being a breach of your commitment. Misdirect them to somewhere that serves your purposes better, perhaps?
 +
<br><Morelos> No need for such restraint.
 +
<br><Morelos> I'm sure you understand the impairment of removing an enemy's sight, no?
 +
<br>* Induriel grimaces
 +
<br><Morelos> Damasuhu is Dananu's eyes and ears.
 +
<br><Induriel> Indeed.
 +
<br><Induriel> Will he be leading this scouting mission, then?
 +
<br><Morelos> As per my agreement with him, yes.
 +
<br><Induriel> And how large is this group?
 +
<br><Morelos> I allowed him a group of five associates.
 +
<br><Morelos> I have allies who can provide more than that to accompany you.
 +
<br><Morelos> Wyldfae with no allegiance to me.
 +
<br><Morelos> Not by pact, at the least.
 +
<br><Induriel> I, ah, vividly remember the lord who attended you when first you summoned me... the one who asked to tear me limb from limb...
 +
<br><Induriel> In any case: I am sure it is easy for those from the outside to get lost in the Feywild.
 +
<br><Morelos> Of course.
 +
<br><Induriel> It would hardly be surprising if, ah, Lord Damasuhu and his companions were to be separated from one another and fall one by one.
 +
<br>* Morelos smiles.
 +
<br><Morelos> I knew I had chosen well.
 +
<br><Induriel> I expect some of them could find each other again... only to discover that their recovered 'companion' was not who he or she appeared to be...
 +
<br>* Morelos nods.
 +
<br><Morelos> You have a day to prepare.
 +
<br><Induriel> Unfortunate. But I am sure your Ladyship warned them of the dangers of the Feywild when they first made the request - if they chose to ignore that warning, the consequences are theirs to bear.
 +
<br>* Morelos nods again, smiling a satisfied smile.
 +
<br><Induriel> If you have further advice or commands, my lady, I attend. Otherwise, I shall consider how best to carry out this mission..
 +
<br>* Induriel bows
 +
<br>* Morelos stands.
 +
<br><Morelos> You will know how to cross the boundary to my realm when the time comes. Your allies will be waiting for you.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> With that, she is gone, from one moment to the next. A strange but not unpleasant floral scent lingers.
 +
<br>* Induriel tries to figure out (by reason, or by the new knowledge of the Feywild his Pact mystically grants him) what route they'll be taking, and how to prepare suitable traps along it...
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> You find that, by considering it, you have intimate knowledge of Morelos's realm.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Roll me Warfare
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> With 2 bonus dice.
 +
<br><Induriel> So that would be 2 dice? :/ I don't seem to have a Warfare rating...
 +
<br><Induriel> Could I try Cunning instead?
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Hmm
 +
<br><Induriel> My goal isn't so much to go for direct attacks as to find points where they can be isolated, separated, otherwise led astray.
 +
<br><Induriel> Forests with thick plant growth that springs up suddenly, paths that suddenly give way to a landslide, etc.
 +
<br><Induriel> A pond where those who look at their own reflection suddenly switch places with it and are trapped.
 +
<br><Induriel> You know - *fey* sort of stuff. :D
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Okay, sure, roll Cunning
 +
<br><Induriel> Straight Cunning, or do I still get the extra 2 dice? :D
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Yeah, the extra bonus dice
 +
<br><Induriel> !roll 6d6
 +
<br>* Korivan rolls for Induriel: [ 6d6 ] getting [ 5 6 5 6 2 1 ] for a total of [ 25 ].
 +
<br><Induriel> So I guess that's 22
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Those are all things you can accomplish. :)
 +
<br><Induriel> Yay!
 +
<br><Induriel> I want to turn their scouting mission into a horror movie where they get picked off in various ways one by one. :D
 +
<br><Induriel> Except that in this movie, there are NO SURVIVORS.
 +
<br><Induriel> Separate, isolate, destroy.
 +
<br><Induriel> And the doppleganger thing - I definitely want to do the doppleganger thing. :D
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (This should be taking place a bit before Eyllia arrives. Did you want to discuss this with anyone in Nesu Abamatu beforehand?)
 +
<br>* Morelos is now known as Malak
 +
<br><Induriel> I suppose I would at least warn May that the scouting mission is coming, and where they'll emerge from if any escape. Just in case I don't get them all.
 +

 +
===Induriel informs May of the spying mission and his plans===
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Tuck, did you want to have that talk?)
 +
<br><May> (Sure, we can do that)
 +
<br>* Induriel will go to find May, then!
 +
<br>* May will be fairly easy to find. Probably in the library again.
 +
<br><Induriel> (Big surprise! :P )
 +
<br>* Induriel approaches her in the library
 +
<br><Induriel> Researching anything in particular, Winyamo?
 +
<br>* Induriel smiles
 +
<br>* May sighs and closes the book.
 +
<br><May> Military tactics. The Aethrennari strategist Lorthria Karestell. I feel kind of useless sitting here while all my friends are out fighting for me.
 +
<br><Induriel> Ah. Well, perhaps you can help me plot, then.
 +
<br>* May raises an eyebrow.
 +
<br><Induriel> I have been given a commission by my new Patroness.
 +
<br><Induriel> I suppose it will be the first test of what she has granted me.
 +
<br><May> What kind of commission?
 +
<br><Induriel> It seems that a short time ago, before our agreement, she was persuaded by her kinsman's representative to allow him and five companions to travel through her portion of the Feywild in a scouting and sabotage mission on their way to here.
 +
<br><Induriel> Since I was not her agent at the time, it seems I am not bound by her pledge of non-interference, however.
 +
<br><Induriel> So I'm taking steps to ensure that once Damasuhu's party enters the Feywild, they never emerge.
 +
<br><May> I am... suddenly really glad we got her on our side.
 +
<br><Induriel> I thought I should warn you just in case some of them *do<br>* make it out. Not that I plan to let that happen - I don't want to fail in the first command she's given me! - but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
 +
<br><Induriel> I've been thinking of various ways to separate the group members from each other so they can be dealt with individually.
 +
<br><Induriel> Any suggestions you have would be welcome.
 +
<br><Induriel> However, it does occur to me...
 +
<br><May> ...Murdersprites.
 +
<br>* Induriel muses for a moment
 +
<br><May> I've heard they can skeletonize a person in less than thirty seconds.
 +
<br><Induriel> Twenty-nine. To be precise.
 +
<br>* Induriel smiles grimly.
 +
<br><Induriel> Anyway, back to the thought I just had... Lady Morelos referred to Damasuhu as Dananu's eyes and ears.
 +
<br><Induriel> Removing him would, in a sense, leave the would-be Emperor blinded and deafened. But...
 +
<br><Induriel> What if he could instead see and hear things that are not true?
 +
<br><Induriel> Hmmm.
 +
<br><May> ...you want to replace him?
 +
<br><May> How? An illusion?
 +
<br><Induriel> Maybe that isn't possible. Or it's over-ambitious.
 +
<br><May> No... it's brilliant.
 +
<br><Induriel> I'm not clear on how the two of them are communicating with each other.
 +
<br><May> If it can work...
 +
<br><May> Hmmm...
 +
<br><Induriel> (Would they be communicating in the Feywild?)
 +
<br><May> Could you capture him first? Make him tell you somehow?
 +
<br>* Induriel frowns
 +
<br><Induriel> He is not without resources of his own.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (It's possibly he has a dream contact back at their camp.)
 +
<br><Induriel> Perhaps... if he can be convinced that he has emerged from the Feywild when really he hasn't, and reports back false troop positions that we want him to think are real...
 +
<br><Induriel> (would that be possible? Feyception?)
 +
<br><Induriel> As I understand it my mission is to ensure they don't leave at all.
 +
<br><Induriel> Something along those lines would achieve that to the letter, while still serving our purposes.
 +
<br><May> Can you do that?
 +
<br><Induriel> I'm not sure. Perhaps? I must think, draw on the knowledge Lady Morelos has granted me. As her representative, I may be able to shape her lands directly, for a time.
 +
<br><May> Anything you could discover would help our efforts
 +
<br><Induriel> After a harrowing ordeal where he loses companions one by one, I expect he'd be all the more eager to believe he's finally made it out...
 +
<br><Induriel> Well. If I *can<br>* decieve him, what would you want him to believe? Where should he think our troops are?
 +
<br><May> Flanking their own perhaps. Anything to draw out his lines. The more he spreads his troops the easier it is for us to roll them up along their line.
 +
<br>* Induriel frowns
 +
<br><Induriel> I don't know if this will work, mind you. It may be safer just to eliminate him entirely.
 +
<br><May> That will have to be to your discretion, then.
 +
<br><May> Depending on how things shake out.
 +
<br><May> He can't be allowed to leave. He's far too dangerous.
 +
<br><Induriel> I'll see what I can do. It could be instructive to let him think he's emerged, and see what he does to scout and sabotage what he thinks are our positions.
 +
<br><Induriel> But yes, he is dangerous. I just wanted to be sure to warn you that he is on this mission, just in case he gets as far as here.
 +
<br><May> Thank you. I appreciate the warning.
 +
<br><May> Be careful, Istyar.
 +
<br>* Induriel nods
 +

 +

 +
===Eyllia reports to May about the underwater monster to come up with a plan===
 +
<br>* Lysa will have gotten the Drake underway, back towards your other ships.
 +
<br>* Lysa comes to find Eyllia.
 +
<br>* Eyllia staring back in the direction of the undersea monster
 +
<br><Lysa> Any more sign of it?
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (There hasn't been.)
 +
<br>* Eyllia shakes her head no
 +
<br><Eyllia> There is no way to deal with that thing without paying a real price
 +
<br>* Lysa frowns.
 +
<br><Lysa> What did you have in mind?
 +
<br><Eyllia> bait it with a ship to get it to the surface, and then ram it, spear it, do whatever we can to end it.
 +
<br><Lysa> How big is it?
 +
<br><Lysa> You got the best look at it.
 +
<br><Eyllia> thats all I got... maybe magic can do something too... mess with its control... but I don't know if we have anyone here that can do that.
 +
<br>* Eyllia will describe it as best we can
 +
<br><Lysa> Maybe...maybe we need to fall back for now?
 +
<br><Eyllia> we need to meet with the rest of our ships at least
 +
<br><Lysa> We could station some marines to keep an eye out, just in case.
 +
<br>* Lysa nods.
 +
<br>* Eyllia nods in agreement
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> It's about day's sail back to the rest of your fleet.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> There's been no more sign of the beast thus far.
 +
<br><Eyllia> any chance Gladius has come back?
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Not to the Drake. He's been going back and forth to the southern fortification for now.
 +
<br>* Eyllia will meet with the other captains to discuss options
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Roll Warfare (Tactics) for me.
 +
<br><Eyllia> !roll 3d6
 +
<br>* Korivan rolls for Eyllia: [ 3d6 ] getting [ 3 1 4 ] for a total of [ 8 ].
 +
<br>* Lan-werk rolls for Eyllia: [ 3d6 ] getting [ 6 1 5 ] for a total of [ 12 ].
 +
<br><Eyllia> (12)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Conferring with the captains, you think it's unlikely any ship would survive a ramming action against the creature.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> One of the captains suggests harpooning to try to immobilize it, but you're not sure you're outfitted for that, and you might need more ships in any case.
 +
<br><Eyllia> I'm loathe to flee, but we need more help to deal with this.
 +
<br><Eyllia> The Drake can race back to Nēšu Abamātu and mobilize some sort of counter attack
 +
<br><Eyllia> the rest of the ships can watch  for thier ships and the beast, and stay ahead of them.
 +
<br><Eyllia> at least that way we'll know when they are coming
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> The captains nod and voice their assent.
 +
<br><Eyllia> Our efforts have revealed thier weapon and delayed thier approach.  We have all done well here.
 +
<br><Eyllia> When we meet again, it will be to dispatch them for good.
 +
<br>* Eyllia claps hands with the other captains before they leave
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> It'll be a few day's tense but uneventful sailing back to Nesu Abamatu.
 +
<br>* Eyllia will find something to burn off her nervous energy
 +
<br><Korivan> (I nominate: Meghan ;)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (heh)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Heading to the keep when you arrive, then?
 +
<br><Eyllia> (yes)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Servants will take Eyllia to where May is.
 +
<br>* May will be... in the library I guess?
 +
<br>* May will look up in surprise when you are shown in.
 +
<br><May> Eyllia! You're back!
 +
<br><Eyllia> Much sooner than I wanted to be.
 +
<br><May> What happened?
 +
<br><Eyllia> I'm sure you heard the reports of our first encounter with the enemy ships
 +
<br><May> Yes, I did.
 +
<br><Eyllia> I decided to take the Drake and chase them to see what they were up to.
 +
<br>* May nods.
 +
<br><Eyllia> They have a sea monster under thier control.  One big enough that no ship could survive an encounter with it.
 +
<br>* Eyllia describes it as best she can
 +
<br><May> Well... fuck.
 +
<br><Eyllia> It must be thier plan to blockade the city
 +
<br><May> They were probably planning to set it on the harbor. Cut us off for a siege if necessary.
 +
<br><May> Where is it now?
 +
<br>* NPC3 is now known as Morelos
 +
<br><Eyllia> I assume slowly coming up the coast.  I left the rest of my ships to keep watch and raced here to try and muster a defense against it.
 +
<br><May> Hmmmm....
 +
<br><May> Maybe we don't have to.
 +
<br><May> Laris and Korivan are turning the imperials demon troops back on their masters. Their reliance on summoning will be their own downfall.  Maybe we can do the same here.
 +
<br><Eyllia> if true that would be safer than trying to fight it... but still risky.
 +
<br><Eyllia> How close do you need to be to work such magic?
 +
<br><May> It depends. The closer the better.
 +
<br><May> But if my ritualists and I can go with you on the drake... Take control of the monster, use it against their ships and then banish it to... I don't know, a plane of shrimp or something.
 +
<br><May> If it doesn't work we're no worse off than we were before. Unless we die. Then we're worse off.
 +
<br><Eyllia> The Drake should be able to tack around the creature, as long as we have a good wind.
 +
<br>* May nods.
 +
<br><May> (Josh, is that theoretically a reasonable idea?)
 +
<br><Eyllia> How long would it take to prepare?  Its days away if we wait for it here.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Hmm. It's risky, but banishing at least is theoretically possible. It would be a significant undertaking.)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Control would be harder.)
 +
<br><May> Hmmm... n second thought it might be easier to simply banish the thing and then sweep in with the fleet to clean up the rest of their ships. That would also take less preparation time.
 +
<br><Eyllia> unless they bring up more escorts, their transports are very vulnerable... if it wasnt for that monster, we probably could have paralyzed them.
 +
<br><May> I'll take my relevant books and research on the ship. I can leave in a few hours. My uncle can run things here for the few days I will be gone.
 +
<br><Eyllia> How is the rest of the fighting?  Is it started?  I've been a little out of touch
 +
<br><May> It's started. According to Laris' report we've had some success, but it's going to be a hard fight.
 +
<br>* Eyllia nods
 +
<br><May> We should leave as soon as possible. Let me gather my things and talk to Sahhiru and I will meet you at the docks.
 +
<br><Eyllia> I'll head back to the Drake and work on getting her resupplied quickly.
 +
<br>* May nods.
 +
<br><Eyllia> See you in a few hours
 +
<br>* May winks.
 +
<br>* Eyllia will give her friend a quick hug and head out
 +

 +
===Korivan checks in with his apprentices about the ritual===
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Korivan, you wanted to talk to your apprentices?
 +
<br><Korivan> yes!
 +
<br>* Meghan is now known as Halgalaz
 +
<br>* Lysa is now known as Faasha
 +
<br>* Morelos is now known as Malak
 +
<br>* Korivan will seek them out after things have settled from the battle
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> They'll come find you. (I'm assuming you summoned them?)
 +
<br><Korivan> (at lest informally, sure :)
 +
<br>* Korivan will sort of check them over for any damage ;p
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> They saw some fighting, but none of them have any more than superficial wounds that Halgalaz has already seen to.
 +
<br><Korivan> (good good)
 +
<br>* Halgalaz is calmer than the other, two, who still seem pretty keyed up.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (And Faasha's clearly having to tamp down her dragonmark, as you can feel it, too.)
 +
<br>* Korivan is pretty please with how that went already, really, but will grin at them, showing his teeth encouragingly
 +
<br>* Malak is grinning still.
 +
<br><Korivan> Tell me...  of your victory
 +
<br><Malak> Me and Gurluk smashed and roared and aaahhhh!
 +
<br>* Malak makes a growl-y face.
 +
<br>* Halgalaz smiles.
 +
<br><Faasha> A victory for Bane.
 +
<br>* Faasha grins.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Faasha> And for us. :)
 +
<br><Korivan> yes.... he is pleased.
 +
<br><Korivan> (I assume ;)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Of course :) )
 +
<br><Korivan> YOu had no trouble with... the rites?
 +
<br><Korivan> Or the control? @_@
 +
<br>* Malak looks momentarily chagrined.
 +
<br>* Faasha also looks aside.
 +
<br><Halgalaz> They held, gaath.
 +
<br><Korivan> Tell me.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Faasha> There was so much...everything.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Faasha> Fear and anger and pride and courage...
 +
<br><Faasha> I feel just as much as I give.
 +
<br><Faasha> It was a great deal.
 +
<br><Korivan> yes.
 +
<br><Korivan> (Has she seen much action before?)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Previous stuff with you, but that's been in the rear of any action, I believe.)
 +
<br><Faasha> But Halgie anchored me.
 +
<br>* Halgalaz smiles.
 +
<br><Korivan> yes....  This is new to many... tis... scale.
 +
<br><Korivan> But you give each other strength... that is good.
 +
<br><Malak> We were very strong.
 +
<br><Korivan> Yes.
 +
<br><Malak> It felt like before, but not scary.
 +
<br><Korivan> Before? @_@
 +
<br><Malak> With my old master.
 +
<br><Malak> Power going through me.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Malak> But this was shared...not forced.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Korivan> Still... It is a power we must all consider... with caution.  But you have all done well.  I am pleased @_@
 +
<br><Korivan> But there will me more battles to come.
 +
<br><Malak> I'm not scared.
 +
<br><Faasha> We are ready.
 +
<br>* Halgalaz smiles at them both, chuckling a little.
 +
<br><Halgalaz> We will stand strong, gaath Korivan.
 +
<br>* Korivan grins at her
 +
<br><Korivan> Yes, you will.
 +
<br>* Korivan can prep them a little more specifically on any expected upcoming actions
 +

 +
===Harbinger brings new of an enemy ritual, and plans are made in case the siege is broken===
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Speaking of, the siege is ongoing, and they're beginning to field their engines.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Laris, this is what the fortifications are for, but, still, it's with both pride and dismay that you watch the Turathi begin the long task of destroying what you've built
 +
<br><Laris> (just as long as it's time consuming and painful for them, it's all good ;)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> You've repelled several assaults, but they haven't made anything as major as their first one.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> You get some reports from your orc allies where they've killed or turned back scouts looking into the smaller paths through the mountains.
 +
<br>* Laris is unsurprised they're still trying that, since he would probably do the same in their position :p
 +
<br>* Halgalaz is now known as Harbinger
 +
<br><Harbinger> Legatus.
 +
<br>* Harbinger appears at your side on the battlements one evening.
 +
<br><Laris> Ah, Harbinger.  Good evening.
 +
<br><Harbinger> The wall has held well.
 +
<br><Harbinger> Many of the Turathi have been sent to their fate.
 +
<br>* Laris nods
 +
<br><Laris> Good.
 +
<br><Harbinger> They are preparing for an assault.
 +
<br><Harbinger> A major ritual.
 +
<br><Harbinger> Many prisoners are meeting their fate as well, this night.
 +
<br><Laris> Have you seen this preparation taking place?
 +
<br>* Harbinger nods.
 +
<br><Harbinger> Though only from some distance.
 +
<br>* Laris nods
 +
<br><Laris> So I don't suppose you know what precisely they may be attempting with it?
 +
<br>* Harbinger shakes his head.
 +
<br><Harbinger> Something to take down the wall.
 +
<br><Harbinger> Beyond that...I do not know.
 +
<br><Laris> Hmm.  We should inform our ritualists of this, in case they can give any further insight.
 +
<br>* Harbinger nods.
 +
<br>* Laris will have Rufus and Korivan sent for, then.
 +
<br><Laris> (and anyone else useful who might be around?)
 +
<br>* Faasha is now known as Rufus_Metillius
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius salutes.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> What's going on?
 +
<br>* Korivan nods nd grins to both
 +
<br><Laris> Harbinger has observed that the enemy are preparing a major ritual tonight.
 +
<br><Korivan> Hmmm...
 +
<br>* Harbinger sighs heavily.
 +
<br><Harbinger> (ww)
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius sighs heavily.
 +
<br><Korivan> (any thoughts form the ancestors?)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (hmm. High or low?)
 +
<br><Korivan> (high)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> They seem agitated, but you can't pick out anything in specific.
 +
<br><Laris> They will try to bring down the wall.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Korivan> are we.... prepared for that? @_@
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> In that we have a wall.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> It's early for some kind of push.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> I wonder what's forced their hand?
 +
<br><Korivan> hmm.
 +
<br><Laris> We'll make preparations to fall back if necessary.  That has always been the intention here - to hold them back and buy time, and then when we can no longer do so, to draw back along the pass.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> You think it's time?
 +
<br><Korivan> I think....when the time comes....  We shoudl have some trap of our own to leve behind
 +
<br><Laris> I think we should be prepared for it to be time.  If it turns out we are wrong, or we're able to fend them off, then we'll be better prepared for the next time.
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius nods.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> Korivan, what did you have in mind?
 +
<br><Korivan> When we withdraw form this place....  we will leave behind a powerful ally @_@  And we should make that count.
 +
<br><Korivan> The walls you have raised.... are made of the mountain
 +
<br><Korivan> its earth adn stone and trees...
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius nods.
 +
<br><Korivan> We can call upon it to reinforce its own... and when it is breached, to release that power in more....costly ways @_@
 +
<br><Korivan> The Booyagh can do this... with Agrath, and her people @_@
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius looks to Laris.
 +
<br><Korivan> If you focus on what they are calling up.
 +
<br>* Laris nods
 +
<br>* Korivan hopes having some kind of plan will settle the ancestors some
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> I don't know if the Kai Do Arat need to prepare, but, if so, they and the risen will cover our retreat.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> (will need to be ready)
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> (will need to be ready to)
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> (Jeez, Josh, learn to type.)
 +
<br><Laris> Is this something you can maintain in place - that is, if they do not attack the wall tonight, or attack but fail to breach it, will your preparations still be ready for the next time this happens? Or will they only be able to hold for a short while?
 +
<br>* Laris asks Korivan
 +
<br>* Korivan considers
 +
<br><Korivan> (I assume we can do it now, and if it doesn't breach tonight we'd have time to recforce it/extend it afterwards?)
 +
<br><Korivan> (....speaking of not being able to type ;)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (You'd basically have to choose. You can have it ready and not be able to hold it, or risk not being prepared for this assault but it would hold if you do.)
 +
<br><Korivan> hmmm...  Perhaps.
 +
<br><Korivan> But it ill b... more difficult to prepare in time @_@
 +
<br><Laris> Another question, then - if you prepare it and do not use it now, will that make it harder or impossible to prepare it again in the future? Will the spirits involved be resistant to being ... summoned without being used for their intended goal?
 +
<br>* Korivan considers
 +
<br><Korivan> It would be.... a more difficult bargain.
 +
<br><Korivan> (I thnk that's a fair assessment?)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Yeah)
 +
<br>* Laris considers
 +
<br><Laris> Make the preparations you need, then, and act as if we assume they will breach the wall in the near future.  If we are wrong, we'll have more time to consider other options going forward.
 +
<br><Laris> We should start withdrawing civilians now, so they have more time to make their way to safety.  They will move more slowly and if the attack doesn't come tonight, we can send riders to call them back if we want.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius nods.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> I'll get things moving.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> (To Korivan) Good luck. Gods be with you.
 +
<br>* Laris will also get Severina and have her prepare her troops, and any others who need to know that we expect an attack tonight.
 +
<br><Korivan> you as well @_@
 +
<br>* Korivan will gathr the booyagh and some orcs, then!
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> The camp is abuzz with activity as preparations are made. The civilians get underway as quickly as possible, and should have most of a night's head start if retreat proves necessary.
 +

 +
===Korivan consults with Agrath Stonesleeper about a ritual to reinforce the wall, and her role in that===
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Korivan, what exactly are you looking to do?)
 +
<br><Korivan> (I am going to talk to Agrath about this as she might have more refinements, but I'd like to have the wall reinforced, and mayeb so that is pieces of it fall it breaks into elementas that will attch the legion folks?  Is something lik that doable?)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Yeah, that's probably doable.)
 +
<br><Korivan> (make it hard for them to breach the wall, but give them regrets a bit if they do ;)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (right)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Okay, roll me Willpower (Rituals) with, hmm, 2 bonus dice.
 +
<br><Korivan> (also get a sense of how long we can hold them there for, and how, if we don't have time to make it more enduring, what we can manage for when it does come down)
 +
<br>* Korivan rolls [ 10d6 ] getting [ 4 3 4 4 2 1 3 5 1 5 ] for a total of [ 32 ]
 +
<br><Korivan> (25)
 +
<br>* Malak is now known as Agrath
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Here, let's do a quick Agrath scene.
 +
<br><Korivan> (I should have used ancestors dice too, oh well!)
 +
<br><Korivan> (sure!)
 +
<br><Agrath> Mountain will make them regret their assault.
 +
<br>* Korivan nods.
 +
<br><Agrath> I will need to anchor this working.
 +
<br><Korivan> They are preparing riuals of their own.... summoning...something @_@
 +
<br>* Korivan nods
 +
<br><Korivan> What will you need?
 +
<br><Agrath> Mountain provides.
 +
<br><Agrath> But I will not retreat when the time comes.
 +
<br>* Korivan considers
 +
<br><Korivan> This is your place.
 +
<br>* Agrath nods.
 +
<br><Agrath> Yes.
 +
<br><Korivan> I...understand.
 +
<br><Korivan> We will hold....  as long as we can.
 +
<br>* Eyllia is now known as Eyllia_AFK
 +
<br><Agrath> As will I.
 +
<br><Korivan> Your strength....  has been greatlly valued, and will be @_@
 +
<br><Agrath> My strength means little.
 +
<br><Agrath> Honor Mountain, and my people.
 +
<br>* Korivan grins.
 +
<br><Korivan> Your strenght... brings them honour.  And we will not forget @_@
 +
<br>* Agrath nods.
 +
<br><Korivan> (Is that good?)
 +
<br><Korivan> (move into planning the specifics, etc?)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Yeah, that's good.)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Just establishing she's staying behind in case of retreat.)
 +
<br><Korivan> (cool :)
 +

 +
===The siege hits and Laris sends out the Kai Do Arat===
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> Just as dawn comes, there is a terrible roar from the Turathi camp, and the ground trembles even in the Nesu Abamatu camp.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> A mass rises from the camp, a being the size of a siege tower, of stone and strange crystals, its hide jagged with outcroppings. With a lurch, it begins to lumber towards the fortification.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> It shrugs off repeated lightning strikes as it closes the distance, the Turathi forces just a bit behind.
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius steels himself upon the battlements.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Where are Laris and Korivan atm?)
 +
<br>* Laris watches it approach from the battlements as well, I assume.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> That's...that's a big demon.
 +
<br><Korivan> (is the ritual complete?)
 +
<br><Laris> Yes, it is.
 +
<br><Korivan> (I assume taking a minute to recover form that and prepare for the fighting bit...  calling on Bane to bless our folks)
 +
<br><Laris> Be careful, all right?
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (It is, yes.)
 +
<br><Korivan> (is it definitely a demon?)
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius nods.
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> (You're not sure. It looks more like an elemental, but, then again, demons are essentially corrupted elementals.)
 +
<br><Rufus_Metillius> We'll hold as long as we can, but I'll get me and the other magi out.
 +
<br>* Laris nods
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius pats the nearest skeleton on the shoulder proudly.
 +
<br>* Laris gives Rufus a kiss, since who knows when we'll have a chance again.
 +
<br>* Rufus_Metillius kisses back passionately.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Okay, so, falling back, then?)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (For Laris and Korivan?)
 +
<br>* Laris will be wherever he would be best placed to summon the Kai do Arat to help cover the retreat.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (You can probably be mounted and waiting for a signal from the wall.)
 +
<br><Laris> (okay)
 +
<br><Korivan> (yeah am not sure what my best position would be, hmmm)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Korivan they probably should have put on a horse about as soon as the ritual ended. We know how he rides. ;) )
 +
<br><Korivan> (well that is fair.  I mean he would try to be around to support the Hrieffen, though, but he'll go when Krazz and his peeps say ;p)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> (Cool)
 +
<br><Korivan> (Faasha can help Pump ppl UP too)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> It's a bit nerve-wracking to wait behind the wall, hearing the end of the creature's approach, followed by the first of it's ponderous blows against the fortification.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> The crash and cracking must be deafening on the wall, but you can hear Rufus's shouted orders between strikes.
 +
<br><Korivan> (that's what prayer is for ;p)
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> As the wall shudder and cracks, you see the signal from the wall.
 +
<br>* Laris reaches out for the Kai do Arat, then.
 +
<br>* Harbinger is now known as Ulkash
 +
<br>* Ulkash appears next to Laris.
 +
<br><Laris> We need to retreat - they're going to break through the wall soon.  Can you cover us?
 +
<br><Ulkash> Of course, champion. Get your people to safety.
 +
<br><Laris> Thank you.
 +
<br>* Ulkash blows a phantom hunting horn, its echo eerie and distorted. The other Kai Do Arat appear, and charge towards, then through, the wall.
 +
<br>* Laris salutes her and will call the troops to order so we can begin a retreat.
 +
<br><YOAW_Narrator> There is another roar from the other side of the wall like the sound of an avalanche. You see interior pieces of the wall begin to crack and fall, then forming up as smaller beings of rock and stone, clambering their way back to the fray. Rufus is the last of the magi off the wall, but they make it to their horses and come galloping as a giant earthen fist plunges through the wall behind them.
 +
<br>* Laris is trying not to just pay attention to whether Rufus gets out safely, but it would be a lie to pretend he isn't worried about him, even if he is also worried about hundreds of other things at the same time.

Session

Session date: 2020-07-05

Lady Morelos instructs Induriel to hamper Lord Damasuhu's progress through her realm

<Morelos> Awaken, Lord Induriel.
<YOAW_Narrator> Her voice sounds strange, as much within your own mind as in your ears.
* Induriel hears her command
* Induriel arises and looks around, presumably still reeling from the activities though which they have concluded their Pact?
* Morelos is sitting on the edge of Induriel's bed in the keep, in her drow maiden guise.
<Induriel> My Lady! How may I serve you?
* Morelos smiles slyly.
<Morelos> I have have a trap to spring.
<Induriel> Oh?
<Morelos> I have given leave to Lord Damasuhu to bring a team of scouts and saboteurs through my lands to the lands of Nesu Abamatu.
<Morelos> But, as you were not my servant at the time the permission was given, the promise of noninterference does not apply to you.
<Induriel> Ah.
<Induriel> I could then deal with them in some fashion, without it being a breach of your commitment. Misdirect them to somewhere that serves your purposes better, perhaps?
<Morelos> No need for such restraint.
<Morelos> I'm sure you understand the impairment of removing an enemy's sight, no?
* Induriel grimaces
<Morelos> Damasuhu is Dananu's eyes and ears.
<Induriel> Indeed.
<Induriel> Will he be leading this scouting mission, then?
<Morelos> As per my agreement with him, yes.
<Induriel> And how large is this group?
<Morelos> I allowed him a group of five associates.
<Morelos> I have allies who can provide more than that to accompany you.
<Morelos> Wyldfae with no allegiance to me.
<Morelos> Not by pact, at the least.
<Induriel> I, ah, vividly remember the lord who attended you when first you summoned me... the one who asked to tear me limb from limb...
<Induriel> In any case: I am sure it is easy for those from the outside to get lost in the Feywild.
<Morelos> Of course.
<Induriel> It would hardly be surprising if, ah, Lord Damasuhu and his companions were to be separated from one another and fall one by one.
* Morelos smiles.
<Morelos> I knew I had chosen well.
<Induriel> I expect some of them could find each other again... only to discover that their recovered 'companion' was not who he or she appeared to be...
* Morelos nods.
<Morelos> You have a day to prepare.
<Induriel> Unfortunate. But I am sure your Ladyship warned them of the dangers of the Feywild when they first made the request - if they chose to ignore that warning, the consequences are theirs to bear.
* Morelos nods again, smiling a satisfied smile.
<Induriel> If you have further advice or commands, my lady, I attend. Otherwise, I shall consider how best to carry out this mission..
* Induriel bows
* Morelos stands.
<Morelos> You will know how to cross the boundary to my realm when the time comes. Your allies will be waiting for you.
<YOAW_Narrator> With that, she is gone, from one moment to the next. A strange but not unpleasant floral scent lingers.
* Induriel tries to figure out (by reason, or by the new knowledge of the Feywild his Pact mystically grants him) what route they'll be taking, and how to prepare suitable traps along it...
<YOAW_Narrator> You find that, by considering it, you have intimate knowledge of Morelos's realm.
<YOAW_Narrator> Roll me Warfare
<YOAW_Narrator> With 2 bonus dice.
<Induriel> So that would be 2 dice? :/ I don't seem to have a Warfare rating...
<Induriel> Could I try Cunning instead?
<YOAW_Narrator> Hmm
<Induriel> My goal isn't so much to go for direct attacks as to find points where they can be isolated, separated, otherwise led astray.
<Induriel> Forests with thick plant growth that springs up suddenly, paths that suddenly give way to a landslide, etc.
<Induriel> A pond where those who look at their own reflection suddenly switch places with it and are trapped.
<Induriel> You know - *fey* sort of stuff. :D
<YOAW_Narrator> Okay, sure, roll Cunning
<Induriel> Straight Cunning, or do I still get the extra 2 dice? :D
<YOAW_Narrator> Yeah, the extra bonus dice
<Induriel> !roll 6d6
* Korivan rolls for Induriel: [ 6d6 ] getting [ 5 6 5 6 2 1 ] for a total of [ 25 ].
<Induriel> So I guess that's 22
<YOAW_Narrator> Those are all things you can accomplish. :)
<Induriel> Yay!
<Induriel> I want to turn their scouting mission into a horror movie where they get picked off in various ways one by one. :D
<Induriel> Except that in this movie, there are NO SURVIVORS.
<Induriel> Separate, isolate, destroy.
<Induriel> And the doppleganger thing - I definitely want to do the doppleganger thing. :D
<YOAW_Narrator> (This should be taking place a bit before Eyllia arrives. Did you want to discuss this with anyone in Nesu Abamatu beforehand?)
* Morelos is now known as Malak
<Induriel> I suppose I would at least warn May that the scouting mission is coming, and where they'll emerge from if any escape. Just in case I don't get them all.

Induriel informs May of the spying mission and his plans

<YOAW_Narrator> (Tuck, did you want to have that talk?)
<May> (Sure, we can do that)
* Induriel will go to find May, then!
* May will be fairly easy to find. Probably in the library again.
<Induriel> (Big surprise! :P )
* Induriel approaches her in the library
<Induriel> Researching anything in particular, Winyamo?
* Induriel smiles
* May sighs and closes the book.
<May> Military tactics. The Aethrennari strategist Lorthria Karestell. I feel kind of useless sitting here while all my friends are out fighting for me.
<Induriel> Ah. Well, perhaps you can help me plot, then.
* May raises an eyebrow.
<Induriel> I have been given a commission by my new Patroness.
<Induriel> I suppose it will be the first test of what she has granted me.
<May> What kind of commission?
<Induriel> It seems that a short time ago, before our agreement, she was persuaded by her kinsman's representative to allow him and five companions to travel through her portion of the Feywild in a scouting and sabotage mission on their way to here.
<Induriel> Since I was not her agent at the time, it seems I am not bound by her pledge of non-interference, however.
<Induriel> So I'm taking steps to ensure that once Damasuhu's party enters the Feywild, they never emerge.
<May> I am... suddenly really glad we got her on our side.
<Induriel> I thought I should warn you just in case some of them *do
* make it out. Not that I plan to let that happen - I don't want to fail in the first command she's given me! - but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
<Induriel> I've been thinking of various ways to separate the group members from each other so they can be dealt with individually.
<Induriel> Any suggestions you have would be welcome.
<Induriel> However, it does occur to me...
<May> ...Murdersprites.
* Induriel muses for a moment
<May> I've heard they can skeletonize a person in less than thirty seconds.
<Induriel> Twenty-nine. To be precise.
* Induriel smiles grimly.
<Induriel> Anyway, back to the thought I just had... Lady Morelos referred to Damasuhu as Dananu's eyes and ears.
<Induriel> Removing him would, in a sense, leave the would-be Emperor blinded and deafened. But...
<Induriel> What if he could instead see and hear things that are not true?
<Induriel> Hmmm.
<May> ...you want to replace him?
<May> How? An illusion?
<Induriel> Maybe that isn't possible. Or it's over-ambitious.
<May> No... it's brilliant.
<Induriel> I'm not clear on how the two of them are communicating with each other.
<May> If it can work...
<May> Hmmm...
<Induriel> (Would they be communicating in the Feywild?)
<May> Could you capture him first? Make him tell you somehow?
* Induriel frowns
<Induriel> He is not without resources of his own.
<YOAW_Narrator> (It's possibly he has a dream contact back at their camp.)
<Induriel> Perhaps... if he can be convinced that he has emerged from the Feywild when really he hasn't, and reports back false troop positions that we want him to think are real...
<Induriel> (would that be possible? Feyception?)
<Induriel> As I understand it my mission is to ensure they don't leave at all.
<Induriel> Something along those lines would achieve that to the letter, while still serving our purposes.
<May> Can you do that?
<Induriel> I'm not sure. Perhaps? I must think, draw on the knowledge Lady Morelos has granted me. As her representative, I may be able to shape her lands directly, for a time.
<May> Anything you could discover would help our efforts
<Induriel> After a harrowing ordeal where he loses companions one by one, I expect he'd be all the more eager to believe he's finally made it out...
<Induriel> Well. If I *can
* decieve him, what would you want him to believe? Where should he think our troops are?
<May> Flanking their own perhaps. Anything to draw out his lines. The more he spreads his troops the easier it is for us to roll them up along their line.
* Induriel frowns
<Induriel> I don't know if this will work, mind you. It may be safer just to eliminate him entirely.
<May> That will have to be to your discretion, then.
<May> Depending on how things shake out.
<May> He can't be allowed to leave. He's far too dangerous.
<Induriel> I'll see what I can do. It could be instructive to let him think he's emerged, and see what he does to scout and sabotage what he thinks are our positions.
<Induriel> But yes, he is dangerous. I just wanted to be sure to warn you that he is on this mission, just in case he gets as far as here.
<May> Thank you. I appreciate the warning.
<May> Be careful, Istyar.
* Induriel nods

Eyllia reports to May about the underwater monster to come up with a plan

* Lysa will have gotten the Drake underway, back towards your other ships.
* Lysa comes to find Eyllia.
* Eyllia staring back in the direction of the undersea monster
<Lysa> Any more sign of it?
<YOAW_Narrator> (There hasn't been.)
* Eyllia shakes her head no
<Eyllia> There is no way to deal with that thing without paying a real price
* Lysa frowns.
<Lysa> What did you have in mind?
<Eyllia> bait it with a ship to get it to the surface, and then ram it, spear it, do whatever we can to end it.
<Lysa> How big is it?
<Lysa> You got the best look at it.
<Eyllia> thats all I got... maybe magic can do something too... mess with its control... but I don't know if we have anyone here that can do that.
* Eyllia will describe it as best we can
<Lysa> Maybe...maybe we need to fall back for now?
<Eyllia> we need to meet with the rest of our ships at least
<Lysa> We could station some marines to keep an eye out, just in case.
* Lysa nods.
* Eyllia nods in agreement
<YOAW_Narrator> It's about day's sail back to the rest of your fleet.
<YOAW_Narrator> There's been no more sign of the beast thus far.
<Eyllia> any chance Gladius has come back?
<YOAW_Narrator> Not to the Drake. He's been going back and forth to the southern fortification for now.
* Eyllia will meet with the other captains to discuss options
<YOAW_Narrator> Roll Warfare (Tactics) for me.
<Eyllia> !roll 3d6
* Korivan rolls for Eyllia: [ 3d6 ] getting [ 3 1 4 ] for a total of [ 8 ].
* Lan-werk rolls for Eyllia: [ 3d6 ] getting [ 6 1 5 ] for a total of [ 12 ].
<Eyllia> (12)
<YOAW_Narrator> Conferring with the captains, you think it's unlikely any ship would survive a ramming action against the creature.
<YOAW_Narrator> One of the captains suggests harpooning to try to immobilize it, but you're not sure you're outfitted for that, and you might need more ships in any case.
<Eyllia> I'm loathe to flee, but we need more help to deal with this.
<Eyllia> The Drake can race back to Nēšu Abamātu and mobilize some sort of counter attack
<Eyllia> the rest of the ships can watch for thier ships and the beast, and stay ahead of them.
<Eyllia> at least that way we'll know when they are coming
<YOAW_Narrator> The captains nod and voice their assent.
<Eyllia> Our efforts have revealed thier weapon and delayed thier approach. We have all done well here.
<Eyllia> When we meet again, it will be to dispatch them for good.
* Eyllia claps hands with the other captains before they leave
<YOAW_Narrator> It'll be a few day's tense but uneventful sailing back to Nesu Abamatu.
* Eyllia will find something to burn off her nervous energy
<Korivan> (I nominate: Meghan ;)
<YOAW_Narrator> (heh)
<YOAW_Narrator> Heading to the keep when you arrive, then?
<Eyllia> (yes)
<YOAW_Narrator> Servants will take Eyllia to where May is.
* May will be... in the library I guess?
* May will look up in surprise when you are shown in.
<May> Eyllia! You're back!
<Eyllia> Much sooner than I wanted to be.
<May> What happened?
<Eyllia> I'm sure you heard the reports of our first encounter with the enemy ships
<May> Yes, I did.
<Eyllia> I decided to take the Drake and chase them to see what they were up to.
* May nods.
<Eyllia> They have a sea monster under thier control. One big enough that no ship could survive an encounter with it.
* Eyllia describes it as best she can
<May> Well... fuck.
<Eyllia> It must be thier plan to blockade the city
<May> They were probably planning to set it on the harbor. Cut us off for a siege if necessary.
<May> Where is it now?
* NPC3 is now known as Morelos
<Eyllia> I assume slowly coming up the coast. I left the rest of my ships to keep watch and raced here to try and muster a defense against it.
<May> Hmmmm....
<May> Maybe we don't have to.
<May> Laris and Korivan are turning the imperials demon troops back on their masters. Their reliance on summoning will be their own downfall. Maybe we can do the same here.
<Eyllia> if true that would be safer than trying to fight it... but still risky.
<Eyllia> How close do you need to be to work such magic?
<May> It depends. The closer the better.
<May> But if my ritualists and I can go with you on the drake... Take control of the monster, use it against their ships and then banish it to... I don't know, a plane of shrimp or something.
<May> If it doesn't work we're no worse off than we were before. Unless we die. Then we're worse off.
<Eyllia> The Drake should be able to tack around the creature, as long as we have a good wind.
* May nods.
<May> (Josh, is that theoretically a reasonable idea?)
<Eyllia> How long would it take to prepare? Its days away if we wait for it here.
<YOAW_Narrator> (Hmm. It's risky, but banishing at least is theoretically possible. It would be a significant undertaking.)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Control would be harder.)
<May> Hmmm... n second thought it might be easier to simply banish the thing and then sweep in with the fleet to clean up the rest of their ships. That would also take less preparation time.
<Eyllia> unless they bring up more escorts, their transports are very vulnerable... if it wasnt for that monster, we probably could have paralyzed them.
<May> I'll take my relevant books and research on the ship. I can leave in a few hours. My uncle can run things here for the few days I will be gone.
<Eyllia> How is the rest of the fighting? Is it started? I've been a little out of touch
<May> It's started. According to Laris' report we've had some success, but it's going to be a hard fight.
* Eyllia nods
<May> We should leave as soon as possible. Let me gather my things and talk to Sahhiru and I will meet you at the docks.
<Eyllia> I'll head back to the Drake and work on getting her resupplied quickly.
* May nods.
<Eyllia> See you in a few hours
* May winks.
* Eyllia will give her friend a quick hug and head out

Korivan checks in with his apprentices about the ritual

<YOAW_Narrator> Korivan, you wanted to talk to your apprentices?
<Korivan> yes!
* Meghan is now known as Halgalaz
* Lysa is now known as Faasha
* Morelos is now known as Malak
* Korivan will seek them out after things have settled from the battle
<YOAW_Narrator> They'll come find you. (I'm assuming you summoned them?)
<Korivan> (at lest informally, sure :)
* Korivan will sort of check them over for any damage ;p
<YOAW_Narrator> They saw some fighting, but none of them have any more than superficial wounds that Halgalaz has already seen to.
<Korivan> (good good)
* Halgalaz is calmer than the other, two, who still seem pretty keyed up.
<YOAW_Narrator> (And Faasha's clearly having to tamp down her dragonmark, as you can feel it, too.)
* Korivan is pretty please with how that went already, really, but will grin at them, showing his teeth encouragingly
* Malak is grinning still.
<Korivan> Tell me... of your victory
<Malak> Me and Gurluk smashed and roared and aaahhhh!
* Malak makes a growl-y face.
* Halgalaz smiles.
<Faasha> A victory for Bane.
* Faasha grins.
* Korivan nods
<Faasha> And for us. :)
<Korivan> yes.... he is pleased.
<Korivan> (I assume ;)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Of course :) )
<Korivan> YOu had no trouble with... the rites?
<Korivan> Or the control? @_@
* Malak looks momentarily chagrined.
* Faasha also looks aside.
<Halgalaz> They held, gaath.
<Korivan> Tell me.
* Korivan nods
<Faasha> There was so much...everything.
* Korivan nods
<Faasha> Fear and anger and pride and courage...
<Faasha> I feel just as much as I give.
<Faasha> It was a great deal.
<Korivan> yes.
<Korivan> (Has she seen much action before?)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Previous stuff with you, but that's been in the rear of any action, I believe.)
<Faasha> But Halgie anchored me.
* Halgalaz smiles.
<Korivan> yes.... This is new to many... tis... scale.
<Korivan> But you give each other strength... that is good.
<Malak> We were very strong.
<Korivan> Yes.
<Malak> It felt like before, but not scary.
<Korivan> Before? @_@
<Malak> With my old master.
<Malak> Power going through me.
* Korivan nods
<Malak> But this was shared...not forced.
* Korivan nods
<Korivan> Still... It is a power we must all consider... with caution. But you have all done well. I am pleased @_@
<Korivan> But there will me more battles to come.
<Malak> I'm not scared.
<Faasha> We are ready.
* Halgalaz smiles at them both, chuckling a little.
<Halgalaz> We will stand strong, gaath Korivan.
* Korivan grins at her
<Korivan> Yes, you will.
* Korivan can prep them a little more specifically on any expected upcoming actions

Harbinger brings new of an enemy ritual, and plans are made in case the siege is broken

<YOAW_Narrator> Speaking of, the siege is ongoing, and they're beginning to field their engines.
<YOAW_Narrator> Laris, this is what the fortifications are for, but, still, it's with both pride and dismay that you watch the Turathi begin the long task of destroying what you've built
<Laris> (just as long as it's time consuming and painful for them, it's all good ;)
<YOAW_Narrator> You've repelled several assaults, but they haven't made anything as major as their first one.
<YOAW_Narrator> You get some reports from your orc allies where they've killed or turned back scouts looking into the smaller paths through the mountains.
* Laris is unsurprised they're still trying that, since he would probably do the same in their position :p
* Halgalaz is now known as Harbinger
<Harbinger> Legatus.
* Harbinger appears at your side on the battlements one evening.
<Laris> Ah, Harbinger. Good evening.
<Harbinger> The wall has held well.
<Harbinger> Many of the Turathi have been sent to their fate.
* Laris nods
<Laris> Good.
<Harbinger> They are preparing for an assault.
<Harbinger> A major ritual.
<Harbinger> Many prisoners are meeting their fate as well, this night.
<Laris> Have you seen this preparation taking place?
* Harbinger nods.
<Harbinger> Though only from some distance.
* Laris nods
<Laris> So I don't suppose you know what precisely they may be attempting with it?
* Harbinger shakes his head.
<Harbinger> Something to take down the wall.
<Harbinger> Beyond that...I do not know.
<Laris> Hmm. We should inform our ritualists of this, in case they can give any further insight.
* Harbinger nods.
* Laris will have Rufus and Korivan sent for, then.
<Laris> (and anyone else useful who might be around?)
* Faasha is now known as Rufus_Metillius
* Rufus_Metillius salutes.
<Rufus_Metillius> What's going on?
* Korivan nods nd grins to both
<Laris> Harbinger has observed that the enemy are preparing a major ritual tonight.
<Korivan> Hmmm...
* Harbinger sighs heavily.
<Harbinger> (ww)
* Rufus_Metillius sighs heavily.
<Korivan> (any thoughts form the ancestors?)
<YOAW_Narrator> (hmm. High or low?)
<Korivan> (high)
<YOAW_Narrator> They seem agitated, but you can't pick out anything in specific.
<Laris> They will try to bring down the wall.
* Korivan nods
<Korivan> are we.... prepared for that? @_@
<Rufus_Metillius> In that we have a wall.
<Rufus_Metillius> It's early for some kind of push.
<Rufus_Metillius> I wonder what's forced their hand?
<Korivan> hmm.
<Laris> We'll make preparations to fall back if necessary. That has always been the intention here - to hold them back and buy time, and then when we can no longer do so, to draw back along the pass.
<Rufus_Metillius> You think it's time?
<Korivan> I think....when the time comes.... We shoudl have some trap of our own to leve behind
<Laris> I think we should be prepared for it to be time. If it turns out we are wrong, or we're able to fend them off, then we'll be better prepared for the next time.
* Rufus_Metillius nods.
<Rufus_Metillius> Korivan, what did you have in mind?
<Korivan> When we withdraw form this place.... we will leave behind a powerful ally @_@ And we should make that count.
<Korivan> The walls you have raised.... are made of the mountain
<Korivan> its earth adn stone and trees...
* Rufus_Metillius nods.
<Korivan> We can call upon it to reinforce its own... and when it is breached, to release that power in more....costly ways @_@
<Korivan> The Booyagh can do this... with Agrath, and her people @_@
* Rufus_Metillius looks to Laris.
<Korivan> If you focus on what they are calling up.
* Laris nods
* Korivan hopes having some kind of plan will settle the ancestors some
<Rufus_Metillius> I don't know if the Kai Do Arat need to prepare, but, if so, they and the risen will cover our retreat.
<Rufus_Metillius> (will need to be ready)
<Rufus_Metillius> (will need to be ready to)
<Rufus_Metillius> (Jeez, Josh, learn to type.)
<Laris> Is this something you can maintain in place - that is, if they do not attack the wall tonight, or attack but fail to breach it, will your preparations still be ready for the next time this happens? Or will they only be able to hold for a short while?
* Laris asks Korivan
* Korivan considers
<Korivan> (I assume we can do it now, and if it doesn't breach tonight we'd have time to recforce it/extend it afterwards?)
<Korivan> (....speaking of not being able to type ;)
<YOAW_Narrator> (You'd basically have to choose. You can have it ready and not be able to hold it, or risk not being prepared for this assault but it would hold if you do.)
<Korivan> hmmm... Perhaps.
<Korivan> But it ill b... more difficult to prepare in time @_@
<Laris> Another question, then - if you prepare it and do not use it now, will that make it harder or impossible to prepare it again in the future? Will the spirits involved be resistant to being ... summoned without being used for their intended goal?
* Korivan considers
<Korivan> It would be.... a more difficult bargain.
<Korivan> (I thnk that's a fair assessment?)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Yeah)
* Laris considers
<Laris> Make the preparations you need, then, and act as if we assume they will breach the wall in the near future. If we are wrong, we'll have more time to consider other options going forward.
<Laris> We should start withdrawing civilians now, so they have more time to make their way to safety. They will move more slowly and if the attack doesn't come tonight, we can send riders to call them back if we want.
* Korivan nods
* Rufus_Metillius nods.
<Rufus_Metillius> I'll get things moving.
<Rufus_Metillius> (To Korivan) Good luck. Gods be with you.
* Laris will also get Severina and have her prepare her troops, and any others who need to know that we expect an attack tonight.
<Korivan> you as well @_@
* Korivan will gathr the booyagh and some orcs, then!
<YOAW_Narrator> The camp is abuzz with activity as preparations are made. The civilians get underway as quickly as possible, and should have most of a night's head start if retreat proves necessary.

Korivan consults with Agrath Stonesleeper about a ritual to reinforce the wall, and her role in that

<YOAW_Narrator> (Korivan, what exactly are you looking to do?)
<Korivan> (I am going to talk to Agrath about this as she might have more refinements, but I'd like to have the wall reinforced, and mayeb so that is pieces of it fall it breaks into elementas that will attch the legion folks? Is something lik that doable?)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Yeah, that's probably doable.)
<Korivan> (make it hard for them to breach the wall, but give them regrets a bit if they do ;)
<YOAW_Narrator> (right)
<YOAW_Narrator> Okay, roll me Willpower (Rituals) with, hmm, 2 bonus dice.
<Korivan> (also get a sense of how long we can hold them there for, and how, if we don't have time to make it more enduring, what we can manage for when it does come down)
* Korivan rolls [ 10d6 ] getting [ 4 3 4 4 2 1 3 5 1 5 ] for a total of [ 32 ]
<Korivan> (25)
* Malak is now known as Agrath
<YOAW_Narrator> Here, let's do a quick Agrath scene.
<Korivan> (I should have used ancestors dice too, oh well!)
<Korivan> (sure!)
<Agrath> Mountain will make them regret their assault.
* Korivan nods.
<Agrath> I will need to anchor this working.
<Korivan> They are preparing riuals of their own.... summoning...something @_@
* Korivan nods
<Korivan> What will you need?
<Agrath> Mountain provides.
<Agrath> But I will not retreat when the time comes.
* Korivan considers
<Korivan> This is your place.
* Agrath nods.
<Agrath> Yes.
<Korivan> I...understand.
<Korivan> We will hold.... as long as we can.
* Eyllia is now known as Eyllia_AFK
<Agrath> As will I.
<Korivan> Your strength.... has been greatlly valued, and will be @_@
<Agrath> My strength means little.
<Agrath> Honor Mountain, and my people.
* Korivan grins.
<Korivan> Your strenght... brings them honour. And we will not forget @_@
* Agrath nods.
<Korivan> (Is that good?)
<Korivan> (move into planning the specifics, etc?)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Yeah, that's good.)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Just establishing she's staying behind in case of retreat.)
<Korivan> (cool :)

The siege hits and Laris sends out the Kai Do Arat

<YOAW_Narrator> Just as dawn comes, there is a terrible roar from the Turathi camp, and the ground trembles even in the Nesu Abamatu camp.
<YOAW_Narrator> A mass rises from the camp, a being the size of a siege tower, of stone and strange crystals, its hide jagged with outcroppings. With a lurch, it begins to lumber towards the fortification.
<YOAW_Narrator> It shrugs off repeated lightning strikes as it closes the distance, the Turathi forces just a bit behind.
* Rufus_Metillius steels himself upon the battlements.
<YOAW_Narrator> (Where are Laris and Korivan atm?)
* Laris watches it approach from the battlements as well, I assume.
<Rufus_Metillius> That's...that's a big demon.
<Korivan> (is the ritual complete?)
<Laris> Yes, it is.
<Korivan> (I assume taking a minute to recover form that and prepare for the fighting bit... calling on Bane to bless our folks)
<Laris> Be careful, all right?
<YOAW_Narrator> (It is, yes.)
<Korivan> (is it definitely a demon?)
* Rufus_Metillius nods.
<Rufus_Metillius> (You're not sure. It looks more like an elemental, but, then again, demons are essentially corrupted elementals.)
<Rufus_Metillius> We'll hold as long as we can, but I'll get me and the other magi out.
* Laris nods
* Rufus_Metillius pats the nearest skeleton on the shoulder proudly.
* Laris gives Rufus a kiss, since who knows when we'll have a chance again.
* Rufus_Metillius kisses back passionately.
<YOAW_Narrator> (Okay, so, falling back, then?)
<YOAW_Narrator> (For Laris and Korivan?)
* Laris will be wherever he would be best placed to summon the Kai do Arat to help cover the retreat.
<YOAW_Narrator> (You can probably be mounted and waiting for a signal from the wall.)
<Laris> (okay)
<Korivan> (yeah am not sure what my best position would be, hmmm)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Korivan they probably should have put on a horse about as soon as the ritual ended. We know how he rides. ;) )
<Korivan> (well that is fair. I mean he would try to be around to support the Hrieffen, though, but he'll go when Krazz and his peeps say ;p)
<YOAW_Narrator> (Cool)
<Korivan> (Faasha can help Pump ppl UP too)
<YOAW_Narrator> It's a bit nerve-wracking to wait behind the wall, hearing the end of the creature's approach, followed by the first of it's ponderous blows against the fortification.
<YOAW_Narrator> The crash and cracking must be deafening on the wall, but you can hear Rufus's shouted orders between strikes.
<Korivan> (that's what prayer is for ;p)
<YOAW_Narrator> As the wall shudder and cracks, you see the signal from the wall.
* Laris reaches out for the Kai do Arat, then.
* Harbinger is now known as Ulkash
* Ulkash appears next to Laris.
<Laris> We need to retreat - they're going to break through the wall soon. Can you cover us?
<Ulkash> Of course, champion. Get your people to safety.
<Laris> Thank you.
* Ulkash blows a phantom hunting horn, its echo eerie and distorted. The other Kai Do Arat appear, and charge towards, then through, the wall.
* Laris salutes her and will call the troops to order so we can begin a retreat.
<YOAW_Narrator> There is another roar from the other side of the wall like the sound of an avalanche. You see interior pieces of the wall begin to crack and fall, then forming up as smaller beings of rock and stone, clambering their way back to the fray. Rufus is the last of the magi off the wall, but they make it to their horses and come galloping as a giant earthen fist plunges through the wall behind them.
* Laris is trying not to just pay attention to whether Rufus gets out safely, but it would be a lie to pretend he isn't worried about him, even if he is also worried about hundreds of other things at the same time.
