Suskovero is the largest city in [[Basai]], with over 31,000 inhabitants. Despite its prominence as a port city at the mouth of the Gentai River, Suskovero has been overshadowed for centuries by the capital and intellectual hub of [[Dundures]], home to the great and ancient mystic Academy. Suskovero's architecture is classically northern, built low and rectangular from grey stone, with buildings close-packed along several islets and outcroppings. Suskovero's economic importance is largely based on its maritime economy; it is a major port for the [[fos]] trade even today (with the Basaian crop being far less than in the past), as traders are not normally permitted to visit Dundures directly. Suskovero is home to the large and powerful Basaian navy and has an excellent harbour.
