The zazafs (known in their own tongue as michifli) are thin, emaciated, black-brown humanoids with large black leathery wings attached to their upper arms and shoulders. Both males and females have dark brown fur on their heads, necks, chests, and backs. Although they are as tall as a human, they weigh only around 140 pounds at most. They are cunning nocturnal carnivorous predators who live in colonies high in mountainous areas as well as in towers of their own construction or in ruins. They are adept fliers who travel far in search of prey. The nation of [[Fliitangir]], nestled between [[Ashnabis Territory|Ashnabis]] and [[Hrofnand]], is a mountainous, lake-filled small kingdom inhabited principally by the zazaf and their enormous herds of cattle and sheep. Their tongue, Fliitangi, is high-pitched and screeching, and understood by few if any humans. In fact, they have little contact with humans except in times of famine, when raids on human livestock and even warfare between the two peoples are common. Colonies of zazaf range from about 20 individuals to many thousands. However, little else is known about these creatures.
