Ushukuna is the putative First Ancestor of the ikhano (bone vultures), a giant vulture whose wingspan is at least 80 feet and whose territory encompasses the whole [[Khurorgos Mountains]]. She is often known among non-specialists as Khuzal, from her purported lair high in the [[Khutu|Khutuan]] mountains. Most humans have never and will never see Ushukuna, and her true nature is generally undetermined, or even consider that she is purely mythical.

However, the vultures of the [[Ravre]] know many more things about her. Her lair is agreed to be on and probably at the volcanic lake at the center of [[Momichas]], although anyone who goes there to seek her out will never find her. She is eternal, ageless, and possessed of enormous magical powers - she has been around forever (as a First Ancestor) or, at least, for countless centuries. Theologians at [[Nemnosti]] regard her as similar to, although clearly different from, a saint. Anyone who is killed by Ushukuna is turned into a haunt, and anyone so unfortunate as to be eaten by her can never be put to rest. And it is believed that Nemnosti exists - i.e., that [[Nemnu Ula]] was permitted to build the ulajeta here - only with Ushukuna's blessing. It is common among vultures and knowledgeable Ravre to use the same high politeness register to refer to her as they would a saint.
