To the far west of the continent is the land of the Tzameddi, a society where women hold enormous political power through controlling their male kin, including selecting village chiefs. This area was never contacted significantly by the [[Omban Empire]] and even to this day is poorly known except by some sailors and a few (largely unsuccessful) missionaries of the Hand and the Voice. The Tzameddi are extremely short and squat and men modify their bodies extensively through scarification and facial plugs, leading to the belief among those who know about them that they are not fully human. The Tzameddi are not prone to disabuse strangers of this notion and prefer to retain their isolation for the most part, although at the (fluid) border with Ashnabis there are frequent friendly contacts for trade. Their economy is largely fishing and foraging, with an emphasis on seal hunting and clam gathering.
