A former member of the Red Squadron, Aristide was known as "Black Cat" for his dark hair and eyes. He came from the south of the Empire, somewhere in the Chalcedon Mountains, and was from a family of minor nobles who were well-to-do mine owners there, although he hinted that he had had a falling-out with his relatives which led him to enlist in the army. He was the oldest member of the group, currently in his late thirties. He had originally trained as a cleric when he was young, but had left the the priesthood, which may have been part of the reason he and his family quarreled.
