The Gandachi regency was a period from 167 to 169 after the death of the emperor [[Gandachi dynasty|Shan III}}, after a reign of only a year. Advocates for the child-king styled as Shan IV, the former emperor's son, enlisted [[Eluli Ula]] to act as a sort of regent, while (as a former emperor) holding imperial power in his own right, while they could build support for their position and give the younger Shan time to age a little. In the end, however, that faction of the Gandachi was unsuccessful, as ultimately Mekhor II, a more distant cousin, was able to assert control.
